This place is great. I loved the atmosphere and there were plenty of young adults(20 – 30) around enjoying each other’s company and conversation. Reminded me of a chill café in either North Park or OB in San Diego. The cappuccino was very good and the lady and serve or girl were kind. Check it out.

The low furniture makes this place feel like Alice in Wonderland. Very cozy & coffee was great.

Café/bar de lo mas agradable. Sillones tipo salon de casa y magnifica música de fondo. Puedes tomar todo tipo de tes, cafes y bebidas. Cerquita de los principales museos de la ciudad y de la zona de movida alternativa.

Way overrated. This place is «ok». Has the very old living room vibe with old furniture… cept, it not only carried through with the old look, it WAS very old and too old. The couches were so decrepit that when you sit, you literally sink to the depth of the wood frames of the couch. It was uncomfortable. Service was apathetic. They just didn’t care. if you order, you order, if you pay, you pay. There was nothing special about this place. The super yellow lighting didn’t make the experience any better either. Maybe it was going for a «warm» vibe? For me, it just felt old and dingy.

Great ambience, both in the décor and the crowd. We had the great luck to stumble here our first night in Amsterdam and managed to come back every day we were there. Solid cocktails and beers. It was very crowded most evenings we were there, so come a bit before 20:00 or closer to 23:00.

A top place! This small Berlin Style bar has a great beer menu and a great ambiance! Their menu include a wide range on German beers from classic to more craft brews. They also have prepare a very nice, Berliner, Moscow mule alongside with some other classic cocktails. Aside from drinks they also have coffee and have some bar food such as pretzels, nuts and home made cake. Over the weekends this place is normally packed to the brim, so might have to stand. All in all a small, not so hidden gem, worth checking out!

Extremely cozy place! Great selection of beers! Place devoted to Berthold Brecht. I would suggest coming here not with a big company, but for a nice cozy evening, to escape from Amsterdam’s buzz.

This place has personality! From the décor to the seating to the drinks, everything is so interesting. It really does feel like you are in someone’s living room. I completely understand why people love it! Menus are in Dutch and English, so there’s not much to worry about there. They don’t take credit cards here, but they do take pin and cash. And there are seats outside for when it is a beautiful day!

I absolutely love Café Brecht. It’s one of my favorites in the entire city. It’s completely different from any other café in Amsterdam, it really has its own character. It’s a typical Berlin café with mismatched sofas, tables, and table lamps spread everywhere without any particular order or organization. It just looks so warm and cosy! It’s a place to meet up with your friends to chitchat, slouched in a couch, grab a bite to eat. In terms of drinks, the menu offers of course beers, including german beers on tap. Don’t even try the wine, it’s terrible. Rather have a look at the cocktails, they have some nice things to offer in that department. They also have nice snacks, and lunches. The only problem is… it can get really difficult to get a spot!

Great atmosphere. Reasonably priced and excellent quality food. A really great stop if you near the Heineken experience or the Museumplein

Café Brecht is the ideal place for a cosy coffee with cake or after work /weekend drink. The décor is homely, with low set couches and chairs tightly gathered around small tables. The walls look like they are from a retro living room, with interestingly patterned wallpaper lit up by low-light lampshades throughout. The food is good, although you are limited in options. However, they have a great array of beers and wines and are the ideal place for a chilled out drink and chat. The current owner is really lovely and has been working on creating an amazing vibe for the past five years. I’ll definitely be going back to soak up unique music and atmoshphere again sono.

Café Brecht is a super chill German style bar filled with charming formerly plush and now slightly decaying couches and chairs and other vintage décor. A decent selection of German beers and a few of your Dutch standards. They serve some spritzers, a handful of wines and pretzels and other light snacks during bar only hours. You can also come for lunch for a fuller menu and desserts! It can be really tough to find a place in the evenings to sit as it’s extremely popular with both regular locals and tourists. There are a couple seats outside and usually some people also standing outside on nice nights. Come early if you definitely want to try your luck with potentially or not getting poked in the ass by a broken chair spring. It’s worth it, trust me. Friendly bartenders and good service. Order at the bar and you’re all set. Über cozy(see what I did there? heh) and unique place in Amsterdam!

This is a very sweet place. I think my husband and I were a little too old for this place, but if I had found it as a college student I don’t think I ever would have left. It’s definitely atmospheric, and the vibe is very bohemian. I loved the beer selection, and prices were very reasonable and the people who run it very very friendly. I think if you are young, and want a cozy place to hang out in Amsterdam, you could not do better than this place.

