This were suggested to us by a co worker so my husband and I went on Valentine’s Day weekend. We had reservations but still had a little bit of a wait… but it was so worth it! The food and service was wonderful and the hibachi chef was very entertaining. You get a lot of food so it’s definitely worth the price. Since it is a hibachi they seat in groups of 8 unless you go over to the sushi bar. This place is always busy so I would suggest reservations or call ahead on the weekend if you don’t want to be waiting for an hour or more.

Went during restaurant week and it was madness. We had reservations and still had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated. I thought the point of reservations was to reserve your spot so you didn’t have to wait. Inexperienced staff is probably to blame for that, maybe some education on how to handle the front end of house would be good for them. Once we got to the table it was fine, the waitress wasn’t consistent with coming and refilling drinks for anyone at the table which frustrated our table mates more then us since we weren’t drinking anything but water and wine. Food was tasty and there was a ton of it. I had enough for 4 more meals. I will give it another try when its not restaurant week and maybe give more stars. I’d give it less but the food was fine the service wasn’t.

The food is great and the customer service and entertainment is EXCELLENT! The cooks are so down-to-earth! They are more like comedians than cooks. The entire staff takes their time to give you a great experience. The restaurant is huge and I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes(with no reservation). I go about twice a month and have a great time every time. One night a week is military discount night with 30% off, I believe. If you have an allergy, tell the waitress and the chef– the waitresses sometimes forget(human mistake but definitely a serious one). Best hibachi is Summerville & Charleston!

As far as tepanyaki goes they’re good. Our time with the chef was hilarious, we got seated pretty fast considering we were there during peak hours on Christmas Eve. Our server was really attentive she must’ve filled our drinks like 5 times! We enjoyed our experience and will definitely come back.

We have been coming here since it opened and ate at the location on Rivers before that. That location is no longer named Yokoso. Great food and experience at the hibachi grill but enjoy the sushi also. Best teriyaki chicken anywhere. Period.

Normally when I’ve gone to a Japanese steakhouse it’s always been Wasabis instead of here. I don’t think the food here is bad, but the experience here isn’t as good as other places.

Great food. Wonderful performance chefs. I went for Sunday lunch on 10⁄18 and had the laziest waitress ever. For that kind of money they need to be spot on. If it wasn’t for the waitress in the black horned rim glasses I would give 5 stars.

Our groups favorite place to meet on a Friday or Saturday. We like to go to the bar area for half price apps, yes on Fri and Sat! Service can be a little slow so don’t be in a rush, but the food is worth it!

Absolutely no complaints. Party of 6 of us. Service was excellent and attentive. Hibachi Chef was very friendly and skilled. Left 25% tip. Food delicious. Will go back in a heartbeat.

The food was great. The service was terrible, one waitress for the entire sushi side. Soup was forgotten, drinks weren’t refilled, no napkins, silverware, or chops sticks given with the food. 2 of our sushi rolls were forgotten. Everyone’s orders came out enter mixed on the plates. 6 people total, 4 from out of state, very disappointing dinner for our guests.

This is my favorite hibachi spot, even my favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is nice and inviting. The food is great! The chicken here is the best hibachi chicken I have ever had. Steve, T, and Japanese Bob are my favorite chefs in the joint.

I am a fan, but my guess is, those who had reservations later may not be… The food and service at our table was stellar, but our other party was less impressed. We just had a wonderful chef and server… and I’d suggest on the weekend, with a large party, book an EARLY table. We enjoyed the experience, and I hope they can ensure their servers are equally good, as ours was.

This was our first visit to Yokoso and coming from California where Benihana started the whole japanese steakhouse hibachi trend, we were not sure what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised on all aspects of our dining experience. The food was super delish, entertaining to watch and we found it really enjoyable. The service was fast, but I think not offering additional drinks or dessert is a miss. The staff was friendly and pleasant as well as our chef, who engaged in conversation with us and was super nice… he prepared our food perfectly as well. We had the filet and chicken along with some sushi which was all very good. Would go back for sure!

Took the kids on a Sunday night, to try something different. We loved it. The service was excellent, food tasted great. The portions were about 3−4x too big, the waitress brought takeout boxes with the check. Plenty of leftovers for lunch!

Went yesterday for lunch with 5 friends. Big mistake. Lunch shrimp bowl had about 8 or so 45⁄50 count shrimp with a sticky sauce sitting on top of white fried rice and 2 slivers of broccoli. Their best bet would be to quickly take down from outside the banner proclaiming NOWOPENLUNCH. I hope the other 2 patrons in this approx 200 seat restaurant fared better. In all fairness one of my friends said his bennito box was good, but it was also his choice of restaurants for our lunch.

We really lucked out, and had the pleasure of Chef Steven for our hibatchi meal. He was funny, engaging and he got the entire table consisting of three separate groups talking and laughing together. The food was delicious. I got the ribeye steak meal, and my fiancé got the chicken meal. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food.

In all fairness, I’m not really a huge fan of hibachi in general. You’re at a table with a bunch of strangers, watching your food flip around and fire flare in your face and that is followed by the awkwardness of those same strangers later watching you eat. Not my favorite. Also, if you don’t get your beverage ordering in during the three moments the server comes to your table before and during dinner you’re simply going to stay thirsty which is a huge irritation for me because I’m the annoying patron constantly asking for water refills wherever I go. Ok… enough with my general weird hibachi issues and onto the whole point of this — the review! This is the second hibachi joint we’ve tried in the greater Charleston area but it was a pretty decent hibachi place. Our chef was fairly entertaining and actually did an onion trick I’d never seen before — pepper«fireworks». Versus the only other hibachi restaurant we’ve ventured to so far, I have to say that the sauces here were much better. Though I don’t understand the appeal of «white sauce» and often find it difficult to watch fellow hibachi eaters make rice pudding with the three cups of fried rice they give you plus the quart or more of white sauce they end up mixing into it. Nevertheless, the«white sauce» here was OK — and the other people at my table seemed to greatly enjoy it. The meat was decent — the steak was a bit thinner than other hibachi experiences but it wasn’t too bad overall. Overall, despite my hibachi issues, I’d eat here again(especially since my husband is a hibachi lover) but probably hope to have time to sample the sushi. Also, beware — the entrance to this place is slightly difficult to find as you have to travel to a side road to get to the side road to get to the parking lot!

This Japanese Steakhouse is a little hard to find in the dark if you’re not familiar with the area, but once you arrive, you will be surprised. The grande entranceway is impressive. The food was great and our server Steve was a delight for the night. He made us laugh and he seemed like he was having so much fun until we barely noticed that he was working. The waitresses kept our drinks full and we never had to want for anything. If you’ve never been to a Japanese steakhouse, this is a good one. Make sure you get the complete deal including onion broth, salad with ginger dressing, and a combination of meats to your liking. You will have leftovers!
