Very nice Indian place! While the looks might seem shabby be sure that the food will make up for it all! All curries are great! From medium curries go for Chicken Rogan Josh! Staff is friendly. This place exists there for quiet done years now. I am not even sure anymore if they need to renovate anything our just keep it this way for more years to choke…:)

I have walked by this Indian place many times and finally tried it last night. It was good — and spicier than other Indian I’ve had in Amsterdam. The poppadums with sauces were the best I’ve had since my London days. But: 1. The veggie dish they bring out with the food is nothing special 2. They did not have the bottle of wine we asked for They were quite busy and the service felt a bit rushed and chaotic at times. But worth a repeat visit nonetheless.

Food was good, but the service was poor. The waiter seemed disappointed in our selections. After everything was served, no one checked on us for drinks etc… Have been here before, but will not be back due to the rude and indifference in servers attitudes.

Excellent food with nice presentation. Will be coming back. Garlic Naan easily enough for two to share.

Very good food and excellent service. It’s always busy when we go. Reasonable prices and large portions.

Best Indian in Amsterdam so far. A little on the pricier side but worth it. The Darjeeling(vegetarian tasting menu kinda thing) is excellent. Solid papadum snacks too. Won’t disappoint.

Peter and I had a very enjoyable meal here. It’s not too far from us and we read the Unilocal reviews so we decided to give it a try. I loved how every table had a long lit candle, definitely adds a nice intimacy to the space. they serve you the indian crackers as a free appetizer with 2 delicious sauces and one type of vegetable relish. i loved the crackers because it had a nice saltiness to it but not too salty. We ordered the tandoori king prawns and butter chicken and they came with a side of basmati rice, naan and a vegetable dish. the king prawns were definitely nice and big and super yummy! the butter chicken was also nice but to be honest i’ve had better. i thought it was just a little bland but the chicken chunks in it were tasty and well cooked. not over cooked chicken. Naan and rice were also nice. the vegetable dish that came with the orders was ok. nothing special. had the same stuff the samosas had in it. speaking of. oh yeah, we also had samosas as an appetizer. they were great and i loved the wrapper it came in. crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. we decided to get dessert and we ordered the kulfi which was very tasty. not too sweet but it was definitely made with a heavy amount of condensed milk which thank god i like :) it almost tasted like a very cold caramel chew. the wait staff were very pleasant and attentive. I’ve had better Indian food before in Amsterdam but i can confidently say this is one of the better ones that is close to my hood. pijp/zuid area

One of the best Indian restaurants in Amsterdam and a favourite of many foreign friends who always want to visit when they are in town. Really good food and nice selection of choices. The samosas are really delicious — and I usually get a Chicken Tikka Massala, which is also delicious, though slightly sweeter than I’m used to from other restaurants(so unique!). If you eat meat, do yourself a favour and try the mixed grill!

I have to say that when I need de pijp to deliver, it never fails. I came here with a massive group(15) and they were very accommodating. They even suggested submitting names and orders in advance and when we all showed up, the food wasn’t far behind. The veggie samosas were to die for. There was a bit of a kick with the pea & potato combination inside. I had the chicken tikka masala. It was creamy for sure but the chicken was still extremely tender. Not sure if this is the norm at all Indian places, but they bring out a warming plate to put your main on it to keep it warm without cooking it. The only knock I have is that I asked for spicy and it was at most mild. Maybe I have a higher spice tolerance than others or maybe for Dutch standards that was spicy. If you’re a hot fiend, ask for a couple levels up than what it says on paper to get your fix.

The food was quite good but the service wasn’t the friendliest, plus they charged us 6 euro for a bottle of water, a bit too much. Water aside the price were quite reasonable as the main course came with rice or naan and vegetables.

Best Indian in Amsterdam. A varied menu with veg, meat and fish options. The King Prawns Madras is my favorite. Consistently great food.