Very nice bar with good atmosphere and good beers drafts and bottles. many different sofas and tables. Local people ad a very relaxed soul. Good for talking. They also prepare good piadine(not very filled, but good quality). We came here twice, in the afternoon is more quite but even at night you can find a place or sitting outside. Good gin tonic too

Beautiful, cozy spot with a wide selection of drinks(and food — but I didn’t try any on this visit). Worth a visit simply for the interior — it feels like you’re stepping into the crazy tea party.

I went here three times in two days, if that says anything. Cute vintagey mismatched furniture, and they basically have the latest Real Estate record on repeat at night. They have board games too! Homey, friendly vibe, but it’s a popular place and gets crowded at night — I came here on a Monday and Tuesday nights and it was hard finding a place to sit! Can only imagine what it is like on the weekend. I had the vegetarian version of the tortilla sandwich, it was tasty and inexpensive. They also have a good selection of beer on tap, and the coffee is good too. Definitely check this place out.

Great place! It has a very unique and cozy vibe with eclectic furniture and decoration. I like that nothing seems to go together. It gives it a lot of character :) The food is pretty much what you’d expect from bar food. They have a great whiskey selection and my friends looove it. I am not a whiskey fan, so I’ll take their word for it :) If you can find a seat, you’ll definitely enjoy it!

Wow, Café Brecht, wow! I was so excited for birthday lunch here and I wasn’t disappointed. Stylistically, this place is beautiful. — The perfect mix of eclectic and kitsch. From the mismatched wallpaper, the tatty tweed chairs and huge looming lampshades, it’s all just wonderful and oozes vintage chic. We perched upon a particularly comfy chaise longue and gazed around in wonder. It’s definitely one of the most distinctive cafés I’ve been in. So much so that I just couldn’t help but ‘oooh’ and ‘aaah.’ I really did feel like I’d awoke in a 1920’s living room! We ordered some toasted filled tortilla sandwiches. I had mozzarella, pesto, rocket and grilled aubergine and it was delicious. I also went for the dreamnuts tea which had flavours of caramelised almonds and apple. It was delicious and nothing like I’d tried before! Service was fast and friendly and we were impressed with the bar, especially the range of gins. I imagine Café Brecht becomes quite the bar come nightfall, and having walked past a few times in the evening, it certainly looked so. This would definitely be a local haunt of mine if I didn’t live a good 500 miles away! Till another time, Café Brecht.

This is my favourite café in Amsterdam. Brecht is inspired by an old Berlin living room and might look a bit like your grandma’s house. Old chairs, little tables, flower wallpapers. Supercool and cosy. The café is often very crowded so if you want to sit down on one of the comfy chairs, come early! Brecht has a lot of cool German beers, wine and even champagne and other German drinks. They also serves sandwiches and snacks. The crowd is hip and artsy. Lot’s of students.

From the outside it’s hard to tell that on the inside there’s plenty of ambiance. It’s cozy, small and well stocked. There’s a good selection of German beers here. The staff is also friendly which is a big plus. It has a warm friendly atmosphere that is comfy, cozy, casual, laid back and inviting. The lighting is soft, pleasantly dark but not too. There are little nooks, couches and comfy chairs to sit in to just hang out and chat. This is more of a neighborhood bar than a tourist bar though I’m sure there were a few tourists there. It got real busy as the evening went on so it got a little loud but not too. There is also a menu with food, wines and all the beers. I’ll have to come in earlier next time to sample the food. This is the kind of bar I like to hang out in.

A friend of mine was having a going-away party here and it was a delight to be able to make it while I was still in town and also to hang out at this great venue. We made it here around 9:30pm and the place was jammed packed with people. I mean you could hardly move an inch. Wow, my friend was quite popular! Well its no wonder, she’s an amazing, smart and beautiful woman, and about to head off into the world doing something she has always wanted to do! So here’s cheers to her! The place has a 1920s Roaring Jazz feel to it immediately. Nice comfy couches, and with nooks and crannies all over. You saw people pretty much draped everywhere. I really liked the interior, very vintage German, and very sexy. Too bad I didn’t have my Flapper dress with a string of pearls, long evening gloves and that damn cigarette holder. But, I tell you, that was kind of what I was picturing when I walked in here. Or better yet, a bit of bunker style. Surprisingly, we were able to get drinks even though it seemed impossible to make it to the front of the bar and we found a table for three to chat! I’ll definitely be back again when I am coming through Amsterdam again!
