Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark & Resort

My wife was changing when the door opened. She exclaimed, «Somebody’s opening the door!» When I went to check the door someone asked with the door now nearly closed, «May we come in?» Then I said no. They immediately closed the door.
We don’t have much of a selection in parks. I hate when they take advantage of this.

My family stayed at the resort for three nights this May. The room was small (only standing space in the bathroom) but not too bad otherwise. I was disappointed that complimentary breakfast was not offered as the rates are high. They did not have all of the attractions open in the water park due to low staffing of lifeguards and closed the resort pool early on us. The restaurants that are part of the resort include The Shrimp Haus and The Seaside Grill which serve mediocre food at high cost to you. You are better off searching the island for better places to eat. I liked the South Padre Island Brewing Company myself just a few miles up the road. During our stay someone pulled the fire alarm at 1am which caused everyone to evacuate the resort. Staff did nothing to assure guests of what happened or that it was safe to reenter the building. We had to call the front desk ourselves just to be sure there was no fire. You have beach access just a short walk from the resort as well as their seaside pool. The park could use some upgrades like a better walk way to the other side of the park. Out of all of the Schlitterbaunhs in Texas, we rank this one 2^nd favorite out of the four. New Braunfels, Tx is the best park no doubt.

Best water park for 17 years in a row my ass! For starters the place is not that pretty, we had to change rooms 3 times because the first room stank of cigarette. Well rooms are not that important since you’re only going to sleep there right? Out of the 4 restaurants only 3 were open, the Sea Side Grill serves lousy food, lousy drinks and the service is crap. The Loblolly Grill is just as good as a service station buffet; ShrimpHaus sucks and the other restaurant was closed. The place looks awesome on the website, but that is just about it.
The waterpark itself is looks old and a bit dirty, some rides were closed due to the off season but they still charge full entrance fee.
I will not come back to this place or recommend it to my friends.

I know that this place is not like the one in New Braunfels and I went in with that mindset. However, the park was a bit subpar. Not that many rides and there are always super long lines for everything. I ended up floating the river most of the time. It is a nice alternative to the beach if you’re getting tired of that. I can’t comment on the resort seeing as I only went to the park.

I have never been to a Schlitterbahn that is open year round. It is off season so their indoor area offered 2 slides (with different names but were the same ride just different colors), a nice, warm Torrent lazy river, a big play area for kids 6 and under and a heated pool outside. You have beach access, can bring in your own picnic linch and parking is free. The price for this is $ 28. The price almost doubles during summer but the entire park is open. The park itself is clean and the workers are helpful. We came because we got free tickets. I am from New Braunfels and have been doing their water park for 10+ years. They are incomparable. If you have little ones then come here off season as it is warm, cozy and the kids will play in the pirate are all day. I have kids 11 and 15 and after 2 hours they were done. We spent the rest of the day enjoying the beautiful beach. Thrill seekers should wait for the summer but then again I am assuming they have awesome rises in the summer.
It wasn’t horrible but not amazing either. I will stick to NB Sbahn but glad to have an experience.

This place sucks. First your only option for a room key is a friggin wristband. This is great I suppose if you plan to never leave the «resort» but I don’t want visit the surroundings with this on, broadcasting I’m from out of town and possibly be traveling with a large sum of cash. I think guest would be fine with being offered a wristband, he’ll I’d even be okay paying a $ 2-​$ 4 fee for one as a convenient option to my key card. But a wristband as you primary is asinine.
It’s off season and I’m aware that some parts of the park are not open due to weather. But the only eatery open is the small one outside, exposed to the weather. Also, no work out room, how in 2015 can you not have a work out room. S#it the Super 8 has a workout room.
The rooms are Motel 6 esque, minimal décor and Schlitterbahn propaganda throughout. Speaking of lacking, my room didn’t have a simple channel guide. The front did happen to have one, it was a stapled copy. They couldn’t even spring for a professional looking laminated one.
Scary part about this is I checked in 1 hr ago, I have a 4 night stay.
Day 2
Staff is pretty apathetic about controlling noise in hallways there was a gaggle of teens on my floor behaving badly, shouting, slamming doors, playing a gawd damn guitar at midnight and no one from the hotel asked them cut it out. I had to do my best «big angry black man» impression on them to get back to sleep.
Day 3
Park is finally open so more restaurants are available, hooray you think… nope. The spot next to the front desk and gift shop was disgusting. Just flies everywhere, i mean you were closed the entire week and you couldn’t clean or get rid of your flies? We passed on dining there.
There happens to be another restaurant «Seaside bar and grille» that was cleaner, but was understaffed. The food was horrible, the eggs tasted rancid, the hash brown was freezer burned, the orange juice was bitter and finally the water had a high levels of potassium chloride, just bad.

