This is my absolutely favorite Japanese steak house. I’ve come here countless times for family/friend birthday dinners and dates. I actually went here on my first date with my(now) husband. We made it a thing for when we wanted to have a dinner & movie date night, we’d eat at Wasabi and get some sushi, and then go see a movie right at the Azalea theater since it’s literally walking distance. I love the sushi. The ambiance and experience is really nice. The decorations and the way the restaurant looks inside is super nice and clean. I’ve never had a problem here.

Food is superior, service is excellent. The hostess is a bit abrupt but with food this good it’s worth it.

I think this was an all around good experience for me and my family. I took them plus a bunch of my co-workers and enjoyed the night with entertainment and good food. There was so much food left over I took it home and it was just as tasty for seconds. Only thing I wish they would change in reservations. They have a call ahead reservation which doesn’t solidify your spot until your whole party is there and that’s when you would have precedence over other people. If you have kids and they are picky eaters maybe not best spot to take them. Mine only eat chicken tenders, and tatter tots which isn’t offered. However; I do give it 4.5 stars.

sushi and salad were great. I had a lunch with a great friend of mine. I got a creamcicle drink and it was super strong! The waiter was great & knowledgeable. The lady that sat us… didn’t listen to a single word we said. We were just going to sit at the bar… she seated my friend and I at a table near the sushi bar. The bathrooms were absolutely nasty! It felt as if I walked into a completely different building. Toilet paper everywhere, paper towels everywhere, stuffed stinky toilets. The handle on the stall was pretty crappy too.

We frequently visit from Maryland and this is at the top of our list. We have even contemplated on driving down on a weekend just to eat here. The food is fresh and plenty of it. Entertainment is good as well. Love the mustard sauce as that is not an option in Maryland hibachi restaurants.

Our server was attentive and helpful. The food was fine, but it took forever for our chef to show up. And(this isn’t the restaurant’s fault), we won the«horrible people to sit by» lottery. That’s a risk you take with a hibachi restaurant.

If Yokoso is packed, I’ll come here. It’s not my go to. It’s not terrible by any means, I just prefer the latter. Even our chef said they aren’t great. That’s saying something. I’d say the atmosphere in the waiting area is not great. Everything feels a little cramped with the cramming in of decoration to make it feel authentic. Their food is pretty good, definitely not bad. However, their scam roll is superb! All in all it, s not the best, but it’s not the worst.

I ate here a few months ago and have been DYING to go back — it was awesome. The first time I’ve ever had hibachi and it was delicious. The mounds of rice, vegetables, and meat of your choice blends so well together, and the white sauce is to die for. I took extra for home! It’s a great, fun experience, and I would highly recommend sitting at the hibachi grill.

We made a reservation for 7:15 and weren’t sat until 45 minutes later. We sat down at our table and waited another 45 minutes for the chef to come to our table to cook our food. While he cooked our food, he was making jokes to a group of people that were already impatient. To top it off, he made jokes that were completely inappropriate. It’s safe to say I will never return to this restaurant!

Like most people giving a less than stellar review — it has nothing to do with the food. We made reservations for the hibachi grill for 5:30 and didn’t get seated for 45 minutes. There were so many people waiting, they were out of places to sit. Once we finally got seated, it took another FIFTEEN minutes for a waitress to come by just to get drink orders. From there I have no idea how long we waited for the chef to show up but it was still too long. The food, as always, was excellent. But the service is subpar — even when I’m only coming in for sushi. Either they don’t have enough staff or the management needs work. Considering how expensive everything is, you should be treated better and leave wanting to return. I’m not sure that’s the case for me. 3 times is plenty to prove you don’t know what you’re doing. What a shame

The food here is pretty good. Can’t complain too much about that. The service once you get seated is good, too. However, the one thing I can complain about is their reservation system. It specifically says reservation, not call ahead seating. We got their minutes before our«reservation» and we still ended up waiting 40 extra minutes past the time we were supposed to be there. When I approached the hostess I inquired about the long wait when we had reservations for 40 minutes ago and she gave me a fake smile and said it is actually call ahead seating and you are not guaranteed a seat for the appointed time. Needless to say, they need to change the wording. If you want to wait forever for a place that is mediocre, then have at it.

