I am mainly a big fan of this place because of the location. Vertigo is located in the Vondelpark, which is one of the most exceptional parks in Amsterdam. What comes to mind when I think of this café-restaurant is a representation of beauty because it’s located in one of the most harmonious and beautiful environments in Amsterdam. I have been lucky so far not to encounter any bad customer service here. I guess that I will have to knock on wood…, so that I may continue to have a lovely experience here. It’s the perfect place for any occasion. Also wonderful for big groups when it comes to comfort, seating and ambiance. I love so many things about this place. Whether you are being seated on the terrace or inside their cozy classical restaurant you will enjoy the experience. A note to moviegoers that the Film Museum is no longer located here. The new location has been moved to a new building on the north shore of the harbor, on the opposite end of the Central Station.

I have been to the Vertigo Café many times and the view/location is just amazing. The food is not awe inspiring, but I have always been pleased. BUT If you go there on a busy day, and by busy I mean: sunny, slightly warm, during the tourist season, during the summer, or a combination of the above, it is really better to just stick with drinks and snacks. It can be hard to flag a waitress! To make life even more confusing, if you sit on the upper terrace, you have to go order from a booth. When it starts to get colder, you can still sit outside but you have to go inside to order. And you do have to pay when you order as well. When its really cold, and there is no outside seating at all? This is the best time to go inside and eat. You will get good service, nice atmosphere, and pea soup so thick your spoon stands up in it. The item that you must, must order: they have this dessert, called the 7th Heaven. Which is like a fancy ice cream sundae with red fruit sauce and crushed nuts, served in an oversized glass goblet and it is AMAZING!

BADBADBAD service!!! You need to pay when you order… WHATEVER! Are they afraid you leave before getting your order… unless they KNOW they are so slow that people might leave between order and getting the stuff ordered. The location is really TOP. in Vondelpark. great area… but YUUUUK. Service is bad… rude… and really trow you stuff. It was not only today… it happened already more than once. Why do I get there again. because it is in a nice location :) I have to say. that it can be easily infested by mosquito or flies :( Standard Amsterdam price for beer and wine.

Vertigo, in Vondelpark, has it easy. An open terrace café, overlooking the river flowing through the Central Park of the ‘Dam, it is the ideal place to come on a summery April day and burn that British white skin to a crisp. Go hide in the Film museum behind it if you can’t handle the heat. To drink Heinekin, which tastes WAY better in Holland than it does in the UK. To eat various bar snacks. The downside? Food isn’t particularly impressive, but the price of it is. Bitterballen went down in a similar way to its name. Shrimp in filo pastry — ok but flavourless. None of it was that exciting, but it sure won on location points.
