I liked it, definetly worth checking out if interested in German food & beers.

Whoa… What happened to this place? New management? The food tastes different, hours are different, service is different. My fiancée and I came here recently after not for some time and left disappointed. Portions seem smaller, food turned bland, waiters aren’t well trained. The love and feeling of authenticity each time I had gone previously is no longer there. We can’t pinpoint much, but we do know it’s different and we don’t like it. Very hard to tell if we’d ever go back. So heartbroken.

Nice to have this place down the street from my sister-in-law’s place. If I ever have a quick craving for a German hot dog, I’ll be back. Good selection of sauces but honestly, I feel like this place is highly overrated and don’t really understand why they have such great reviews. «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» is exactly how I feel about this place. a 3* joint ATMOST. I got the French Dog which was pretty good but the sides were just okay, and my SO’s smoked alligator was super underwhelming and dry. He has quite the appetite and didn’t even attempt to finish his meal. My sister-in-law’s dog really enjoyed it though. :)

I’ve been to four German restaurants so far and have to say, Brats is my favorite, because they have so many mustard options. If I’m gonna scarf down a variety-plate of sausages I need options of spicy mustard and sweet mustard and burn-your-tongue-off mustard and every other mustard I might think of. :) Also love the big pretzels and the sauerkraut. You can sit at the long community table, or one of the small tables, or up at the bar in the back. I like the décor here too. Dark heavy wood covered over with tons of colorful themed decorations.

This WAS my absolute favorite place. Even when it was a little hole in the wall brat stand. I followed this place all the way to the new location and spent many a birthday’s here. I even had over 35 people show up to my birthday and reserved the middle long table — our bill came out to almost $ 600 because my friends can drink and they like to eat good food. The things that made this place special: All the different types of mustard, sweet mustard, spicy Wasabi mustard, the kinds with the seeds, all the varieties of mustard you can try to your hearts desire(this is no longer the case). The brats cooked to perfection. With that perfect snap when you take a bite. The homemade liverwurst. The great customer service. Back in the day they even had chili which you can use as a topping for your brats. Yesterday I was soooo sooo looking forward to coming here. I picked up friends from Burbank airport. They really wanted to go to Red Lion Tavern. I said, «No! We’re going to the BEST place there is for Brats and Beer! Brat Brothers!!» The two friends I picked up are in their 60’s and pretty big. First they tried to seat us in a corner smashed up next to two guests at the left side of the bar. They’re no way we could sit their comfortably. And after being on a plane for several hours I wanted them to have a little more room, keep in mind there were many tables around, but none of them were clean. We finally found a table towards the front. We were pretty hungry when the blonde waitress came by who was super friendly, we ordered our beers and I asked for a Pretzel and some mustard and liverwurst spread(which was the BEST). She said no problem! About 20 min later a different dark haired waitress comes to take our order. My guest asks for Bavarian spread for his sampler and she said sorry we don’t have any. Really? But we just ordered some from the last server(and we were so looking forward to it). Why put it on the menu, or why not warn us when we ordered drinks, by the way, we don’t have any liverwurst today. So we were disappointed, but life goes on. Then I excitedly asked for a bunch of different mustards(like the old Brat Brother’s days). All they gave us was one yellow mustard, Horseradish mustard and beer mustard. Three types of mustard? Really? What happened to Brat Brothers? When my meal finally arrived, it came with one of my favorite sides, Cheese Spatzel. This was not the Brat Bros Spatzel I was used to. This was dry, tasteless, and it wasn’t even warm. What happened? Brat Brothers? Probably the worst part of our entire experience was everyone else was being served food except for us. No one was checking up on us and 40 minutes later the server walks by and I inquire about our food, «How’s the food coming along?» «It’s coming right up,» she says. Keep in mind this was a Saturday night and this place was dead. I was surprised Brat Brothers was dead on a Saturday Night. There was one table of people outside, and two tables inside and a few patrons at the bar. It was my friends’ first experience at this place I kept bragging about and unfortunately it will be their last. I read somewhere on Unilocal that there is new management. Maybe that is why things have gone downhill. I really didn’t want this to happen, but now we are stuck going to Red Lion Tavern, and Wurstküche which I absolutely hate the vibe there(and the food is not as good as what Brat Brothers used to be). I saw two guests who were seated across from us having a hard time flagging down the server for menus. They looked very hungry and disappointed at the slow service. Two words: What happened?
Tell me this is temporary. This was my GOTO place for birthdays and celebrations. Please fix this.

Was seen rather fast. Served at a reasonable amount of time. Food was great. Our waitress, Ms. Caitlin was exceptional! Fast, friendly and VERY patient since we didn’t know what we wanted. Only 4 starts for the lack of waitresses(Only 1! But she’s so fast) and lack of multiple menus. This is a small place but there are more than just four people here.

I have been procrastinating for years. I found this little ad in a magazine and kept it. I finally came down here and ordered the traditional with peppers and a side of grandma’s sauerkraut, with a side of mashed potatoes and tater tots(kinda like hush puppies). I’m in tears for all the lost time I haven’t been here. Really this is a comfort food. It’s delicious and the rotating beers on tap are nothing but delicious and full of flavor. There are many to choose from, it’s not a 200 beer extravaganza but they do have a few and they are delicious.(½ liter and liter beers) They have named seats for the regulars and when u eat they have large wooden table in the middle to share and side tables surrounding the full-on stepped in German experience. The owner is close and was very attentive to my order as well. This is definitely on my return list.

