Had a great night out and on recommendation chose this restaurant. First off the seating was wonderful with great views of the mountains and lake. This place is very popular and reservations fill quick. Tonight was great, came early and sat by the bar and watched the game while waiting for our seats. The bar area can get hectic, especially on weekends but the bartenders are cordial and attend to all your needs. The hostess was kind enough to come and get us at the bar once our seats were available. Our seats overlooked the mountains and back patio area where a wedding was taking place. Nice to know that they have a large enough area to accommodate an event. Our server was very nice and gave us great tips on some of their popular dishes. Tonight I ordered the seafood grill and wife went with scallops and short ribs. Unfortunately they ran out of her first selection which was the flat iron steak, bit of a downer so just had to make due. They provide a mix of bread and crackers as a starter and our appetizer was a tuna mixed with mango and avocado. Not too bad and with a salad bar to match we were overwhelmed by the marathon of food at our disposal. Once our entrees were ready it was time to dig in, just a warning the portions were very generous to where with a mix of everything I tapped out in the end of the night. My dish came with a rice and asparagus combo topped with a crab cake shrimp. The fish was baked perfectly with a subtle seasoning. The Mrs opted for the scallops and short rib combo topped with a garlic mashed potato. She wasn’t to impressed with the meat selection, but the scallops were the best along with the mash. Aside from having to go with a backup dish I was pleasantly happy with my overall experience. Exploring Tahoe and watching some of the views from our seat is enough to bring me back.

Love coming here with the family for special occasions. We love sitting in Doug’s section and the hostesses do a great job of arranging this in our reservation. Food is terrific and we’ve never been disappointed eating here. My favorite Tahoe steakhouse!

I called for reservations for our anniversary dinner today at 1:00& was pleasantly surprised that a table would be ready for us at 6:45. Brittany asked if it was a special occasion & I told her it was our 26th anniversary. We arrived with our own bottle of wine & the corkage fee was minimal. The menu even had the date showing our 26th anniversary. What a thoughtful touch. The Kim Chee Calamari was to die for, as was the salad bar, King Salmon, Shrimp & Artichoke Linguini. The Hot Chocolate Lava Cake was delicious as well. Aaron, our waiter was prompt, courteous & extremely helpful. Watching the sun set over Lake Tahoe was the icing on the cake. As the saying goes«We’ll be back».

Went for dinner last night based on reviews here. Not sure if it was a bad night or what but we spent $ 120 for 2 people and due to the undercooked scallops, unfortunately we both got to spent last night in our hotel bathrooms instead of getting the much needed vacation rest we so desperately needed. Extremely disappointed. The service and ambiance was good and I can say the calamari appetizer what’s the best I’ve ever had… just wish the scallops weren’t undercooked and the shrimp wasn’t overcooked for a $ 35 plate…

First of all, no major complaints… The food in general was good, just bland. The 3 stars are for not having the ‘wow factor’ I usually get from ‘fancy’ or ‘5 star restaurants’. And let me also start off by saying I am far from a picky customer, I just know my food trust me(came from family of chefs). My fiancé and I came here for our 3 year anniversary for our first time. I’ve ate at The Sage room in Tahoe and I am blown away with the quality of food and service, but figured I would give Chart House a shot. Let me just get straight to the point; I ordered the Mac Nut Mahi and my fiancé got short ribs with scallops… We also had crab spring rolls for appetizer and a Moscow Mule and gin and tonic for drinks. Moscow Mule was way too strong and bland, ginger beer was not as ‘carbonated’ or ‘heady’ as it should be. The crab spring rolls were interesting… A bit bland all you could taste was crab and bell peppers. My Mac Nut Mahi came out and I noticed right away the dish was sloppy. Really bad appearance, there was sauce from my fiancés plate dropped onto mine and the food kind of looked as if it was just tossed on there. Mahi was really dry. Her scallops were pretty good… Again bland and slightly undercooked(very jelly-like texture and fishy). Short ribs were good too, nothing to jump up and down about. Lastly, we ordered mud pie and I got a Keoke coffee. I sent my coffee back because 80% of it was brandy and liqueur. I was hoping it would be mostly coffee with a splash of the alcoholic ingredients, but I guess I was mistaken it was really overwhelming(and I’m a pretty heavy drinker haha). Mud pie was awesome! Looks like next time we will have to just keep it at The Sage room.

Beautiful restaurant with a beautiful view. My personal favorite is the shrimp cocktail, which I didn’t get this time and really regretted. I’d recommend the chilled lobster and shrimp spring rolls. They’re absolutely the best spring rolls. The crab cake and kimchi calamari. The special they had was amazing. Halibut with crab and shrimp topping. The atlantic salmon with artichoke was cooked perfectly but there was something in the dish I really didn’t like. I ate off my boyfriend’s prime rib which is amazing. Mashed potatoes A++. Very good coffee. Nice view of the trees and a glimpse of the water.