The park itself is really small. The lines are really long and the rides are mediocre. It’s dirty and doesn’t look like they keep up with the park. Some areas smell.
I liked that there was beach access from the park. And the drinks were really good. That’s the only good thing about the park.

I should start by saying that my family and I stayed during the fall, on Halloween; to be precise. We checked in at noon. There is a giant, STINKY fish tank in the lobby, but our room was ready right away, so it was great to get out of there quickly! Our room was nice. The bathroom was outrageously small though! You have to wedge yourself between the side of the toilet, and the tub to close the door! It’s so uncomfortable! Also, we DIDN’T have hot water until about 10 pm! The indoor park has next to NOTHING, as far as attractions go. A river, heated pool, kids pool, and 2 water slides. That’s pretty much it for the indoor water park. Our kids went to the Halloween movie, and there were snacks, popcorn, and apple cider. The staff brought up inner tubes for them to sit in. I didn’t like that they had a costume contest that was open to residents of the island, and port Isabel. There were a bunch of locals that hadn’t been ID’d, or registered in any way, walking around the hotel. They had a second movie after the first, and it was absolute CHAOS! No snacks. Kids running everywhere. TRASHING THE ROOM WHILE THE STAFF JUST WATCHED! While they were there, my husband and I visited one of the restaurants onsite. I think it was called, beach grill or something like that. It’s the one closest to the beach. It. Was. HORRIBLE! I ordered the shrimp cocktail. It was frozen, chopped pieces of shrimp, DROWNED in cocktail sauce, served with corn chips. I returned it, cuz I couldn’t eat it. When I went back to my room, I was hungry still. I tried calling Shrimp Haus, and never got an answer. I gave it 3 tries. If you try and order room service, it goes to the horrible restaurant we had just come from, so it was pointless to order. When we checked out the next day, our car was completely infested with ANTS! We parked in front of a fence that had shrubs on the other side. One of those shrubs had a branch extending through the fence, that touched the front of our car. Under that shrub… Was an ANT PILE! We had to take EVERYTHING out of our car, and dust out all of the ants! When I complained to management, I was told they were sorry, and that they’d contact their neighbors about it, because the shrub was on the other side of the fence. The manager did bring out a can of bug spray, and sprayed it on the OUTSIDE of our vehicle, because she didn’t want it to bother our kids. It seemed like we couldn’t catch a break!!! I have to say, the BEST part of our trip, was the beach. You have to RENT lounge chairs to sit on, for $ 9 each one!!! But Schlitterbahn does have great beach access! And that horrible restaurant serves GREAT DRINKS that you can get right by the beach! That’s probably the only good thing at Schlitterbahn.

Last renovation must of been in the 80s! This place is a dump. The strange décor was complemented with dozens of pumpkins and skeletons which made it even more awful.
The bathroom in the rooms had terrible lighting and didn’t even have a soap dish or tissue holder. My room conveniently was missing the phone cord so walking down to the front desk for simple things was annoying.
The staff was friendly but generally incompetent. Took 3 people to approve a late check out and then my key still got turned off.

