Get the Nordic Combo with meatballs and sausage covered in gravy. Finish with a Carlsberg. Mmmm…

My dad really wanted to come to Solvang and taste their food. We stopped by on the way home from SF and came here because it wasn’t crowded. We were helped right away and seated immediately. The food, however, wasn’t as spectacular, given how much my dad wanted to try it. I’m not saying it was bad, but I was hoping for more. Their sausages and meatballs paired well with the red cabbage though! And I really like their potatoes. If I come by another time, I think I’ll just get something else and also try the Danish pancakes.

Very poor quality food and awful service, dirty utencils, no butter or jam just dry toast been served, tea served with only half a cup of warm water and no spoon or sugar came with it. Had to flag our waiter for everything. All I can say is bunch of 15 years old kids running this place, don’t waste your money here eat somewhere else.

We were looking for breakfast on New Years day and we went to the Belgium Waffle around 11:10 and were told we missed breakfast by 10 minutes so we kept walking and made our way to the Greenhouse Café, and they happily were still serving breakfast. I had the California omelette and my wife the breakfast sandwich which we both really enjoyed. The service was outstanding with our server keeping our coffee, which is really good, filled and made sure we started out our first meal of 2016 in grad style.

Cute little place. Nice and friendly staff. Husband and I both ordered the Nordic combo which consisted of Swedish meatballs and Danish sausage with red cabbage and country potatoes. The plates looked appetizing but once we bit into the food, we realized they were flavorless. The meatballs needed salt and pepper or some kind of seasoning, and the sausage could use more spice and herbs to punch out the flavor. The potatoes were tasteless. Only the red cabbage was acceptable on the plate. We felt that $ 14.95 was too expensive for a mediocre dish. Hope they will improve as it is a lovely place with good atmosphere.

Lovely little spot where we like to drop in for a bite when we are an route from SoCal to NorCal. My hubby and I got yummy lobster roll sandwiches and I enjoyed a complimentary Danish beer, thank you to my Unilocal check in. It’s a great spot with decent service in an excellent location. I’m sure we will return!

Great food! I had half a sandwich and half salad with potato salad. Everything tastes so fresh! Good service and a cute patio to sit on.

Great café with delicious food and wonderful service. We were looking for a place with dog friendly seating too and this place fit the bill. My family and I ate lunch here last Sunday. They’re modern Nordic menu was interesting and tasty. My sis had the open-faced herring sandwiches, my bro had the open-faced roast beef and my mom had the open-faced sandwich combo and I had the Nordic combination plate. All items came promptly and we’re delicious. Our waiter was very attentive with the drink refills and that was great since it was pretty hot that afternoon. I totally recommend this is café and would visit it again next time I’m in Solvang.

Very nice place… had a little chat with the owner, he took some time to be friendly and explain a few things about his restaurant… very cool. Good breakfast, pancakes and sandwich… service was attentive… we were in a rush and they accommodated us. Looking forward to coming back!

Three stars. Nothing horrible but nothing«OMGTHISISAMAZING!» I got a cobb salad, my husband got a sandwich, my daughter got a hot dog. It was tasty enough to finish but nothing stood out as memorable other than the nice patio seating and kind wait staff. When in the area again, I MAY try one of the blended drinks to give them another chance:)

hi-ya! The place is run by kids… I mean I don’t think anybody over 25 works there and with that, customer service is less then stellar. The employees aren’t standing around talking about personal things, but what they aren’t doing is asking if things are going well and if there is anything else they can get or do for you. We sat outside and it took forever to get menus – (they ran out), get our order in and I feel like they forgot about everybody seating outside… not to mention the length of time until we finally get our food. However they were quick about getting us our bill, but then you have to pay inside? I was thrown off because we got the bill and then had to go inside to pay it. Our server couldn’t do it for us? And when I went inside I paid the bill and was the only one up there waiting and the same guy that took my credit card asked, is this your’s? after charging the card on the machine. Were there so many people waiting or having card transactions that he didn’t remember me from 2 seconds ago? No. I know tourists come and go, but you still have to try guys! Oh, I had the open face combination – that was actually pretty good and everybody else seemed to enjoy the pastas and pesto sandwiches… hence the only reason why 2 stars is given.

Lovely atmosphere, pleasant staff but sadly the food was lacking. We had a party of 4. Everyone’s meal was extremely bland and was obviously not fresh. Meatballs tasted like frozen food that was popped into the microwave.

When in Solvang, eat pickled herring! That was my thinking when I ordered this Nordic dish. I’d never had it before. The first few bites were really good, because it was so different and new and had such a strong flavor. I got sick of the flavor pretty quickly though, and I gave the rest to my dining companion. Still, it was worth trying just to experience the fun of new flavors. I checked in on Unilocal when I got here, and on the Unilocal app, there’s a promo for a free beer. I was all excited about getting one for the beer lover who was with me, but we were told that it was an old promo and no longer valid. Bummer!

Quaint little café. pretty clean and tidy. We tried the Traditional Danish Breakfast Sandwich and Abelskivers… it was pretty good. The food was good but I wasn’t impressed by the restaurant I guess. Don’t really know why.

Cool place to have a mellow breakfast in the city of Solvang. My group and I came on a Saturday morning around 9:30, and it was not crowded at all. We were seated promptly by the very friendly and welcoming staff and were checked up on often to make sure we had everything. The establishment has a nice airy and open atmosphere with appealing décor, and you can choose to sit either inside or outside(we sat inside). The food itself was amazing. I had the Copenhagen Omelet. The Danish pork sausage and Swedish havarti cheese came together in a perfectly cooked omelet for an awesome combination of flavor. The golden crisp hash browns went with it excellently. Amazing value. Come here for a satisfying breakfast, you won’t be disappointed.

