This cozy café is located near Leidseplein and is just below street level, so you can easily oversee it. You shouldn’t though! It is a fun spot to have a drink and chat with friends but especially to see live music. There are always bands playing here, well not always, they are only open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. But it’s fun and its cozy!
The crowd is in their twenties/​thirties and a little student/​hip/​alternative. Kinda like the Melkweg/​festival crowds. Check their Facebook if you want to see what’s playing. Entrance is usually free.

If you’re looking for some fun in the center without overpriced drinks and horrible American tourists (which I used to be before I moved here), this is a great little spot.
It’s just next to all the touristical stuff in the Leidseplein, but still has that cozy charm you want and can find all over Amsterdam. They have tons of jazz nights with live music and djs.
Worth a look!