We recently visited this indoor waterpark only because «red tide» made it impossible to visit the beach. The water park is okay, I guess. The only «adult» rides there are are two water slides. The rest is geared towards children. Having said that the bar is pretty good tho. We met the bartender Bennette. Down to earth guy and lives on the island. He pointed out the best seafood places, aside from the seafood at his house and real insight of those different places.
Having said that, the restrooms near the carousel open outward and allow all the little kids to take a peek at whichever male figure is whizzing at the urinal. I think they should put some kind divider or something so that the little boys and girls do t have to see that. Good pizza there by the way.

My kids and I loved this place so much! We booked a special, buy four full admission tickets and get a room free. We arrived early in the morning around 10 and our room was ready. The room was nice and clean and plenty of room. We quickly put on our bathing suits and headed to the waterpark. My four year old was exactly at the 48 inch height mark so he and I hit the waterslides together. He loved it so much, the slides were so much fun. The next day, we went to the park at 9 o’clock, it opens an hour early for those who stay at the resort, and spent the day in the waterpark. I think the price was worth the stay, two days of the waterpark, however, bring your own food cause it is expensive. If you plan on vacationing to South Padre Island this is definitely an end of trip stop for families!

We came from San Antonio and we’re looking forward to our stay especially my kids. Room was over $ 300. We arrived at 3:30pm although check in was not until 4:00pm just in case our room Might be ready. The line was not bad this time around but we were told to check back at 4:00 due to housekeeping still working on the room. Water park closes at 7:00pm. Since the line was starting to grow we waited about 10 min and got back in line. Arriving up to the counter at exactly 4:00 just to be told the room was still not ready! The line was getting pretty long at this point and front desk stated room would be ready in 10 min but we would need to get back in line. We went back to the end of the line and our family as a whole was just hot and frustrated. We were angry at first but we arrived back to the counter at 5:00pm and at this point were drained and just wanted our money back. I asked for a refund and we were given it and we decided to enjoy the beach instead. Very disappointed with this place.

This place was a fun place to spend an afternoon, but the other Schlitterbahn parks in Texas are better kept up, more fun, and offer more rides. Bored college kids seem to run the park. Didn’t look like anybody wanted to be there.

After checking out I had to put my review down to two stars. They should just put kiosks in. Why hire people if they really don’t want to help. Set up a 11:30 time for someone to help get our stuff down from the room… no one showed. They watched us struggle by the desk with no offer to help. We decided to go to the water park one more time. We got to a ride only to be told we needed new bands. Had to spend 20 min walking across the park to admissions to get them because the resort didn’t tell us we needed new bands each day. However, the day before no one noticed we didn’t have new bands? For over $ 200 per day, I expected all lot more for a «resort.»

The park was pretty fun. The hotel rooms were ok; cleaned poorly. The resort/​hotel is run by high school age people, so run very poorly. We had problems beginning with check in and had even more problems checking out. The day after we checked out I got a bill for over $ 260. We spent ~$ 50 tops. They clearly put charges for other rooms on our card. I’m very annoyed to have to call and sort this out with those idiots again. Be warned of the logic-​free zone that surrounds the front lobby.

