Hidden gem especially when the street tables aren’t out due to weather. We were on a pub crawl of sorts and stumbled upon this place. Place was packed but they allowed us to kind of take over the bar area. Service was great and cool to view the staff in the open kitchen do they thing. We ordered various appys and mains, every dish was delicious! Highly recommend

Good food. If good weather try to get a table outside. Service is not so good but friendly.

Super cute place! It was a nice and sunny day when we visited De Fles. The outside was packed(as it should be) and we were lucky enough to get a seat just inside the open window/door…it was almost like we were outside. I can’t say enough about the service. It was excellent! We were greeted when we walked in, was given great advice on what to order and the servers were very patient with everyone I saw them with. The music was fun oldies and the drink service was super quick. The portions of food were HUGE! We weren’t too excited about the price of things until we saw how much you were given. And the plates were nicely done as well. It doesn’t mean much to me, but the effort is appreciated. My spare ribs were okay, not amazing. But I would definitely go back. And my husband had the tuna steak that he said it was very good and he can’t wait to go back. My only comment/question was that another patron asked for tap water after they had ordered food and other drinks and was told they don’t do that. I know it’s a debate as to whether businesses have to serve tap water if you order other drinks. But that was my only concern. We’ll likely be back soon to sit by the canal for borrel!

Great Dutch specialties and super service. They had some good local brews and got bittenballs– the owner played pro hockey in the NHL and has owned the place for even.

Do not get the seafood. A friend of mine raved about the crab, so I decided to try it(even though it is billed as ‘Alaskan’, which is very far away.) I should have known better. It was terrible. The service was very kind about exchanging it for Paella, which was also very dry, both the chicken and prawns it featured. By then, we were too hungry to refuse another dish. I don’t think i’ll go back for a main here, but the environment is great and the staff were very nice with the complications. For me, De Fles is now just a place for beers no-fail bar food.

Went here as it was right next it the houseboat we rented. Very cool décor and you can see into the kitchen which is a good sign. We got the chicken Caesar salad. Was very good homemade dressing. A ton of chicken. The salad would be better without the chicken. Also, we had the cheeseburger which had to be close to ½ pound or bigger. It was above average. The prawns on the pasta were huge. They were good, but slightly fishy. Good beer selection and a friendly bartender. Only reason it gets 4 stars is the chicken and prawns slightly disappointing.

So as a friend has posted before, I went to Café De Fles on Tuesday evening to have some drinks with another friend. We told the waitress ahead that we just wanted to have a beer, by the way. So after 2 rounds she asked us if we wanted something else, to what we said that we were ok for the moment. To our surprise, she brought the bill. We ignored it because we hadn’t asked for it and we had been actually thinking of ordering some appetizers. 5 minutes later she came again and said that if we weren’t going to drink or eat sth, we should leave because there were people waiting for a table. So some thoughts: 1. This is a café(an eetcafe, ok, but not a restaurant) and we had said upfront that we just wanted to have a couple of drinks. If they weren’t ok with that, they should have said that those tables were reserved for dinner and we would have totally understood. 2. We didn’t spend the evening there with just a drink. We were there for around 1 hour and had ordered 2 rounds. And even if we had done that, when you have a business in Horeca, you have that risk and you can’t treat clients differently depending on what they order. But that’s not where the story ends. We felt stupid for not having said anything in person(yes, we should have, but those situations are quite uncomfortable) so I posted a review on their Facebook page. Hypocritical or not, but that’s what it means to live in the Internet era. And this is more or less the translation to their reply when I wrote that I would never come back: «good to loose this kind of bitches». I mean, having a business nowadays, you’re exposed to critics whether you like it or not. Sometimes fair, some other times, unfair. And specially when you have a Facebook page. But this kind of answer? I give a big applause to the one in charge of the social media channels of this café and wish them the best of luck to keep the business going in the future, given that it seems like they don’t need clients that much.

Randomly ate here after attending a photo exhibit opening at &foam and wow what a find! We sat at the terrace and shared the tapas platter. Yum! For 19E you get two meat dishes and two seafood dishes — what you get changes each time according to the waitress. Surprise! Each of the four sample size dishes was delish. There was a spicy sausage, grilled shrimps, mussels served with dollops of herb butter and a cold filet that was just seared so very rare inside. The latter was the highlight. Since it wasn’t hot, or even warm, I was expecting it to be chewy and it was perfectly tender. The portions were perfect for sharing — that was our dinner along with a side of über crispy fries. I spied all the other dishes being served around me and the very content faces of the diners. The steak tartar looked soooo good and the burger was humongous! Meat eaters will definitely not have a hard time getting their fill here. Will definitely be back. Credit cards accepted!

Very good food, with a very attentive owner and waitstaff. If you’re a tourist looking for«authentic» dutch food, you may not find it here – spare ribs and steak are popular choices on the menu. However, it’s simply one of the best meals I’ve had in Amsterdam. My boyfriend and I ate a good meal there the last time we were in town, and received good service despite the restaurant being busy and training several new staff that night. They don’t rush here, so don’t expect to eat and run. The food is worth it, as is the owner’s soft spot for American blues and rock music.

One of my favorite spots for dinner in the city! When I moved here nearly 3 years ago, this place was immediately recommended to me for a nice dinner with a visiting friend and I never looked back. I’ve been to this restaurant countless times — it’s a place I take anyone visiting or anyone special to me. I’ve been up and down the menu and it’s simply terrific. Ribs, steak, chicken(sorry, I’m a meat eater, but I’m sure the veggie stuff is great as well), fries… it’s all very high quality. Great appetizers, desserts, beers and wines! The location is good, and the restaurant itself is uniquely located in an underground level, canal-side with a lofted street-level section of chairs. In warm months there is also a canal-side section of tables outside which is a great place to sit. Inside the atmosphere is dark, and there is a lot of places to sit. However, a reservation at a busy hour is definitely a good idea. The service is always nice, but the food can take some time, but it’s worth waiting for. Prices are worth it. I love this restaurant and will always bring friends and family here. I imagine if I move away from Amsterdam, this will be one of the places I would be certain to revisit when coming back.

Popped in here while wandering through the city. Nice atmosphere, staff and good food. Takes visa!
