hi-ya! I really enjoy ice cream and who really doesn’t? The place isn’t so incredibly unique, but the atmosphere of Solvang and the tourists make the place really enjoyable to sit down and have waffle cone ice cream. I just wouldn’t have minded if they made better signs that clearly depict where people should enter and exit… because people just flow in and inadvertently cut and/or make it too busy in there when a single file line would do. The flavors are as expected and the prices are high for ice cream, but it’s the experience and the smell that draws you in!

This cute little ice cream parlor has plenty of unique and tasty flavors! We got the cookies and cream, chocolate covered strawberry, and toffee crunch. The toffee crunch was my favorite, it’s a must try! They allow you to sample and their staff is very friendly. We felt very welcomed.

Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by really good, unique and different ice cream. Maybe it’s because I have a freezer full of ice cream. It could be that it’s nothing more than Thrifty ice cream that they scoop here and that’s exactly what I have in my freezer because it was 2 for $ 6 on sale recently. This little shop just isn’t something special that I’d go out of my way for. And for being just Thrifty ice cream it’s a tad overpriced. I mean at least pack the tubs of ice cream in tight enough that I can’t see the name printed all around the packaging. Also it’s cash only. Not that it’s a problem, just a general FYI.

Cute little ice cream shop in the middle of town tended by a teenager.(For some reason I just think that teenagers are the only people that should work behind the counter in ice cream shops.) Solvang Ice Cream has about 20 flavors and a few tables to sit at. My kid absolutely loved the mint chocolate chip, but I felt it was a bit«diety». Tasted too healthy maybe. I didn’t see any sign saying that it was sugar free or made with equal or something, but it tasted that way. Maybe I was just not in an ice cream mood. I’ll be back to try it again, but for now: beware the mint chocolate chip.

Bummer, we went to check this place out on our trip last weekend. They are closed and per the neighbor owner next door, they have been for a while now. Drat!

I have had alot of ice cream, from a variety of places. But, never have I had better, mocha, caramel machiato, or mint’n’chip ice cream any where other than here. Every time I go to Solvang I have to stop here and get my vice that is known as mocha chip to only me. O yes I get the waffle cone! Don’t you worry about that! Anyways. I tell everyone to go there. I take everyone I happen to have with me there. It’s just that good. But later is better. Otherwise your going to deal with a line.

At 8:30PM on a Friday night almost all of downtown Solvang is closed. There a few places here and there, but we were looking for some dessert. Slowly we see people walking with ice cream and went into the hunt. As we were walking through back streets, I saw a light and low and behold we saw Solvang Ice Cream. They have a wide assortment of various flavors like Carmel Macchiato and Kona Chip which we ordered. Both were damn yummy. I was in the mood for fudge so I got a sundae. Little did I know they give you like a pint of ice cream. It took me about 1.5 hours until I could finish the entire thing. Actually some of it melted. This place is great for a late nice ice cream dash.
