This place had amazing pulled pork! It was the perfect balance of smokey and juicy. The chicken was not good at all. The drumstick was not dried out, but it was bland. The breast meat was so dry that it was crumbling. The potato salad was ok… nothing special. My kids liked their grilled cheese and chicken nuggets. The side of fruit with the kids meal was a mix of melons, and was super fresh. The cornbread muffins were… unusual tasting, even my kids wouldn’t eat them. Overall, I’d go again, but wouldn’t get chicken or cornbread.

Located in a small(small) commercial center, this food and drinks place is not in the main stream of activity and you’re not likely to just pass by unless you’re intentionally around this back side of Heavenly. Second time here. The first time when renting a condo on this Nevada side of the mountain and snuck away with a buddy for a couple drinks. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night. A very broad menu for this little place — standard bar food plus their barbecue specialties. On this mid-afternoon Saturday, we arrived as the chicken was coming off the grill. I was almost hungry again. Here for drinks. Bloody Mary please. Ice cold glass, crisp bacon, nice spice. Sit at the bar and take in the view of the pines and mountains outside while playing video poker. Step out onto the deck and peer through the pines towards Minden, NV in the distance, backdropped by snowy mountain peaks. Clean and friendly here. Low key and not complicated. Interested? Just passed the casinos, go about 3 miles up Kingsbury Grade and turn right. On the back side of Heavenly. I think this is the back side. Open late night most days and until very early morning Friday and Saturday(technically, Saturday and Sunday early morning).

Had breakfast here yesterday. I had a breakfast burrito and my wife had the sampler. Food portions were very generous and very tasty. The waitress was pleasant but could have checked in with us an additional time for drink refills. Prices were very reasonable. I would recommend this restaurant for a hearty breakfast stop on the way to the slopes.

Taking it down a star. We went for dinner, the place was full, but we managed to find a small table for two. I’m not sure if they were short-staffed, or if the one big party of 12 was making the service extremely slooooow. It took about 50 to 55 minutes to get our food. Once we got it, everything tasted fine though I’m not sure if it was worth the long wait. So in short, I think you’re better off going for lunch here, better service.

With the sunny weather, great for driving, bad for the snow pack, it was a good time to check out the Fox and Hound BBQ and bar joint located right at the top of KIngsbury Grade along the ridge top. Normally it seems getting here in the snow is gonna be really hard with the steep grades involved once off the main highway, but today was sunny and the snowbanks(walls) were high. This was mid week, so it wasn’t super crowded like it is on ski weekends. It was a nice drive up here and easy parking. Entering, we’re greeted by a friendly bartender and grab a seat ourselves. A couple of beers and we browse the menu. I see loaded potato skins as appetizers($ 8.99), I love potato skins, so we start with that. While we waited for that, I selected the Spinach Salad with bacon($ 9.99) and my BF had the Burger with bacon and a fried egg added($ 10.99) served with fries. It takes a bit for the potato skins to come out, but we sip our beers and relax. The skins come out. There’re 5 on the plate. The potato skins really are almost just skins, as the potato had been really scooped out and only a thin shell remained … I like a little more potato left on my skins to bite into at least. Funny there were just 5 pieces, normally you get an even numbered pieces… did they run short? For what we got, $ 9.00 bucks seemed a bit high, although the taste was pretty good. The our entrees come. My salad is a decent size and the dressing is on the side as requested. I like that the spinach salad comes with lots of hard boiled eggs and bacon. My BF’s burger was a standard size and the meat was good he said. The fried egg was cooked properly for adding to a burger … just a little run left in the yolk to spread over the meat. The bacon was a bit on the thin side, not the super tasty thick cut that so adds to a burger experience. Overall, though a decent burger and fries for the price. My salad was good. Fresh spinach, no old wilty pieces and the eggs went well. Spectacular would have been a scrumptious hot bacon dressing on the spinach… but such was not the case. The Fox and Hound would be a welcome sight, if I were skiing up here and it was all snowing and I was staying nearby, as a place to get some grub and drink. It is a nice drove up here with no snow, but I don’t think it’s that special that I’d make a special trip to stop here. There’s plenty of other choices in Tahoe just down the hill. Nothing wrong with the food or service… well, OK, the potato skins were a bit overprice for what we got, but still. Come here if you’re staying up here on the ridge, but don’t make a trip just to come here.

Great chili. We were headed to our condo in a snow storm and stopped off for a bite to eat and drink. Was not impressed when entering. Seemed to be more of a locals spot. The beer was cold the chili was delish and bar waitress was a doll. Definitely stop in on our next snow adventure!

Stop there each time we are up in Tahoe(our beds are right up the street). My son and I ate there twice this trip. The folks in there are nice and the food is solid, drink glasses are huge. I’ve not tried their pizza, wanted to on our 3rd night but we were just too tired. Maybe next time. My son loves their pulled pork, I like their chili and their tri tip. Can’t say we have any complaints :) Okay my son said 1, they took out the video game :) Think it was deer hunter. We may need to try their breakfast sometime as well :)

Moved into the Summit Estates, quickly found that are closest options are Fox and Hound, Thai One On, and Mott Canyob. We’ve given Fox and Hound so many chances. The burgers suck. The pizzas mediocre. The larger red hair bartender lady was straight rude the first time I came it. No greeting, pretty much threw the menu at me. Didn’t check once during my stay or about the shit quality of the hamburger. Threw the $ 50 I won from blackjack at me. No comp’ on the beer for gambling? I was really holding my tongue. Should I feel obliged to tip someone who displays 0 customer service skills. Similar crap food 2 other times, with a group of housemates, and guests from out of town. Underwhelmed. I’ll be Poppin Off about it.

