Very tasty Pink Panther drinks. The service was attentive. My french toast was uncooked inside and really eggy. I didn’t like it. The mascapone was weird tasting but i liked that part. My Mum had bacon that she said was delicious. She really enjoyed the spicy indian flavours in her chutney. If you like a bowl of French style coffee this is your place.

No no no… Don’t do it. It’s just terrible. Waste of money. Food bad, service clueless. Coffee abhorrent. You have been warned!

Worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Once seated we waited 20 minutes for a menu and then a further half an hour before someone took our order(only after being prompted). The food was definitely not worth the wait and coffees/drinks never arrived at all. Even after we asked where they were twice! Had to ask for water as well. Staff were literally RUNNING around the restaurant while the manager just took people’s money and played on his computer in between. Atrocious. Never go here!

I have never been to the actual restaurant here, my review is going to be on the room they offer for function hire and the service they supplied us. We hired this restaurant as a venue for my grandparents gold anniversary. The function room that we used was moderately sized and was situated away and completely separate from the main restaurant so the whole room was ours. Mecca did pretty much everything, they supplied staff to serve us, catering and drinks as well as a projector screen and speakers that we used to show a video on. The food they provided was quite tasty, obviously it wasn’t 5 star restaurant worthy but everyone seemed happy. There were a few selections on the set menu which I thought was good and they had a vegetarian option on offer too. Our service was great everything went off without a hitch. All up we really enjoyed our celebration here and I know that my grandparents did!

The food and service at Mecca Stonehouse in Mission Bay is pretty standard for all their cafes; brunch food, a selection of salads, meat dishes, etc. In fact I think the other Mecca in Mission Bay might even serve the same things. What makes this Mecca a little bit different is the location. It’s not on the sidewalk or above street level like most of the cafes and restaurants in the area, it’s got its own little peaceful courtyard, nestled in the park next to the carpark. The stonehouse itself is historic too, so well worth a visit. I would say while the outdoor seating is lovely, in summer be prepared with some sunscreen as the tables have shady bits but the umbrellas aren’t big enough for everyone to dine in shaded comfort.

The outside café is a handy place to go when you are meeting up with a large group. It tends to be the venue for school class meetups or coffee groups — where everyone can arrive at an approximate time and it doesn’t matter who orders when. There’s enough room for all your strollers, although it’s not designed to be kid friendly(it’s an upmarket café). There’s outdoor barbeque tables and some play equipment for little kids, and there’s also an area that is weather-proofed. For bigger kids there is the Mission Bay playground right there. Food and drink is pretty standard café food.

We came here for my graduation last December and were pretty disappointed with our dining experience in Mecca. We had it planned — a nice meal by the water and then we would take some photos. From the start, I felt unrelaxed — the tables were too close together in the outside dining area and I felt I was sharing my graduation with complete strangers. The waitress(who wasn’t particularly friendly) told us while we ordering that they had no potatoes, just kumara. I thought that was odd and in all my years I have never heard of a restuarant without potatoes. I mean, what was stopping them going out and buying a bag of goddamn potatoes? I ordered a chicken noodle salad for my main which was not particularly nice. Despite the fact that it was priced at $ 27, it was like something you’d get in a takeaway. Overall a very disappointing day and it was compounded by the fact that I had to queue at the till for about 15 minutes to pay.

Mecca Stonehouse is a perfect place for a romantic dinner or lunch during all four seasons of the year. If its during summer there is an option to seat outside in their covered area and if it’s cold there is space inside next to a fire place. I have been to Mecca twice and each time I have been there I have been greeted warmly by the wonderful staff members. The service is excellent and makes the meal even more delicious. Their bread and dips is to die for! As for the food it is delicious and always fresh. I like the consistency of the service and the food. The other wonderful thing about Mecca is the walkway, you actually walk on cobbled stone and forget you are even in Auckland. It is right next to the beach so you are able to enjoy the breeze, the fresh air as well as the scenery while you enjoy a beautiful meal.

My first experience with The Mecca Stonehouse was on a quiet Wednesday night with my partner. We were one of three other tables having dinner and we were very happy with our seat by the fireplace– very cosy! I love the ambience there, its a great dining area that’s not too big, its just right. Service from beginning to end was exceptional and not too over-bearing, big thanks to Alex who was our host that evening and made sure our dinner was perfect. The food was delicious– we tried the baked chicken with kumara mash and pan fried snapper with garlic mash potatoes and were not disappointed. They display their menu right ouside the restaurant entrance, so feel free to browse without the commitment, although its worth a try at least once. The Mecca Stonehouse also has a café area seated outdoors which has a great view of Mission Bay. I’ve yet to head there for brunch but its definitely on my go-to list.
