Bubbas BBQ Bash

Been making my own BBQ for almost 40 years. Bubba’s is darn good and I’m fussy. I would definitely come back here, especially for the Carolina mustard and vinegar sauce which I had never had before and was wonderful. In the mood for Q? Go to Bubba’s.

This is a great little BBQ place! I come to Spartanburg for business fairly often and this is on the list of places I try to visit each time. It’s right near the Hampton Inn where I stay and they have drive through window making this a quick pit stop. I get the smoked pork which is delicious. I like it with both of the BBQ sauces, the yellow being a bit spicier. The hush puppies are perfect, the mashed potatoes super creamy and a bit unique. My only complaint is that they are only open till 8:00pm, but that may just be an issue with me being a late eater and with the time difference from traveling.

We enjoyed this place so much on our spring break trip to Florida in 2015 that we made it a point to stop on our way back from Florida this year (2016) on Spring Break. The pulled pork sandwich is fantastic! You get a lot of food for a great price!

Friendly service. Local joint. Good eats. Great bbq. Don’t need to say much more.

Embarrassed to say I got the burger… at a BBQ joint! BUt when I was in line and saw them cooking, they were too good to pass up. It was very good. Fresh cut fries were very good too. Guys I had lunch with got the pulled pork. They said it was a good choice too.
Plenty of parking — albeit tight spots. Line moved quick and table seating immediately available right at lunch time… but it was busy. Food was served pretty quick.

Very low key. Very reasonably priced. Very friendly. Great ribs! I have not tried anything else but they have the best ribs in town that I know of.

I was in Spartanburg SC on business and my trip wouldn’t have been complete without some southern bbq. I am from Austin, Texas originally so bbq means beef brisket to me, but I like the southern style pork bbq as well. My tastes are not sophisticated enough to get involved in the sauce wars between eastern NC, western NC and Northern SC. I like them all and can’t tell that much difference.
Bubba’s was near my hotel so based on local recommendations and Unilocal,I gave it a try. I had the combo plate with sausage and pulled pork with hush puppies, fried okra, and mac and cheese. The food was good and prices reasonable. I have had better bbq but this was fine. The okra was particularly well prepared. Mac and cheese was — well mac and cheese. The smoked sausage was excellent. Place was a little divey but that is what you want at a bbq joint. Bbq was definitely an order of magnitude better than what we have in Minnesota. If I am ever in the Spartanburg area I will return.

Yummy! Great bbq and fantastic sides! Beef brisket sandwich and pulled pork– mustard sauce was fantastic.
Mac n cheese, sweet potato, and southern slaw all perfect! Staff was super friendly too. Iced tea tasted a little «off» was the only down side.

Got the hash plate… too salty to eat… not very good hash. BBQ coleslaw salty and spicy. Only the hash Browns were good.

Great local place. On I-​26 and need food. Flavor to savor. Sides are good. Chicken barbecue sammich was juicy, delicious, and a foodie memorable moment.

I got the half rack of ribs, with sauce, baked beans, slaw, and a side of Mac and. Geese. It came with three delicious crispy hush puppies. The slaw was a bit too spicy for me but was good; it was chopped smaller than most. The Mac and cheese was good, not creamy, but very southern, and the beans delicious. The ribs fell off the bone and they satisfied my craving for BBQ.
The place is bright with a couple of TVs on different channels both on mute. There was music playing. The temperature was a bit warm. Service friendly and efficient. I’ll be back.

So glad Spartanburg finally has a really great barbecue restaurant! My husband and I went there tonight for supper. The pulled pork had a great smoke flavor and was super juicy. I got the bbq plate with macaroni pie and seasoned fries, both of which were delicious. I love macaroni with bbq. It was the old fashioned kind. The staff were friendly and the place was clean. I loved it. My husband said the baked beans weren’t anything special. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some great bbq.

This place deserves 5 stars for price, product and service.
I got a full rack of ribs with two gigantic sides (potato salad and macaroni pie a.k.a. macaroni salad) and a drink for $ 22. Be advised that I’m not the kind of guy who notates, admires or even factors in decorum when I dine out. Bubba’s is a no-​frills restaurant with damned good ribs. Period.
The ribs were cooked with either a combination of charcoal and wood chips or straight charcoal. Whatever the case, I would assume that they slow-​cooked them because I looked at the rack of ribs and they fell off the bone. They were that tender. I barely touched them and the meat slipped right off of the ribs. That’s a great sign.
My rack was sticky and flavorful with a hint of vinegar in the sauce. The ribs had great bark with just that little hint of charcoal in the taste. The potato salad wasn’t sloppy and it wasn’t reductionist; it was just right. The macaroni pie was chock full of cheese and it was gooey and rich.
My friend works for the Spartanburg P.D. and he recommended Bubba’s. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in 40 years it’s that you can always trust a cop, a fireman or an E.M.T. when it comes to their food recommendations. They eat out a lot so they’ve run the gauntlet of dine-​in, takeout and delivery. Bubba’s does not disappoint. If you’re a Barbeque aficionado you need to go there!

This place is down to earth and has mighty good food. If you like ribs or bbq, then you must come here. They have a pick 2 or 3 plate. If you get 3, add the smoked sausage. It’s all good. Ribs fall off the bone and the bbq melts in your mouth. Nicest people you’ll ever meet behind the counter. I stop here anytime I’m close to Spartanburg. You should too!

Couldn’t ask for a friendlier place, & some of THE best cooked BBQ. Pork & chicken were both tender, moist, & delicious just on their own. Mustard sauce is good, & when mixed with the red gives a very spicy sauce with just a little sweetness. The fried okra, though, just knocked my socks off — not overcooked, moist, & cooked in obviously fresh oil. Marvelicious!

I love barbecue and have tried all styles and have found something to like about them all.
Bubba’s is alright, but to me it was too greasy and doesn’t rank up there with Charlie’s, Mutts or Bucky’s.
Besides their barbecue I also tried the Mac and cheese which I thought was greasy and the fried okra. The okra was pretty good, and actually the least greasy thing I tried. Also, Bubba’s is a little pricey for the quality of the food, but the portions seemed generous enough.
I probably wouldn’t go back unless my barbecue jones got so bad that Bubba’s barbecue was better than no barbecue.

This is at least a every other weekend destination for me. I’ve heard everything on the menu is great, but I specifically go on Fri or Sat for the brisket. Awesome smoke flavor, just the right amount of fat. Sides are great as well… Highly recommended the hush puppies. Service is quick and friendly.

Great staff and nice atmosphere. Ordered the B & B combo with slaw and okra. The meal was great. And the tea is top notch.

You must eat here! This is easily the best BBQ I have ever tasted!
My husband and I are on our way to Hilton Head Island and needed a place to stop for lunch. At the South Carolina welcome center, we picked up a BBQ map (I thought it was quirky lol). We picked a place close to us and I was leery about trying a new place spontaneously without reading reviews. But… Wow!
The décor is low key, and clean. Staff is very friendly. I ordered the BBQ pork «sammich» with southern slaw… Wow!
