This hotel is completely shot. They spent all the money from the insanely over priced rooms on decorating the lobby and there’s been no update to the actual accommodation since the early 1900’s. Stairs are misery for anyone over 5’7″ and it’s just not even worth half the money. 1⁄10 do not recommend.

Bliss? Or Blyss? However you pronounce it, it’s definitely comfort at a high level! I stayed here for one night at the hotel Blyss in Amsterdam, after arrival from Paris du Nord on a recent European vacation trip. I believe I got room# 101 for this stay. I think it was my first time seeing the flush mechanism on the room toilet as being a nob in the center of the tank. It was a culture shock, but not uncommon. You pulled up to flush the toilet. Odd, but true, as it was probably a Netherlands type of deal. The hotel Blyss seemed to be a boutique type of hotel /condominium in the heart of Amsterdam, conveniently located next to Vondelpark at 47 Vondelstraat. The pricing here can be budget friendly to moderate pricing, but I felt like I had gotten a good night’s sleep here(7 ½ hours) and a pleasant stay here all around, so I would say that’s bliss. Or Blyss. I think I had paid around 139 euros a night. Not bad, but not terribly pricey either — from a budget friendly standpoint. The hotel Blyss accepts major credit cards, which is always a plus. They tact on a service fee for my useage of my American Express. That’s alright, though, I’m on vacation! Since the hotel Blyss is located in somewhat suburban surroundings, I wasn’t sure if they had a private parking area for guests. Since I walked it here from Amsterdam Centraal station and Vondelpark, the idea of me driving a rental car is moot, unless I return here on a future stay. The check in process was rather good. I was greeted by who I thought was the manager of the hotel and the front desk staff. I am glad that one of them had a good grasp of the English language, as I was told that most everyone spoke English. The process was rather quick and expedient, although climbing the stairs up to my room for the night was rather tedious after a long day of travel, but I made due. The wifi in the room was strong, yet spotty in some areas. The hotel in general was rather nice, yet small and comfortable at the same time. I don’t think they have the other amenities like other properties do: like swimming pools and hot tubs. The hotel manager even asked me the next morning during check out how did I sleep and that was a nice question to hear. I thought that any feedback helps this hotel grow and improve. The hotel lives up to it’s moniker and Blyss means bliss — spelt differently of course. The room itself was small, yet large enough to move around in. It was prime Living up in here, even though it wasn’t exactly living large. Still, the room was clean and organized. It felt like living in someone’s apartment for a night while they were out of town, but no kitchen in the unit. The bed was comfortable — after being in it for 2 hours and finding that comfort needed for that bliss zone. The accommodations were quite adequate and was happy with my stay. Definitely glad, as mentioned before that English is spoken here, along without fail. Just remember to bring your credit card(or cash) and you’ll be treated well. Even if it was just one night here at the hotel Blyss, it was a good stay here. I would definitely recommend staying here. I would not say it’s budget friendly, but affordable for your travel needs during your stay in Amsterdam. A fan for life! Bliss happens here. Support local! B+

A nice hotel, smiling service and comfortable rooms. Lacks a bit if the little details I appreciate(like attention to missing knobs on the bathroom cupboards, a bit of peeling wallpaper). However on the whole it is very clean. We paid 185 for 3 nights which I found very reasonable for a double room. They could, however, bring down the price if breakfast should they ever want someone to take them up on their offer. 10 € a person gets you some tasty coffee and pastries at Starbucks which is just around the corner! Don’t hesitate to give this place a try!