We had a destination wedding at a private home and we had catered BBQ for the rehearsal dinner(AMAZING) and the couple wanted pizza and hot wings for dinner. I showed Jessica pictures of how they wanted everything to look and oh my goodness! The food was perfect and the service, I cannot say enough about the service. Thank you!!!

Got a turkey wrap, very good and good fries with it, BIG drink glasses so no need for a refill and easy to grab some«bar food» on your way from/to the slopes.

Whoa, I got a little car«jeep» sick going up to this place, super turney! We came her for brunch after a crazy night of drinking and dancing. Let me just say the staff was the best!!! She kept our iced water filled at all times and was super funny, she knew we were hung. Had the Smokehouse tri-tip tacos… um yes please. They hit the spot and I won $ 50 bucks playing video poker while eating my lunch. I saw that’s a win-win. Great views from up there so if you are just checking out the scene stop by and visit the fun people at the Fox & Hound.

Our large family went to Fox and Hound for brunch during the week and for being a small BBQ place, they were pretty good! They smoke their own meat and have great service. They also have a small patio that allows you to enjoy the mountain air and sunshine! We all ordered breakfast food of some sort and for the most part, it was good. The only thing we noticed is that their eggs benedict were pretty over cooked. Breakfast sandwiches are served on delicious croissants, their waffles are smothered in fruit and whip cream and their french toast is toasted perfectly. Overall, for a little mountain restaurant, I would come back and try their lunch and dinner menus. They also have a late night happy hour drink menu!

Fox & Hound(not related to the chain) is a solid spot for breakfast or bar food if you happen to be staying nearby. This was the only restaurant within walking distance to our vacation rental, and it was clutch on several occasions. Service can be a tad slow when they get busy, but that was our experience at nearly every restaurant in this touristy area. I would highly recommend the huevos rancheros for breakfast and would caution against the garlic chips which take garlic to a whole other level.

Ate here on our way out of South Lake Tahoe after a bachelor party weekend. Once again I was coming off a marathon drinking night, and a few morning shots to stave off the hangover. I got a pretty hearty chicken-fried steak. The steak was standard, nothing to write home or complain about, but you could have drizzled the gravy over roadkill and I’d have still went to town. It was incredible. My only regret is not asking for more in my drunken haze. I don’t generally like hash browns(I know, I know, I should be hanged, drawn, and quartered) but these could stand on their own. I was impressed. Put the gravy on there and wooooooweeee it was heaven. They also had sturdy 22 oz. beers and they were good and reasonably priced, and that’s truly the way to my cholesterol heart.

Came with a group of friends and family for brunch and had to try their famous pig on burger or something like that. Good came out in about 10 minutes and fries were fresh but the meat quality was disappointing. The pulled pork and ham were definitely a few days old and tasted microwaved. For $ 12.99, I don’t know if I would say it was worth the full experience but I definitely would want to come back and try their other famous BBQ ribs and pulled pork. FYI: their WIFi password is «foxandhound1» It took about 15 minutes for my phone to sync with their wifi for some odd reason

What a great find! We were driving around looking for ‘views’ and we became STARVED. Cell service was spotty and we stumble across Fox & Hound. SCORE! Their plentiful amounts are EXACTLY what you want to stuff your tummy with in this mountain land. My mom and I split the Meat Combo? Called something like that. We chose the ribs and the tri tip. Some extra sauce was needed– their sauce is awesome! One of my favorite BBQ sauces ever. Plenty of food for the both of us. Everyone seemed very happy with their meals(photos provided.) You also get 2 sides with most of the entrees. We got the fries and the cole slaw. Definitely recommend the fries… the slaw was pretty meah. Our party of 7 comfortably sat together on the deck outside(we lucked out with the most perfect weather). Fantastic views. The best view however is probably seated at the bar indoors where you can also easily play video poker.

A Divey bar with great service and fantastic food! What more could you want after being on the slopes all day? I try to come here each time I visit Tahoe. The ambiance is a standard bar, but the bartender/server is great. He is funny and attentive and creates a great atmosphere. The food is also quite good. We often get there pizza, but the burgers, wings, potato skins, fish and chips, and other dishes are also quite good. There cocktails are very good and quite inventive. My brother had a smokey bloody mary with bacon. I’m not usually a bloody mary fan, but this was savory and quite tasty! My only complaint was the beer selection. Maybe I’m being too picky, but Lagunitas is not a «local beer» in Tahoe. I’m sorry! I’m from Sonoma County and Lagunitas isn’t even a local beer to Sacramento or San Francisco. So, the beers on tap were good even some great selections, but when going to a local watering whole, I want to taste the local beer. So, I will be back, but I am hoping that they add some beers from Nevada and the local Tahoe area.

I went here twice in one day. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. For those of you who say«I stood there and nobody walked me to a table.» READTHESIGNATTHEFRONTDOOR! It says«Please seat yourselves and someone will be with you shortly.» There are TVs everywhere. Mostly high-top tables, and some low-top tables. There are machines you can gamble on at the bar and around the bar. There is a deck/patio, but I went when it was too chilly to partake in outside eating. I’m sure it is great during summer months. Breakfast — I had the waffle sandwich. YUM. Dinner —(Which is why I had to come back) BBQ. SOMUCHFOOD. I had the ribs and tri-tip. So yummy. After a day of snowboarding for the first time, I had an appetite, but still couldn’t finish it all. Staff– The morning crew and the night crew were super nice and attentive. I had to witness patrons complaining to one of the waitresses, but she kept her cool. I don’t think I could have done the same. People don’t understand if you come into a restaurant with a bad attitude from the get go, it will be hard to enjoy your experience at all. If I ever stay at the condo I rented this weekend, I will come back to Fox & Hound.
