Stopped in for a quick bite, on my way to Bryson City, NC. I knew I was in for good meal the moment I opened my car door and got a whiff of the BBQ that was waiting inside for me! I ordered the pulled pork, Memphis slaw and bourbon beans. My husband order pork ribs, collard greens/blacked eyed peas. The pork was juicy and flavorful. We enjoyed trying their homemade sauces that were excellent accompaniments. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and proud of their the BBQ as well they should be. Overall, great BBQ worth trying. I’ll be back for sure.

Visited based on Unilocal reviews and found the ribs to be outstanding. Place is small but clean and the service fast. My only regret was not ordering the hush puppies.

Been twice now over the past month and there are some great menu items and some not so great ones. Really enjoyed the ribs and hash and the bourbon beans and green beans were quite good. They have a few sauces to choose from between tomato based options plus a mustard one, all were quite tasty. The pulled pork and brisket while having good flavor, were on the dry side, possible cooking time issue but the great sauces helped offset the dryness. Hush puppies are decent but a lot of breading to eat as a side, would love to just get one piece with a plate and then two other sides. I have to agree with another review on the Mac n cheese, which was closer to plain pasta, not much flavor and lacking cheese. French fries were also bad, undercooked and soggy and lacking flavor though they were freshly cut, just needing another 5 or so minutes in the fryer and a little salt. Overall I would still recommend this place, it has potential, just needs to work on side dishes and adjust cooking times to prevent dryness, but the BBQ flavor is great and will keep me coming back.

I used to eat here regularly. The founder of this place passed away very unexpectedly from a aneurysm. It is not even comparable now. The ribs went from baby backs to spares and the sides changed. Hence the good reviews then suddenly the bad ones. Sadly it is not worth your time or money.

First visit here in a few months and it was very disappointing. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, idk. Ordered the brisket and rib combo. Ribs were decent, although nowhere near as tender as last time I had them. Brisket wasn’t good at all. Tough rubbery texture as if it wasn’t on the smoker long enough… Fat on it was chewy. If you know brisket, you know the fat should melt in your mouth like butter. The mac-n-cheese was basically dry macaroni noodles sith no cheese at all… Looked like leftovers. Only bright spot was the collards mixed with black Eyed peas. I feel like I just wasted 14 bucks. Doubt I’ll be back.

So terrible! All the reviews I read couldn’t have been more wrong!!! This place is weird. The food is so bad I would never ever eat here again. $ 35 in the garbage. The bbq was not even close to real bbq. It was ice cold and discolored. The mac and cheese was noodles with a processed cheese slice on top that looked and tasted like it was a month old. The sauce for the bbq that was on the tables tasted so gross and most of the bottles had gnats flying around them. Even the ketchup had went bad at some point and it remained on the table. The only edible part of the meal was a roll. This place should be shut down now!!!

A hidden gem for authentic barbecue. Everything made fresh. Home made sides and deserts complement the entrees. Pulled pork that melts in your mouth. Sauces accent the barbecue. Bourbon beans and banana pudding to die for. Affordable, flexible menu.

Hard to disagree w/previous reviewers. BBQ was very lean and tasty. Sauces and sides also excellent. Butter pecan & caramel cake was huge — light and fluffy. A definite«found» gem!

Food is great. Hush puppies were awesome. Some other patrons were singing bible hymns. The service was great. Food came out fast. I love these out of the way mom and pop places.

A true hidden treasure! Worth going out of your way for. Must try the moonshine sauce. The buns were fresh, meat exceptionally tender, atmosphere was quaint & cozy & the staff was friendly & happy.

Great BBQ! Fresh and clean… meaning no surprise parts in there like you might find at other BBQ places. Plenty of sauces to choose from… or just eat it plain… it’s THAT good! Generous portions… and the sides are fabulous. Seating is limited, but usually not an issue as many people come and get go orders. I believe the hours are 3 – 7 Wednesday through Satutday. Go and enjoy.
