The restaurant was very near to our hotel, so we decided to have our dinner here. The place is well decorated and has a well-stocked bar. We had ordered Madras Fish as our main dish & Butter Naan & Cheese Naan as our sides. Firstly we were so surprised that the main dishes were so highly priced. The cost was 18.50 euros. A plate of rice comes with it but it was not mentioned in the menu card. The taste of the dish was so so bad. We had asked for a hot main dish & thus could only taste the chillies & peppers in the dish. The naans were soft & good in taste. Since we in London had always had very good Indian food & being a regular visitor of Indian restaurants in London, the Indian food was so so bad & the prices were too much. The waiters were well– behaved & that’s it. The dosas here were priced as 15 Euros, whereas in London we have awesome delicious dosas priced at 5⁄6 Pounds. We were very very disappointed with the food & would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We went to eat there 23. Of may. This was quite a disapointment. The chicken was very dry og also the pork. This could never be fresh ingrediens. A very poor experience and not recomendable i’m afraid. The service was not satifying at all. Nobody came to sheck out if things vere ok, aften the food was served.

My husband and I shared our final meal in Amsterdam with our friend, Pamela at Dosa. Indian food is probably my favorite ethnic cuisine, and good food makes me very, very happy. The dinner we had at Dosa was top-notch, and I left feeling very happy. We had a lovely lamb korma, saag paneer, butter chicken and onion bhaji and samosa for starters. I typically order chicken korma, but Pamela suggested we have the lamb meat korma because she loves the butter chicken. I had never had butter chicken and was really thrilled with the selection. Everything was cooked beautifully. The spices and sauces were perfection. We all left the restaurant more than satisfied. The service was excellent. The wait staff were exceedingly polite and attentive. The restaurant is simple, but clean and comfortable. Overall we had a lovely time. My only regret is that I will have to wait until my next visit to Amsterdam to return to Dosa.

I have now been to around 22 of the supposed 30 ish indian restaurants(I don t count the ones which are indian plus indonesian for example) in Amsterdam. Dosa was one I tried on the way to a pub quiz. I had been warned by a friend of mine who is of Indian origin that the people staffing the restaurant were most like not from the south of India if from there at all. Just so you can calibrate every Indian restaurant you need to pick a dish which is pretty common and for me it is chicken balti, but slightly hotter than normal just to see if they can deviate from the run-of-mill lightly spiced versions. I normally take it with a naan, preferable a kulcha and pilau rice. What I ordered was balti chicken — spicier than normal as per my regular — but what I got was butter chicken in a copper bucket! Do they think I m an idiot? They also to add insult to injury sprinkled the top with desiccated coconut! I am not fond of coconut if you are wondering why I would be bothered by it. The Kulcha naan was ok but the filling had seemed to escape a bit. Rice was cooked well enough, but it was just basmati rice. Otherwise the place has tired old décor, pelmets, 1960s wooden chairs, melamine topped tables, yellowish wallpaper and wood-panelling 50% of the wall. The placesetting was Lotus profession paper table which should have given me a hint on what was to come! The service was OK ish by Amsterdam standards as the menu arrived promptly, but then I was ignored for about 8 minutes. This plus 2 small Kingfisher beers cost the princely sum of 29 euros, which is steep for this quality. I also had a discussion with the main waitress about the Balti not being a Balti and she happily explained that it is butter chicken in a bucket, that is how they do it. I rolled my eyes somewhat at this comment.

I ve been looking for a south indian place in Amsterdam for the longest time and was excited to know that there is a restaurant that specializes in dosa’s and south indian dishes. Food — Masala Dosa, Sambar vada — D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S Chicken dosa — average Sambar was great in taste and the helping was generous but I didnt like the coconut chutney much. It was too sweet and didnt taste anything like coconut. I tried the indian beer — kingfisher and liked it. Ambience — Clean and basic Service — Good Price — I think the price is reasonable given that it is probably the only restaurant in Amsterdam serving good south indian food. Definitely going here everytime i have a dosa-craving.

My old neighborhood haunt. I used to eat at Dosa at least once a week, and I was never disappointed. One of the few decent Indian restaurants in Amsterdam. They have a variety of dishes, but I highly recommend their specialty Dosa dishes. These are traditional Southern Indian filled pancackes. The Coconut Masala Dosa is a treat. There is also a non-coconut version, as well as a delicious paneer/potato Dosa. Portion sizes are generous. Takeaway and delivery available.

I had just read about Dosa on the Internet and was in the mood for Masala Dosa. I took my girlfriend to try it out. My Dosa was tasty but I felt overpriced at 13 Euros. My girlfriend wasn’t convinced that her lamb was really lamb. It didn’t tast like lamb to her and it looked like reddish tofu like substance to me but I’m no expert. When she asked the waiter if it really was lamb he said it was but, added«It looks like something else doesn’t it ?» She liked it ok but not for lamb. I ordered a large beer and it was good but not cold. Maybe it wasn’t supposed to be? She asked for tap water but was told she could only buy a bottle of water. I’d really wanted to like this place but for 39 euros I probably won’t go back.
