Eh. The service here has definitely seen better days I am sure but we happened to run in when Amsterdam was showering us with a spectacular thunderstorm so it was great they had the room for us (actually, they had a whole floor above the bar and kitchen that we took over with) but we soon figured out why.
We managed to order a bunch of drinks (these were fine) and snacks and that’s where it all started to come undone a bit.
Given there’s a Van Dobben like. a block and a bit away, you’d think the snacks they had on offer to be ok. Née my fellow friends, née, not at all.
A mixed plate of the usual suspects (bitterballen, kaastengels, and vegetarian loempias) was pretty disappointing. I mean, I get it, fast and (not-​so) cheap with a high mark up on the menu, that’s the game! Especially when there are drunk people involved looking for a feed. But these fried snacks were such a disappointment. I feel like the loempias were filled with vegetable slush and the bitterballen had seen better days. And kaastengels, probably the easiest thing to get right because it’s 1 part cheese and 1 part pastry. Nope. Not good at all.
I’ve heard their lunch time offerings are ok but I’m not sure I could be bothered to come back for a visit!

We had a really nice breakfast here! The food was good. In the middle of Amsterdam this is a realy nice location. Would definitely come back here!

Do not come to this restaurant hungry. You will find yourself ready to jump into a canal if you show up ready to eat quickly. If you are Dutch or a local you may find your experience a bit better as they are seemingly treated with better service and magically get their food quickly.
Cappuccino is a saving grace and the view helps.

Das Lokal liegt an einer viel befahrenen Kreuzung und bekommt deshalb recht viel Lärm ab. Ansonsten hat eigentlich alles gestimmt, die Bedienung war freundlich und zuvorkommend, das Essen (ich hatte den italian burger) war sehr gut, lediglich das Fleisch hätte etwas zarter sein können. Aber alles in allem gerne wieder und zu empfehlen.

Slowest restaurant in all of Amsterdam. After 1 hour we got our soups before we even got our drinks and after another 30 minutes we got our salad. One meal didnt arrive at all. Do not recommend. I understand people have to learn but you dont teach them or leave the alone at the bussiest time of the day!

Was happy to found this place when friends were visiting Amsterdam. It was a Friday so was not expecting too much people, downstairs was full, so we went upstairs. We were 6 people and a kid. Asking the waitress if we could seat upstairs, she said no problem. After waiting 15min to see someone with a menu, we went down to ask if we could order, 10min laters no response or waitress so we decided to leave again.
There were two more couples seated in the above area, both also waiting a very long time on their orders too. Maybe the food is good, but I can’t recommend it because of the lousy service. Better places that serve good food and have decent service to be found in Amsterdam.

Not a bad spot to stop for a bite. The service can be a bit slow so make sure you have time. The prices are pretty reasonable. They do take regular credit cards which is nice. They have outdoor seating so enjoy people watching. If you sit at the bar watch your knees! There is a vet low edge and it hurts when you hit it!

Really wanted to like this place, but somehow they managed to screw things up big time. After ordering, we quickly received one of our appetizers followed by
a 20 minute wait until we were told they didn’t have the second appetizer available and forgot the mention it. Fine, but it was another 20 minutes before we received the entrees.

Good food for a reasonable price. Nothing extraordinary, but well made.

Great lunch place, with sandwiches and melts. Outdoor seating available, with nice view of canal. The lunch staff is very friendly. Plus, the resident cat seems to like me and usually sits nearby.
Have the tomato soup — large bowl, very fresh-​tasting.

Always a good place to have beers and the occasional dinner. If you don’t like hefty weekend crowds, check then out for lunch. The staff is very nice and friendly.