Well I can see why this place has not good ratings. First off I made a reservation for 6:45 and when I arrived I had to wait almost 45 minutes! I was told even though I went thru open table and made a reservation for 6:45 doesn’t count it’s actually call ahead. I said no I made reservation and she said it isn’t a guarantee. After going round and round with her I noticed there we’re about ten other people in the exact same predicament. The food was alright and the service was alright but ninth worth the long wait and messed up reservations.

Undoubtedly the worst sushi I’ve ever had. On top of that, it was higher priced than other sushi places in Charleston. The sushi was completely bland. The rice was tasteless. We had to keep flagging down our server to ask for more to drink. The décor was okay. It was supposed to look fancy, but it looked old and rundown.

Went last night for my wife’s birthday we had reservations and we live and hour away got there 30 minutes before reservation time. Got seated quickly and waiter was speedy, chef not so much. Took over and hour for chef to come to our table. I ask the waiter what the delay was he said they only had 3 chefs that night. Brought out free appetizer but no discount on bill. When you pay good money you expect good experience. This was not the case this night. Food was really good but may not return.

I’ve always been a fan of the Wasabi chain. Good looking restaurants, good staff, and the hibachi is great in my opinion. I think their sesame seed, soy infused pile of bloat waiting to be consumed is a great recipe and would eat here about any chance I get. The sushi has been everything from really good to less than ok… the check-in I had this past weekend was on the side of ok(maybe they have changed chefs in the last year?). It’s always flavorful and seemingly fresh, and the prices for their rolls is very competitive for what you get in comparison to the bill you can rack up at some other places for lesser rolls. As far as the service, they have never been bad, but some of the hibachi chefs are better than others. Some are quieter and others are loud, boisterous, pyromaniacs(that of course, everybody loves). I dig the place, and if you go for lunch(they have a couple of different weird times for specials… check the menu or ask) you can easily knock off $ 5-$ 8 per hibachi order just for eating earlier. Not a bad deal!

We came for a surprise birthday party last night. Hubby and I had drinks at the bar first, our bartender was attentive and my second martini came out tasting exactly like the first, this is a rareity for me. After our quests arrived, we were sat promptly and our appetizers arrived in a timely manor. My soup was a little on the salty side, but my salad was dressed nicely and I was happy. Our chef was Mark, let me say A-Maz-ING! I’m a firm beliver that the chef at the habatchi makes the experience and here was my point proven! He was fun, energetic, and engaging. Our party was large and he and the other chef worked very well together, which can’t be easy in such cramped conditions when you can’t yell at each other ;) I’ve been a chef for ten years, working at some of the best resaurants in Summerville and Mt. P. My scallops were hands down as good as any I would have made for myself and better than any I have had in any other restaurant in four years. As one of my guests said, useually people drown their rice in the«white sauce,» but Mark’s food was so good it wasn’t needed. My veggies were cooked perfectly with a little char on them but still with a slightly crisp bite, not over cooked and soggie as I have gotten at other places before. My only complaint for the whole evening was that our server could have been a little more attentive, as one of my friends had to flag her down in order to get another beer. but, after that happened, she was right on the ball filling everyone’s drinks and making sure everyone was happy. I don’t useually do this, but in reading the other reviews I have something I really want to say; For anyone complaining about the bacon in the rice, order it without, but you would be doing yourself a disservice because it was very good and gave the rice sooo much flavor! And for the person complaining about the rice being cooked with butter: I come to habatchis to watch the chef cook. I’m a pretty good cook in my own right, but the fact that they can cook and entertain and make good food all at the same time amazes me. Yeah, I saw the big block of butter and watched him add some of that to the grittle and cook with it. The statement that it was too much is laughable, you should see how much gets added when you can’t watch your chef cook! My husband’s steak was cooked perfectly, and anyone saying their meat was«fatty» doesn’t know their meat very well as it was a beautiful filet. It is beyond a doubt that I will be coming back, I’m looking forward to coming and trying their sushi or lunch specials now. Thank you to the staff for helping to make this such a wonderful evening for my and my surprise guests, I loved every minute of it, even when I didn’t want to do the chicken dance.
