Well… here it is. We had a reservation for six people for 7pm. But once we walked in the door, we were told that they had just seated six, and only only us for two. But they found us a table upstairs,(which actually worked out better because it wasn’t as loud and hectic) and took our order. My wife and I had the Indrapura Rijsttafel(rice table for two.) I wish I had taken a menu, because there’s no way in Hell I can remember everything there was, because there was a lot of food!(I’ll post a couple of photos in a minute.) The other four ordered ala’ Carte. Our food came out first, but the other’s seem to take forever; especially since there was a group that came in after us that got their plates before our group. And once it did arrive, some of our group complained that some of the food wasn’t hot or heated enough. Then seated across from us, a table of four guys complained to the manager about the same exact issues that we had: messed up res, slow service, lukewarm meals… But with all that said, me & Ro really liked the food… and the concept. I think this place caters to the«slow food» movement. The kind of place where you go in and spend a good bit of time slowly eating and enjoying the food and ambience. Plus, I’ve never had an Indonesian meal, so I have nothing to compare it with. But again, what we had was awesome!

Average food, bad service. We were intrigued by the rice table options however the list of dishes did not have any of our favorite Indonesian dishes so we decided to order our own dishes. We selected Beef Rendang and a Nasi Goreng that came with a selection of satay. Both dishes come with plenty of interesting sides that appear to be listed as separate parts of the rice table. When the food arrived it looked great however the flavor was not quiet right and the dishes were already lukewarm. The worst part was that The service was non existent, no one really greeted us or offered to take our coats and flagging someone down to do anything was impossible. We watched wave after wave of rice table orders fly past is while we waited for our two simple dishes. I suspect there is little cooking involved in a rice table and that this place is making a small fortune from a selection of overpriced side dishes.

One of the experiences that was on the top of our Amsterdam to-do list was have rijsttafel(rice table) while visiting the city. Indrapura was close to where we were staying and the menu looked good, so we chose to have Purnama rice table for 4 with our traveling companions. We were not disappointed! The 30 Euro per person price was reasonable for the large amount and variety of food that we received. All of it very delicious; my favorite was the coconut curry vegetables and the chicken dish with coconut. We though we arrived in time for the Early Bird special, but to get the 25% discount for Rijsttafe you have to eat and leave before 8pm. We took to long enjoying the delicious food:)

This is the first time we have tried an Indonesian Rice Table. The food was delicious and the quantity was very generous. Each of the dishes were unique and complemented each other. Note to bargain hunters: their early bird 25% discount is only valid if you complete your meal by 8. Given the leisurely pace of dining you will need to start by 6 at the latest.

We were on our way to another restaurant and decided to try here instead. So glad we did! It was fantastic! We had the rice plates… delicious! Our waitress was very attentive and several others came to check on us. I’m not an expert in Indonesian food(only my 2nd time having it) but I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Probably one of the best Indonesia restaurants I have been to in Nederland. Greats atmosphere, good rijsttafels and the best spread you could want. Be sure to stop in here if you are near Rembrandt Plein as it is well with the stop and will fill your belly with fantastic food along with the good company of the service staff.

2nd visit here. We paid for the more expensive rijsttafel option, 45 euro pp. Served the lobster with coconut based sauce first, and then the rest of the dishes at once. The lobster was delicious(generous portions). Fun to sample Indonesian plates this way, with more than enough food for 2 of us(make sure you have room to eat!). The food that stood out was the beef satay, the spicy shrimp, vegetable cole slaw with the peanut sauce, chicken drumsticks, but everything was good. Friendly service, nice upscale atmosphere.

Good food. Try one of the set meals as you get to try so many dishes. Must share though as it is a lot. We had the spicy one which was excellent. Great service too. Will go back.

Two words: RICETABLE, it is not just rice, but a whole table full of small portions of Indonesian specialties from chicken skewers, to fried duck, to prawns, to curried veggies, to tropical salads served in one large hot sizzling plate(think chevy’s fajita platters for us westerners) and small side dishes which was a feast in itself. We sat outside in the open summer air overlooking the Square so we couldn’t hear the piano player. Inside looked even nicer with white linen table clothes and stained glass windows. It’s an experience, and an expensive one, but I would go again!