My sister was married at the «Sea4Ever» part of the park. Marisa, the venue coordinator was horrible to work with. She did not know how to properly go about planning with us and many, many details were left out. We scheduled THREE meetings with her, none of which she showed up for. We constantly emailed her asking questions and her answers fluctuated, or our emails went unanswered for days until we’d email following up again. The worst part was the random pricing she pulled out of nowhere. She absolutely overcharged us and made up pricing up on the fly. At one point, she even claimed that there was new management so pricing had to change, i. e, increase. This however was only a smidgen of our issues with Schlitterbahn.
The morning of the wedding my sister’s fiancé sent her flowers. They were $ 80 flowers and were never received by my sister. They were apparently sent to her room and were signed for, however they were nowhere to be found. Not a huge issue, but they were less than sympathetic. After the wedding, we called to ask if anything could be done. We were told we’d receive 2 complimentary tickets to Schlitterbahn and that they’d refund the $ 80. It’s been over a month and we have received neither.
During the reception, we had more guests arrive than expected. They took a lifetime to set up extra tables and again, not a huge issue. They began doing a count of people who went through the buffet line to charge us for the extra people. Many people went through the line an extra time, something that was agreed to not be an extra charge, and they continued to count. The next day we went to the pay the extra, and we had an overwhelming bill which I’m sure included people who went through the buffet line twice. It was despicable that they wanted to bill us such a high amount after we had already spent so much with them and provided them an insane amount of revenue. The bride and groom however paid it and moved on.
We were also told that Schlitterbahn would provide a drink menu that would list complimentary drinks for the guests. The menu was not accurate and did not include some drinks that were pre– payed for by the bride & groom. As the night went on, we ran out of some drinks listed on the menu. This caused guests to start paying for their own drinks, and drinks not listed just sat in the back. The bartenders did NOT tell the guests of the incorrect list, and allowed Schlitterbahn to continue making a profit. We considered this to be unethical and by the end of the night, there were leftover drinks that were already paid for by the bride & groom. What a waste of $ 5– 10k+.
To top it off, Marisa, the coordinator, did the groom a «favor,» and picked up his coat and wallet after leaving it in his hotel room the night of the wedding. She told him that she’d send his things to him via mail, and now, a month later, he has received nothing. The groom went by this weekend to see if she maybe had forgot to send it, and she now claims that she did not send it and that the items were STOLEN FROM HER OFFICE. She let him know that they’d be reviewing their video surveillance cameras and that they’d let him know if they find anything.
To conclude, we were less than happy with the experience. The bride and groom naturally had a beautiful wedding night, despite these issues, we however would not recommend booking a wedding or party with Schlitterbahn based on the many issues we had with them. Good luck to those who do and we hope they have new staffing soon.

We had a great time here for 3 nights .
Lazy river and twin slides at the HOTEL. The water park is separate and was so much fun as well but not nearly as big as new braunfuls. We still had a great time, beach access is quick and has a nice walkway out to the beach with water to rinse off. We had a big problem with not having a balcony, especially bc our clothes really never dried. For the price it wasn’t bad, customer service could be better. We had a snappy rude front desk GIRL & most of the lifeguards are teens that look like they’re miserable. But either way we had a good time at the beach and park. Spend most of your day at the beach then the park, bc you could do most of the rides and the river at the park in a couple of hours.

Although many of the rides are essentially the same thing with different turns and pretty repetitive, I found myself having an enjoyable time between the indoor and outdoor sections. If you are on South Padre, it is something you should spend ¾ a day at, just remember to bring flip flops as the ground gets really hot.

What a great time we had at this waterpark! We brought our 2 and 4 year old and we had a blast. Both my kids went on all the rides — they weren’t too scary. We brought lunch and drinks and left them at the picnic table and locked up our valuables in the lockers. My parents came too and mostly hung around in the wading pool. This park has a lot to offer families. It wasn’t very crowded when we went (Tuesday at 10a). Highly recommended.

My lover and I stayed here Wed-​Mon over Memorial Day weekend. The room itself was good (though why the artwork on the walls were just pictures of Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark, I don’t understand. Why advertise more when you already have our money?) though the view of the lazy river’s concrete wasn’t particularly exciting — most of our trip was spent outdoors so oh well! The service was very good, as was the food served at the resorts bar & grill.
Schlitterbahn was right on the beach and also had a shallow heated pool — swimming in the ocean and then floating in the pool was the most relaxing way to clean off the saltwater! Housekeeping did an excellent job each day, and I particularly appreciated the wristband room keys. I didn’t visit the waterpark itself, as the ocean was enough for me.
Until Saturday, we essentially had the resort to ourselves. Then it was PACKED! I really recommend staying here during the off season