Came here on a Saturday morning and our group of 4 was seated right away. We arrived after 9 and there were probably only other 4 – 5 other customers at that time. Luck was on our side because by 10, it looked like all the outside seats were taken. Simple breakfast menu. I had a decaf with cream to drink. To eat I ordered the House Favorite Combo which included a Danish pancake, French toast and an aebleskiver(first time eating one of these! Also had a Danish pork sausage on the side. The aebleskiver is ball shaped waffle/pancake hybrid. Having the house combo doused with the syrup and jam I had put on it, it was just a little sweet but highly enjoyable. I was glad to have the danish pork sausage on the side because it helped compliment and balance my taste buds. You can’t go wrong with the sausage. I did notice that once in awhile customers would come in just for drinks(coffee) and they would be informed that only regular coffee was served there, which would cause some of them to leave. Service was great as we were checked up on every several minutes. There’s a free beer if you check in on Unilocal(how can you go wrong with free alcohol?) but I didn’t partake in it this time around. Summary: come here early to be seated quick, order your meal, try an ableskiver, enjoy.

Came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning around 9:30. Lots of available indoor and outdoor seating at the time my group of 4 arrived. I ordered the Nordic Lobster omelette with sourdough bread. The lobster was juicy and delicious. I enjoyed watching the lobster juice drip from the omelette on every piece I sliced. The hash browns were crispy and delicious as well. Our waitress was friendly and checked on our table frequently for refills. Overall a pleasant experience and a good breakfast spot to check out before walking around the town.

Wow I am not a «diner» food type of person so was hesitant to come but I was blown away. First with a check-in you get a free Carlsburg beer! I ordered the lobster with havarti and avo omelette, that was so delicious with lots of chunks of lobster. Got a danish sausage that was fantastic with a side of red cabbage, I wanted a second but ran out if stomach space because I also ordered aebleskivers with rasberry jam which can only be compared to a funnel cake fluffy ball dont come here and not order them

First time here… Intended to hit up Paula’s Pancake House but the wait there was 45 min to an hour and we were starving. So, off on a food adventure went we… Happened upon The Greenhouse Café and man oh man, are we glad that we did!!! While the place was busy,(nearly full), there was no wait whatsoever!!! Our only decision was inside or out. As hot as it was, the decision was simple. We were immediately greeted and cordially sat at a booth inside by our hostess, who’s name I unfortunately I don’t remember,(or I’d acknowledge her here). Delicious coffee that really«grabs you by the poo-poo» and service that is simply spectacular. Not only did our hostess check in on us frequently, but so did numerous other servers!!! I got the Nordic Lobster Omelet and I have to say they don’t cheat you on the lobster in at all. You can see all of the lobster chunks bursting out the seams along with the delicatably delicious harvati cheese. Top that bad boy off with some fresh avocado slices and this food monger is in pig heaven!!! My wife,(Felicia B.), and daughter,(Brianna F.), got the Belgium waffles. They commented on how light and airy they were and had me take a bite of one. OMG… Never tasted a better or fluffier waffle in my life. I commented to them that it tasted similar to a sugar«wafer cookie». The son-in-law,(aka, Mike F.), got eggs, hashed browns and a pork sausage side. While he didn’t care too much for the sausage, I couldn’t see it go to waste so my fat a$$ gladly finished it.(and it was damn good to me)… But here is the topper… Since he didn’t care for the sausage, he ordered an additional side of bacon. Now, most everyone that I know,(myself included), LOVES bacon… Bacon, bacon and more bacon. BUT, when he got his order and took that first bite, he immediately said to us all«you gotta try this bacon, it’s unreal». Never one to back down on a food tasting, I wholeheartedly accepted his offer with a willingness akin to Snoop Dogg accepting a doob at a Cypress Hill show. All I can say is DAY-UMM!!! That stuff was so tasty we had to ask our server if she could find out what brand it was AND if they would be willing to share with us what we felt, might be some«if we tell you we’d have to kill you» type information. But,(kudos to her) she both found out AND told us the brand of bacon they use. Needless to say, she was tipped accordingly, lol. Finally… For those of you that may be interested in knowing what brand it was… Well, if I told you I’d have to kill you.

The Greenhouse Café did just fine when we were starving, pressed for time, and Ellen’s Pancake House had a 45 minute wait. The wait here was less than 5 minutes and we got a cute table on the patio. The service is what I would describe as extremely friendly all around. The espresso machine was broken, so for my coffee addicted bf that was a bit of a bust, but they did have regular coffee. There’s some interesting options on the menu. We wanted to try something a bit different, being at a Scandinavian Café and all, so I had the Copenhagen Omelet(havarti cheese and danish pork sausage) and my bf had the house favorite combination(one aebleskiver, one Danish pancake, and one piece of french toast). It was a very generously size omelet with a lot of sausage. The hash browns were drenched in a little too much butter for my liking, but maybe that’s how they do it in Scandinavia. The omelet had a lot of cheese and a lot of sausage; it definitely wasn’t even trying to pretend to be healthy. It wasn’t bad, and I’m glad that I gave it a try, but I probably wouldn’t get it again. A totally okay place to get breakfast, just don’t expect to be blown away.