This is a really nice Indonesian restaurant. The hosts and hostesses were very nice. It will get busy, so i suggest making reservations. The food was excellent. Oh and they had a piano player that played some awesome music that complemented the restaurant’s ambiance. Would definitely recommend. It is a little pricey though… so expect to over 20 euros for a meal.

I went on a Tuesday night and had to wait an hour to get a table, usually the sign of a good restaurant. Any of the rijstaffels(rice tables) are the real deal. For 30 Euro, you get a lot of food and it’s a plethora of different things. I’d recommend to any tourist visiting the city for a quality meal.

We went to Indrapura based on the positive reviews; perhaps our expectations were a bit high, being from Toronto and having access to so many diverse and good quality restaurants. We went in on a Saturday night and the gentleman told us to come back in 45 minutes because it was pretty busy. Upon our return we were seated behind the elevator, and it was very tight, but it gave us a good view of the 2 dumbwaiters that were zipping back and forth between the hidden kitchen. Despite the absence of the noises from the kitchen the place was pretty loud. We had two servers, the female was pretty nice and the male was very accommodating and kind. The décor is elegant and cozy but a little bit on the dim side. We decided to try the«rijsttafel» which is the Indonesian rice table. The vegetarian combo was € 25 p. p, the others were € 30, € 35& € 45(seafood). We opted for the € 35 p. p combo which started with a delicious shrimp & vegetable fritter. But I was a bit disappointed with the main course because it is just rice(either plain white or fried) and a bunch of sides, a few of them which weren’t that good. There was also too much food for us. I definitely didn’t feel that it was worth the $ 49CAD/person that it cost us. We went back a second time during the week because my husband loved the chicken and beef satay but in my opinion it wasn’t anything to write home about. We also went early on our second visit because they advertise an ‘early bird’ discount of 25% between 5pm-8pm, however we found out that this only applies to the rice table, but it doesn’t say that on the door or on their business card. Their washroom is down a narrow flight of steps and is quite tiny, but clean. With other options around that had more reasonable prices I don’t think I would recommend this restaurant.

Came here as when in Amsterdam, gotta try Indonesian cuisine. There is the standard menu with indonesian dishes & the many dishes(either meat or vegetarian). I wanted to try many dishes to get a taste of everything. I ordered the vegetarian(25 euros, not cheap). Oh FYI, this cost is per person, cannot share. The many side dishes were delicious and portions of rice and dishes are plenty. I also received a slight discount from dinner since I dine before 8pm. When the bill came, and I paid a couple of euros as tip, the waiter was insulted that I didn’t pay enough in tip! Tipping is optional in europe, and this wasn’t fine dining or service! If ever in Amsterdam, I would try a different Indonesian restaurant.

Warning to all tourists, AVOID! I am really hard press to give this much more then two stars. Most people that end up eating here recieve recommendations from their hotel or are on business. I had intended to make reservations at a different location but the hotel was all about sending me to this place instead. A little too forcibly but used the phase«cheaper» to attempt to seal the deal. We showed up to a really friendly reception. The host/waitor asked us what we don’t eat and then proceeded to tell us that he could will talk to the kitchen to interchange items off the 35 euro per person or 45 euro per person menu. When I asked if he could just change out one item on the 30 dollar menu it was suddenly impossible. It was not that I was being cheap but my companion and I liked the items more on the vegetarian menu than the seafood one. So we settle on our meals, which were entrees that we split. That is the way to go because you get most of the side items listed on the sample menus with the entrees. You not only will save some cash but get dishes that seem more exotic then on the sampler menu. Now when it came to drinks, I asked our host what he had for a beer selection. He told me that they only have one beer and that it was on tap. I thought I would give it a shot but then toward the end of dinner noticed that the people dining at the table next to me were able to order bottled beer. We could say it was a language barrier but at this point I felt more like he was indifferent to me or we were being taken by a tourist trap. Exhibit A. Only helps to pick out the most expensive stuff on the menu even though my girlfriend said she won’t eat half the items. Exhibit B. Took forever to get my drink order in and was not even given an options due to my desire for beer. Exibit C. Hotel was all to happy to have me change my reservation for this place. While the food is good, I would not have paid that much for what we recieved. If you want to go to this place, think twice because it only has high ratings due to the volume of people hotels funnel to their tables.

