Make any additions to a sandwich and voila! Those additions are the *only* things you’re gonna get on your sandwich. It’s like a game of switch and delete here, ask for«light cheese» on your classic fully-loaded No. 9(comes standard with onions, peppers, and mushrooms) and boom! All you’ll get is steak and light cheese. No onions, peppers, or mushrooms. See how this works? You MUST micromanage any order you make over the phone here. There WILL be a misunderstanding if you don’t. Just when you think you’re in the clear, you’ll be 20 minutes away ready to enjoy your perfect sandwich and guess what? It’ll be missing *everything except* the little adjustments you thought might make your sandwich even more perfect. A cruel and way-too-common D’Angelo mistake that nobody complains about often enough. Dear Mr. D’Angelo, I think it’s fair to say you owe me at least 10 sandwiches for the 5 you screwed up.

I love the subs here. Steak and cheese from D’angelo beats them anywhere else. They’re always super friendly and the place is clean and parking is easy enough. When I want a hot sub, this is the place I go, they never fail to hit the spot.

You’d hardly know this location is part of a chain because of the«neighborhood place» vibe that pervades your experience there. All of the subs and wraps I’ve tried have been excellent — fresh through and through, and with a respectable if not«stuffed”-caliber quantity of food. Having the choice of a wheat sub roll also makes the day of «some people I know» who like to have a healthy justification for what they’re consuming. Sorta like sipping vitamin water while indulging in a four-cheese five-meat pizza. The eat-in environment is unusually pleasant for a fast food joint. Cushy booths along the brick walls(which are adorned with black-and-white«local nostalgia» photos) complement counter-style seating at the front windows and numerous tables for two. What vaults this D’Angelo’s into the rarefied five-star realm, though, is the SERVICE. The food prep crew as well as the cashiers are unfailingly at the top of their game. Orders are handled with blinding efficiency.(At lunch today a line of some ten people was completely taken care of well inside five minutes.) Yet the person at the register is always cheerful and chatty as she or he runs the transaction. Then when an order is ready the«kitchen» worker who passes it to the customer is cordial no matter how harried they are. No yelling out of the number on the ticket followed by back-turning and running. You’re handed your food directly and given a typical banality like«Enjoy your salad» or «Have a good afternoon» that’s always nice to hear anyway. One particular service-related incident stands out. This transpired when a woman on crutches took a seat at a table after ordering. As the cook called her name when her request was completed, he spied the crutches when she responded. «No, no, you stay right there!» he commanded. Whereupon he scooted from behind the counter bearing her food and brought it straight to her table, presenting it with a flourish and a big grin. Most cool.

I often have a hard time getting my order correct with some staff members who talk over me and assume they know what I am going to order. Other than that I really like this place. The veggies are fresh, the food tastes great and the place is always friendly and clean.

As much as I enjoy coming in here; it is always cold in here no matter the time if year… I am wearing my jacket to eat. Every time I come here the one woman who works here remembers me, and knows what I like.

Went there today for lunch and had the lobster 4″ roll and soup. Well, I was really excited to finally have a lobster roll… being from CA and hearing so much about this famous sandwich. Well, I was utterly disappointed when the sandwich arrived. Yes, the wheat roll was toasted nicely, but I had asked for extra lettuce and there was very little to say the least. In the picture on the wall, the sandwich is filled well with the creamy lobster mixture. Well another disappointment, there was so little lobster salad on it I could see the bottom of the wheat roll! It did taste very well… but, not anything like the picture and not anything like I expected. Now the soup, I ordered chicken soup and it was more like chicken broth. It literally had three carrots, three noodles, and a sprinkling of chicken bits! Needless to say… quite disappointed!!! This California gal will have to try something closer to the wharf I guess to get a tasty lobster roll!

Love the woman who’s usually there during the day. She’s so personable. And she remembers me, what I like, etc, after only two times. Sandwiches — you get so much more meat and extras then with Subway, who I always have to ask fro extra because they barely put anything on. Love these guys. Only reason I don’t give 5 stars is because a couple times, I have called in an order and they screwed it up. But, they are so nice and always offer a free drink, chips, or whatever, that it’s no big deal.

I had a Chicken Bacon and Vermont Cheddar Toasted Classic sandwich. The chicken was gross, there was almost no flavor, and the bacon was indiscernible from anything else in the sandwich. I bit into the sandwich three times, spit out the last bite, and tossed the rest away. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that I’m hoping their lunchmeat sandwiches are better. I don’t think I’ll try them.