My husband and I have been fans of the Chart House many years ago. We used to go to the one located in Half Moon Bay many times(sadly, it is no longer a Chart House, but some other restaurant now). Service is a tough call, sometimes its great and sometimes the wait staff seem overwhelmed. Always like the salad bar and you must try the Shrimp, Crab, Avocado & Mango Stack. We come up to this location everytime we are in Lake Tahoe. It is so pretty especially during sunset time.

The Chart House standard of an amazing dining vista never disappoints. The Happy Hour menu is as generous as delicious– seafood, beef, vegetarian, Asian, and American options. Recommend the kimchi calamari or the beef carpaccio plated with a healthy sized fresh arugula salad. Every server/manager we have meet at this Chart House has been top notch. Bonus: Sunday Happy Hour!

Steak house; national chain. All you can eat salad bar + steak/seafood. Been there long time, views of lake if you get there before sundown. Tourist crowd. Fantastic service, everything clean. Service and managers are trained to be exceptional communicators. They always proactively ask the customer if everything is ok and if you need anything. Pay for the service. Food is standardized to give a consistent experience both at the salad bar and grill. Nothing wrong with the food but the $ goes towards the service. Good for special occasions. $ 30++/person.

My lovely girlfriend and I had a wonderful meal, she was very happy with her Chilean sea bass. I was happy with my Paneed Chicken. Our waiter Doug had a good grasp of the menu and recommend a by the glass, nice pinor noir the Meiomi. The food had good balance and the texture was on point. After are main, we could not detour Doug from bringing my lady a mud pie for her birthday, which she enjoyed very much. The atmosphere was nice with a personal feel per table. However the lighting was a bit dim, i think a couple lumens more would have been just as well. Oh and I can’t forget to mention the view from the wall of windows on the west side of the restaurant.(It was dark :(, but at sunset) worth going back for more.

Sad to write another poor review. This place used to be top notch, and most of the food still is. Its the atmosphere that changed. I was in on Easter with my family and I will attempt to sum up my experience. First off. Someone needs to keep up on the salad bar. Everything was empty except the bowls of lettuce. The food was great… but heres what really gets to me. If you are going to eat at a «classy», «upscale», «pricey» restaurant, you want the whole experience. The quickest and easiest way to ruin a classy vibe is to have some Katy Perry song blasting in my ear while Im trying to eat a $ 40 steak! Change the flipping music already. This used to be such a nice place! What the heck happened? Its hard to enjoy an expensive meal while listening to maroon 5. Please someone do something! Hire a violinist or something for holidays! Put on some nice classical background music and up your game! Geez! My whole life this place has been our goto spot for holidays/birthdays/or any other occasion really. We would get dressed up and do our hair and make a night of it. Now no one cares about what they wear or how they look. Its just any other restaurant… with terrible music.

I’m not sure why anyone would give this place less than 5 stars. Maybe just an off night or something. For me the food was excellent, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was perfect. We started off with the oysters, then the chopped spinach salad. For my entrée, I had the 9oz filet(medium rare) with mashed potatoes and a side of asparagus. Then we split the lava cake for dessert. We ate every last bite of everything. Overall, it was a really great dinner — we had an awesome time! I will definitely come back.

Not impressed at all. We had some food to try it we would have diner there. But honestly, we asked for the check after the starters. The food was blend, no flavors… Very disappointing. Pretty in the plate, but very bad for the taste… Will not return and do not recommend. The food is not worth it. Service was ok, pretty attentive. The view is great, but nothing to see after dark.

The Chart House started off at 5-stars, but lost 2 stars because they overcooked a filet mignon… twice. Now I’m usually not one to complain, but when you’re paying $ 40+ for a steak, it should be cooked to your request. My table companion ordered her filet«medium,» and it came out«well done.» She sent it back, and then the server brought out another steak that was«well done.» There was no exaggeration here. The steak was a solid brown on the inside… twice. Other than the issue with the filet, everything else was on point. The salad bar is a great option to start with, as it has quite the array of food choices. I dabbled around on everything at the salad bar, and it was all around tasty. Wash your meal down with a bold Manhattan, they make ‘em strong!

My significant other made reservations here for my milestone birthday during our trip to Lake Tahoe for the weekend. We ran a little late but was seated within 5 minutes. The environment was dimly lit and very nice. It was a bit noisy but not too bad where you can’t hear the person next to you. We went after sunset so we didn’t see much but it was still a nice view where we were seated. The waiter seemed friendly but also kind of treated us like we weren’t old enough to order alcohol. It was like he thought we were college kids who had never been out to a nice restaurant so he didn’t pay too much attention to our table. He might have been having a bad day but it’s a little off putting to spend your birthday dinner and not get good service at a nice restaurant. An assortment of breads were provided but we weren’t too hungry and didn’t eat much of the bread. For an appetizer, we ordered a half dozen of oysters. The oysters were fairly mild and not salty at all. Whoever shucked these oysters did a horrible job but we still enjoyed them nonetheless. For our entrees, I ordered the coconut crunchy shrimp and my SO ordered the dynamite Chilean sea bass with a side of sizzling mushrooms. The coconut shrimp came out in a rather fun display and had the mango sticky rice in a pyramid formation. This mango sticky rice was a good side to the coconut shrimps. There were three sauces provided: a sweet light orange honey sauce, a coconut sauce, and a tenzu like sauce that reminded us of tonkatsu sauce. My favorites were the sweet orange and coconut sauces. The coconut shrimp as an entrée was $ 26.50. The sea bass my SO ordered was also pretty good but I don’t know if it was worth $ 41.50 since the portion was fairly small and it wasn’t spectacular. He got coconut ginger rice in a pyramid as well and that was also tasty. The sizzling mushrooms were hot and very good as a side to our entrees. Overall, the food was decent but expensive for the quality not living up to the pricing. The hostess told me happy birthday but that was the end of that. I don’t think it’s a big deal but when you go to a fairly nice restaurant, you’d expect a little more than the hostess saying happy birthday(not even the waiter said it). There were no customized menus or birthday dessert which is fine for me, but my SO was disappointed since he specifically wrote in the reservation that we were celebrating my birthday. Minus one star for the pricing, minus another star for the service.