We have been recommended this place by our hotel and all reviews online were great. However I think the place is overpriced for what it is. The interior is outdated and is nothing spectacular. The food menu is good but the waiter was pushing to order the rice menu which is just ton of food for 30 – 50 euro per person. We ended up ordering separate meals and starters from the main menu. The itself was good but it is overpriced. Plus the drinks menu is not that great and they had just one type of beer. Even though later we saw more different beers on other tables. Looks like a place for tourists and visiting business men. It’s not a bad choice but not for that money.

We ended up here on our first night in Amsterdam, because this place was recommended by our hotel nearby(otherwise we wouldn’t have gone). Overall this place was just so-so. We didn’t order the«rice table» because we weren’t hungry enough, but even our regular entrees came with a lot of interesting sides and little salads. One of our entrees was ground chicken in banana leaves; unfortunately the chicken resembled a dry, tough, and flavorless meatball… seemingly way overcooked or reheated too many times. Everything else was good though. Atmosphere is a bit upscale with very cheesy canned music.

We were really disappointed to the say the least. The food was wildly mediocer and because of that overpriced as hell.(main dishes starting at 20 euros) — no vegeterian dishes except for one half-assed attempt to serve something which was not on he menu. — the prices on the website were in median 4 euros under the actual prices. — the cheapest main dish starts at 21 euro — the food was just blunt like in some very cheap restaurants. If the prices would reflect that, it would have been okay. — service was mediocer as well, no high class as you would expect at this price. The guy who seemed to be the owner ran around in his jeans? Wtf? They won’t see us again.

I decided to try this place after reading rave reviews on Unilocal. We were a group of 9 people on a weekday, and getting a table was not a problem. Before I review the food, I would like to review the staff and service here. Initially, we were welcomed warmly by an older gentleman. However, we didnt find the staff to be very friendly. We all were a bit confused with how ordering the ‘rice table’ worked. We were told that the rice table has to be ordered for 2 people minimum…25 Euros each. So the rice table will cost at a minimum of 50 Euros. Since we were an odd number group, we were confused as to how that would work. The waiters either got annoyed explaining it to us or they just didnt care… but either way, their attitude bothered me a bit. In the end, we finally understood that a rice table could be made for 3 people as well. Other than ordering the ‘Rice Table’, there is not much vegetarian to order. Since I dont eat eggs, I had to make sure they replaced eggs with veggies. Overall, the food was decent. This was my first time trying Rice Table and I wasnt a big fan. Maybe its just a personal choice. Try it out if you are in the area. Just remember the Rice Table will be 25 Euros per person and has to be ordered for two people.

I was at my hotel front desk asking for recommendation for an Asian eatery nearby, the staff responded«you’ve gotta try Indrapura». Another hotel staff was walking by at that moment and said«yes, I love Indrapura». All I could think of inside of my head was«In drag purrrra… WHO is in drag??». LOL The place has a very old school charm, from the moment you step inside — pianist, candle light, flowers, carpet… all of that. I was there on the Queen Day eve, and the place was packed. The manager told me without reservation, the wait was probably an hour. I returned after an hour and the table wasn’t ready. The manager-looking guy offered me a glass of wine and promised a table asap. No problem, I thought. It was the first night of my first visit in Amsterdam. And who would’ve thought this place turned out being one of the best Indonesian places I’ve ever been to, in Amsterdam of all places! I had the tasting menu. The food was superb in terms of presentation, taste, food temperature and pace. The reason I went with the tasting menu was because I couldn’t decide what to get. One of the best part of the whole experience was that the waiter took the time to explain what the dishes were as they were brought to the table, which sauces to go with which. He was courteous and spoke flawless English. I appreciated that very much. My trip to Amsterdam was about 2 months ago. And when I think of this place, it still managed to bring a smile to my face. LOVE it!

Great place! Delicious rijstafel restaurant with a comfortable and well-designed interior. Rijstafel is a selection of Indonesian dishes that are brought to your table. Each dish is just a few bites but with 30 – 35 on some menus, it is enough to give you a good understanding of Indonesian food. Indrapura is a bit ‘touristy’ in that it seems they cater to groups but that does not seem to affect the food or the service. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Europe.

My favorite Indonesian restaurant in Amsterdam, run by a friend and superb host. Well worth the plane ride from the States. Gado gado, lobster curry appetizer… the list goes on. Make a reservation and bring a friend to share. (and I can’t believe I get the first review!)
