The Tiki

We rented one of the condos through homeaway for a long weekend and really enjoyed it. The condo itself was nice, with a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bath. Each condo has a patio or balcony as well. We checked in at the front desk to get our parking pass. While it was the end of the season, we had no issues with parking at any point. The condo is right on the beach and has a private gate entrance. It’s also right next to Clayton’s, which was a a lot of fun. Overall, we had no complaints and really enjoyed our time here. I’d come back!

It’s not the nicest condo complex but the price can’t be beat. When you compare prices of houses, condos, and hotels in this town, it is no question that houses and condos win out. The Tiki is located right on the beach and north of the busy touristy areas of South Padre Island. It was perfect for me, my partner, and my dog. That’s right, they are pet friendly as well.
The rooms were small and basic but there isn’t any need for extravagance at the beach. The rooms will be sandy and salt covered by the end of your stay anyway. They came with a full kitchen and a nice patio or deck. The outdoor space really was the highlight as you could enjoy the outside while being so close to your room. The beach and pool are within walking distance and both were very nice escapes from the three digit heat. Check-​in was very easy and done mostly through the condo owners themselves and not the front office. It was very easy.
My biggest complaint was with the other guests. They were loud, rude, and seemed to not realize that a vacation from their daily lives does not give them free reign to do whatever they want. I can’t tell you how many times I was splashed while sitting near the pool, how many late hours of techno music I had to put up with, or how many cigarettes I had to smell in a no-​smoking area. It was a little out of control.
Overall, the price was right and the vicinity to the beach couldn’t be beat. I also appreciated the fact that the area was not as busy as more southern parts of the town. Beware of other guests if you stay here but enjoy your holiday at the same time.

I hate to give this place a bad review but I have to be honest. We rented 2 three bedroom condos for a weekend getaway. They seem to have different owners. One was real nice and the other not so much. The landscaping at the place is nice. It’s a quick walk to a nice beach and they have faucets to wash up at before you walk back to your room. The one big problem is its next to Claytons. The biggest beach bar in Texas. So that means you can hear the music all the way till 2am. Some of the music was shaking the glass sliding door. It’s way to loud and there is nothing the hotel can do about it. When I go on vacation I like to rest. So with that being said we will not be going back to the tiki.

Tried to make a reservation here, but Chris the only phone rep, was way to busy to make, take or care about my reservation. I can’t imagine if he would have been able to make the reservation, my stay would have been better.
I would not waste a moment on this spot. I spend a bit of time in South Texas and this place does not want your dollars. Check out any other time share.

this place is clean and serves its purpose, not very spacious and not as close to the water as i was led to believe one of the pools was out of service so there were many people crowding ours

The security was very disrespectful. I often woke up with security peeping into the window.

This place is trying to extract $ 55 from me for nothing! I talked to them a few weeks ago about a potential to stay there for January and February. They checked dates but never sent me anything to confirm it. I did not talk to them about confirming the dates or finalize the potential reservation.
In the meantime, I found a different condo which will better suit my needs for the time period.
Today October 28^th, Vianey called twice and said I have a «confirmed reservation» and because I’m within 45 days of coming, I am to be charged $ 55 for canceling it.
Not only did I NOT have a confirmed reservation, nothing was exchanged via email or telephone, no contract came to me, no money or credit card info was exchanged however she kept saying I have a «confirmed reservation» and have to pay $ 55 dollars to cancel it.
1) no confirmed reservation
2) 60 days out (not 45 that Vianey kept saying)
I might have considered Tiki for next year however obviously I’m not going to. Additionally my family has many friends that winter in SPI and we’ll advise them never to use Tiki as well.
This is incredibly bad customer service!

This is the second year we have stayed in same condo. It is clean and comfortable. Completely stocked with beach stuff –what a bonus. Kitchen has everything you need to eat in –something we did not do. 3^rd floor overlooking beach and pool out back –completely awesome

This is where we are staying for three nights. Walking distance to beach. Pet friendly (only for under 25 lbs). Third floor is best because of high ceiling and better view to see beach.
