I have been here only once, for a brunch, and was not very impressed. De bieb (library) is described as a French style literary café, where Victor Hugo would feel at home. Eh, really? I thought it was rather empty and gloomy, nothing exciting. The same goes for the menu, they are very profound of their so-​called brunch. Which really isn’t a brunch, but a Dutch style breakfast, sandwich, coffee or tea and a nasty industrial yoghurt. My American friends were definitely underwhelmed, and rightly so. I hope the folks at de Bieb will step up their game, especially as there are many excellent alternatives in this neighborhood.
