Good place to relax and grab a bite with coffee, tea, beer, or something stronger after a long day at the museum.

It was good, but there are better. I found the food here to be pretty good, but it isn’t one of my favorite places to eat in Amsterdam. I had a brie, walnut, and honey sandwich. It was good, but nothing to write home about. My husband had the Caesar salad and found it fine. I feel like that is the theme of this place. It is good, but nothing stands out. They have some tables outside. This place is good enough that there are always a couple people sitting outside. Service was also pretty good. I think there was only one server, but that was enough to handle the number of tables filled.

A friend and I ended up here after some window shopping at that high-end street nearby, so we just wanted to sit, have a hot drink, and a sweet side. They have a nice amount of seating inside, then a sun room, then a terrace. Lots of great options. This café has some great personality inside, and I really like that. The hot chocolate was the normal chocomel, so nothing special there and the appeltaart just isn’t their specialty. That is saying it nicely. I would like to go back to try other foods, but if you go for a beer and socializing, I think it would be really nice.

Definitely a favorite in Amsterdam Zuid if you aren’t looking for something expensive or too posh. Its also super close to Vondelpark, so its convenient to stop by if you’ve been walking through the park. De Gruter is «gezellig» and the food is pretty decent — the raviolis are the best, but don’t bother with the caesar salad if you’re used to the typical American style of caesars. The bar is a great location for a quieter drink in Amsterdam. This is a bar frequented by both the Dutch and expats, with a welcoming wait staff. During summer months the terras gets a lot of sun, so a good place to go to catch some rays while drinking a beer!

Not much to say about this stop. Stopped in for my last night«Goodbye Holland Heineken»(which taste so much better over there, by the way) and chilled at the bar. I will say the place seemed extremely popular every time I passed it — the outside area gets packed at the slightest hint of decent weather. Sat at the bar, and ordered the Dutch version of mozzarella sticks. They weren’t bad. I accidentally insulted the bartender by asking if Ws are pronounced as Vs in Dutch. It is my civic duty to tell you that NOTHEYARENOT, and apparently any German implications are taken very seriously by the Dutch. The bar area is quite small. Seems this is a spot you head to with friends. Service was ok.