We had an early Christmas dinner, our reservation time was 4:30 which was absolutely perfect to catch the sunset. We started out with appetizers of hummus, Caesar salad and lobster bisque all of which were fantastic. The hummus came in three different flavors with both warm pita bread and dried plantains. Our entrees were blackened tilapia, coconut crusted shrimp, Panko breaded chicken breast and prime rib. All of which were perfectly done. We ordered a couple of cocktails including Baileys with coffee and a berry Moscow mule. The Moscow Mule was very strong and it would’ve been nice if it had a little bit more berry flavor. For dessert we ordered a couple of chocolate lava cakes which were incredible… Hard to imagine there was room but there was! It was a perfect Christmas dinner. I highly suggest booking right before sunset so you can catch the spectacular view otherwise the windows are just black and not much to look out at.

My wife let me choose tbe restaurant for my 55th birthday, so I chose Chart House. I have been here before, but it was a long time ago. This dinner and experience was so over the top awesome, I have never been treated as nice and felt so special for my birthday. When i called up for a reservation, i requested a window table. They said they would try there best to accommodate. Us. The chart house is located right off state route 207. The view of the lake and sunset is spectacular. Andrea was our server, and promptly seated us at a window table. She then took our drink orders and presented the menu to us. My wife noticed it first, at the top of the menu it said Happy 55th Birthday, and the date. This blew me away. The manager then came over an presented a birthday card, and said please ask for her if we need anything. I ordered the filet mignon with a potato. Both were cooked just right and tasted delicious. We also got a free piece of mud pie for my birthday. It is this type of experience that words cannot describe. The food was fantastic, but rhe staff was better. Kudos to Andrea and Brittany. You made me feel special. Thank you

A special place in the hills of Tahoe. Came as a result of work so you knew something was up. Brittany and staff were awesome to accommodate our raucous party. Great American cuisine, good portions and taste. A place that gets my yummy vote. From the prime rib, seafood, appetizers. All items are worth trying. Drinks and wine are off the chart. I can’t say enough to this wonderful place. Enjoy!

I’ve eaten at a number of Chart Houses — there was a time when they were great, but I guess that time is past. This location is fabulous and the view was stunning. But once it’s dark, nothing makes it worth paying fine dining prices for totally average food. I also remember a time when the Chart House Salad Bar couldn’t be beat. This place charged $ 17.00 for salad bar, or $ 9.00 add on to the entrée. I’ve seen better salad bars at Sizzler. Seriously. If I had spent that money, I would have been pissed. The entrees were Golden Sea Bass with parm risotto. $ 39. It was totally just OK. The other was Brown Butter Mahi, goodish. Our server was not unfriendly — but cold and terse. I honestly couldn’t wait to get out of there. I cannot imagine there will be a time in the future I’d be willing to eat at a Chart House again.

We had a party of about 10. We were the last to get there, we had reservations. The group we were with had already started on there drinks. There was bread on the table for snacking. Our waitress came over and told us about the specials! It was a lot to take in! I just wanted to see what was on the menu! So the waitress took our order! My NEWSONINLAW knew we loved prim rib, and said there known for there Prime rib. Ok cool, because for me that’s what stuck out. They had a lot of things with sauces, that wasn’t Jay approved! So our table ordered several snacks, coconut shrimp, creamed spinach! OMG The creamed spinach was amazing! I’m not sure about the coconut shrimp, but the presentation was amazing! The hubby and I got the prime rib! it only comes with mashed potatoes! But you can order some veggies on the side! But let me tell you about this prime rib! Just a couple of chew’s, and you could swallow! It was so tender! and amazing! But the mashed potatoes were a bit much, but maybe because I ate a couple of pieces of bread! So I ate the meat, and left the potatoes! Then we ordered a couple of deserts! One was the lava chocolate brownie, with ice cream, and some crumbled heath bar on top! It was amazing! So when we return, I will stick with what I ordered, l but I want veggies instead of the potatoes! And the view! Wow! Service was great! I have nothing bad to say about this place! Check it out if your in the area!