I had take out from this place today and I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised. I rarely order takeout from little sandwich shops but I was in a pinch and I expected to get something borderline edible. What I go was something that rivaled pretty much every other sandwich I’ve ever had that wasn’t twice the price and featured on the Food Network or famous through some other mechanism. I had the chicken parm selection and the chicken was not only warm when it arrived but of good quality. The cheese was well placed and the marinara was rather yummy. I literally had a pound of chicken wrapped up in that perfectly toasted bread. I wish I had a little more sauce and cheese, but if I get the chance again I’ll just request that to start with. I followed the awesome sandwich up with some cookies which were ooey-gooey-and-oh-so-chewy perfection, a difficult feat for cookies which were not fresh from the oven hot(but absolutely were cooked fresh today). Would I go here again? Hell yeah. Would I cater a large group with them? Absolutely. I travel a ton and have had food from delis and sandwich shops all around the country and this is by far the best one yet.

I’ve written a review for a D’angelo in a different location, but my opinion stays the same in terms of the quality of the food. The service here is always quick, the staff is very friendly, and I have no complaints. It is rather spacious and there are plenty of seats if you choose to dine-in. They also accept call-ahead orders. Can’t go wrong with a sub from D’angelo!

I’m impressed! When you think of sandwich shops you think of Subway, Quiznos and D’Angelo(s). Regular, toasted, wrapped or traditional sub. With or without veggies, you decide. Here this concept is familiar but slightly different. This was my first to a D’Angelo restaurant… ever! I’ve always been partial to Subway and Quiznos but now with the Mmm, Mmm, Mmm toasty sub shops disappearing a new grilled sandwich alternative must be found. So after work I take a trip to my local D’Angelo sub shop and couldn’t immediately make up my mind from the various selections. I couldn’t help but begin comparing D’Angelo to Subway. First, the appearance here is more welcoming and comfortable. It’s obvious that they want you to stay and enjoy your meal here. Booths were the first thing I noticed and I’m talking COMFORTABLE booths! Not hard, get your ass, hurry up and eat plastic seats. Nice, big, cushy, large tabled seats. Second, the extensive menu, soups, wraps, cold, hot sandwiches and desserts. Of course this isn’t unusual of many sub shops these day but if Subway hooked up with Boston Market then D’Angelo’s would be the love child. Traditional subs meets class. Your orders are not made in front of you but behind-the-scenes and served up on plates that are exactly like Papa Gino’s(I think D’Angelo is part of the same corporation). It’s a nice touch unlike Subway who shoves theirs in a «see-ya-later» bag with a napkin. And finally taste! Now, looking back I should have ordered something other than«Chicken Parm» because it was almost exactly like Papa Gino’s but with a bit more class. My sandwich was served on multigran bread which gave it a nice light, healthy taste but like most Chicken Parm subs it isn’t the easiest thing to eat until it’s almost cold. Hey, you try eating it without strings of cheese stretching from the sandwich to your mouth like a mini suspension bridge. Overall, my experience here was very enjoyable. I didn’t catch the cashier’s name but he was very, very friendly! I like it when there are people out there who can make the simplest things very personable. Prices here are a bit more expensive than any other sub shop I’ve eaten at but you get what you pay for. Before making a trip look around for some coupons that will help you save some dough. Enjoy your stay, relax and get a good meal in you.

Yikes — the other review for this particular location is shocking. I would hate to have to look so foolish in front of clients. I frequently order food here for my clients, but have not experienced anything similar to this. I typically place the order over the phone, get in my car, drive about 7 or 8 minutes, and pick the sandwiches up without any major problem. But just from watching the flow between register and sandwich makers, and knowing fast food in general, I could see how perhaps Julie K could have an extremely different experience. A golden tip for the casual D’angelo-on-Third –treeter. Call ahead. You will likely spend a minute or two on hold. If you spend any more than a couple of minutes on hold, hang up and call back. Don’t get frustrated, because call-in orders have a separate line to the side of the counter area that gets to cut everyone else. Especially if you smile largely and try to make eye contact with someone at the register Your sandwich will be waiting on a wire shelf right near the registers, and you can check the slips for your name and see if they got your order right. The staff rotates frequently, so YMMV. I like it here, and it beats the cafeteria, which I would never subject my clients to. Foah stahzs.
