Not much better than a good hot dog, and Holmes makes some good dogs. First…the sweet tea was quite good, very tasty, not too bland — not too sweet. I got two hot dogs with chili, cheese, and slaw along with crinkle fries and the aforementioned tea. The fries were freshly cooked, really hot, and quite plentiful. They were salt-free though, but that’s okay as there are shakers on the tables. The chili was flavourful without being overly spiced(in fact, I would have preferred a bit more seasoning in the chili, but that’s me), the cheese was melted nicely, and the slaw was really good… rich, creamy. The hot dog itself might could have had a little more snap. The staff on hand were friendly and helpful. I’ll go back again soon.

Very very busy at lunch time. The nostalgia is nice. The service is good and friendly, but I didn’t enjoy the coleslaw. For me the best part of a chillidog is the slaw and this was just not sweet enough for me. The chilli was okay and the bun was perfect. I liked standing in line talking to the locals. The fries were standard crinckle fries with no salt added. If I return I will try some without the slaw and I think I would like it better.

One star for the friendly, cheerful staff who clearly love their job. One star for the cute atmosphere. No stars for the hotdogs. I ordered hotdogs with mustard and onions and was very disappointed. The dogs must be microwaved or boiled– no flavor or crisp on the skin. Thinking the near perfect Unilocal rating must be grading the chili sauce, I ordered a third dog, all the way. Still not impressed. Wish I was, as the staff is deserving of stars, but the delicious factor just isn’t there.

No hot dogs compare. Best chili and slaw and fries. I get mine with chili mustard and slaw. Can no way go wrong here. Great people and great atmosphere. I been eating here for 30 years.

Great food, great atmosphere, great people. My favorite thing to get is a glass bottle of Diet Cheerwine and three hotdogs made all the way with chili onion mustard and coleslaw. I probably stop by once a week or so since they’re located not even a mile from where I work. It’s always busy but it’s worth it. Only downside is the hours of operation. Would prefer to be able to go there for dinner at times but they close around 4 o’clock or so.

Quintessential Mom & Pop eatery. Good hot dogs at reasonable prices but it’s the atmosphere that makes eating here a delight… true Americana!

This place reminds me of the hotdog places back home in Calfornia. The dogs are good, the service fast, and the place clean. There is memorbilia all over the place and its nice because it brings you back to childhood and a simpler time. my only major complaint is that they are only open weekdays for lunch. When we first moved here a couple of years ago people reccomended the place but it was almost impossible to get there on the weekend between the times its opne… but when we did… we found it was welll worth the planning.

This place makes some good dogs. My favorite thing to get is a regular dog with Chili, Cheese and Onions. They are good 100% beef dogs and the staff is friendly and this place is always hopping! One thing I like about this place is that the Chili they use, is home made chili and not the typical Hormel Chili lots of places use. It gives the hot dog a bit more of an original taste. Downside. The hours are short. They are only open, 10−3pm m-f. They arent open on the weekends. If you get the chance to get a hot dog from here I suggest you do.