Went today. 4 meals nearly $ 60.00 for lunch. I’m unsure what has happened here(new owner according to other Unilocalers) however it took forever to get our food, some menu items were not available and honestly the food was terrible. Grandmas sour kraut? Grandma needs to stop cooking because it was nasty. The brats were overcooked, tasteless and not even close to edible.(I grew up in Chicago, Chicago peeps would snub this place in one visit). It’s sad because back at their smaller location the food was fantastic however the only thing that’s the same anymore is the name. I won’t know if they correct the food situation because even though I have a free lunch coupon from there(the card punch card) I will never go back.

First timers at this place and we were pleasantly surprised that it doesn’t look like a LA version of a German restaurant and more of a German restaurant. The beer selection was decent, but missing orange blossom. The potato pancake appetizer was small(2) cakes. Go with the sampler to get 4 brats and a pretzel. Good buy for the value. Delicious food nonetheless…

Dieses Restaurant ist ausgezeichnet!(This restaurant is excellent!) We rolled in for a mid-day meal for our first visit, and were very pleasantly surprised! First of all, the atmosphere is wonderfully campy, but in a good way. I felt like I was in a restaurant back in Germany! Loved the big communal table down the middle, although it was nearly empty when we came in, so we had the whole thing to ourselves. The sausages are very good(excellent snap from a natural casing), and there is a wide variety. In fact, such a wide variety that I couldn’t decide, and ordered the brat sampler, which includes four miniature sausages, one German(classic veal and pork bratwurst), one Swiss(white veal sausage), one black forest(smoked pork with ham and bacon!!!), and a Hungarian(an absolutely delicious spicy smoked pork sausage). The the sampler also came with a very good, homemade warm sauerkraut(not overly sour), and a warm pretzel. The sausages were wonderful, although the German and Swiss both definitely benefitted from the mustard on the tables. My wife went for the big cheese brat, a smoked pork sausage infused with swiss cheese, which then melts during the cooking. This one came on a roll, and you have a choice of toppings, for which she chose the curried onions. We also sampled the Bavarian tater tots, home made tater tots with bacon and Swiss cheese. Delicious! To wash it all down, of course, we had to have beer, and Brats Brothers has an impressive selection of authentic German beers, in both half and full liter steins. I had the Spaten Oktoberfest, a perfect compliment to the fabulous sausages. Our waitress Ashlee was terrific, very attentive without being obtrusive, and was absolutely adorable in her little dirndl(I love blondes in dirndls)!

Only 3 stars for me. Got the veggie dog since I’m going semi-meatless and fun that it was more sausage like than hot dog, but lacked flavor. At least there were a variety of sauces to make it more interesting. Husband enjoy his sausage & peppers. Oh and their version of mac & cheese is a recommended side!

LOVE this place! I’ve been a fan since the first time I walked in with my girlfirlend and grabbed a seat at the bar. Its a great place to grab an authentic German beer along with a delicious brats. The brats menu is has so many options, something for everyone and the selection of mustards and sauces makes the experience even better. The location is perfect! Quiet enough to have a conversation, but live enough to feel awake and energetic. Great place to get away on a date! Customer service is stellar! Accommodating to the max… Came in the other day with 20 mins left till closing, my gf was embarrassed to order food being that the kitchen was probably shutting down. The owner kept offering to allow us to order food. We were so hungry and finally accepted his offer… If it wasn’t for the fifth time telling us it was okay to order food, we would have drank our beers and headed out. Instead, we sat back and enjoyed a great Brats Brothers experience.

I wanted to give this place four stars. They have a large variety on the menu. It’s a meat lovers dream come true really. Unfortunately due to a minor case of food poisoning that I had after I ate there I can’t rate them as highly as I’d like. I came here on a Monday night with my BF. My BF is a real meat lover especially sausage. We started the meal with a large pretzel. The pretzel was huge! I did not anticipate on it being so big but it was still pretty good. My BF recommended a few things on the menu to me. I finally decided on some type of French chicken sausage. It came with Apple and cinnamon. It was just ok. I liked my BF’s gator sausage better. We got a chance to try a few of the sides. My favorite being the cheese spätzle. It was pretty yum. I also enjoyed the pickled vegetables and the tater tots but I did not really care for the liver pâté it had a weird aftertaste I would not order it again. We got to try the apple strudel desert it was really good. The combination of apples with rum raisins was just right and it’s homemade too. Probably my favorite part of the meal. All in all it was a pretty OK experience and if it wasn’t for the headache and slight nausea I got later on in the night I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more.

BADFOOD, BADSERVICE, DISHONEST… NEWLYHORRIBLE since the new owner took over! We came in excited to be back at our old favorite! What a letdown! Food was burned and fries were soaked in oil and cold. The server even argued when we told her the food we got was not what we ordered. Finally she checked in with kitchen and they didn’t even have what was on their own menu so they just switched it out and said nothing! Tried to pass it off as another item on the menu and then argued when I knew the difference! So sad! To add insult to injury, the happy hour prices the server gave us when she poured our beers, were not the prices she charged on the bill! When we caught the huge difference, she didn’t even blink– just changed the bill and handed it back. SADTOSAYGOODBYETOOUROLDFAVORITE.

I took too long to come to this place. Finally tried it today only to find out that it’s under new ownership. VERY limited menu. Place looked dingy and dirty. I ordered the Hungarian with peppers — the peppers were charred to the point they were hard. I actual didn’t know why they were when I first saw them. Beer was on the warm side. The whole place just seemed so depressing. Can’t believe this place was actually on triple D.

Mid October, and a Saturday… Anyone would know that a German restaurant would be busy during this time of the year. We walked in with reservations and were seated at a dirty table. The waiter/hostess/bartender/busser/food runner/(maybe the cook too at this point), was slammed. The place quickly filled up and somehow one person was expected to be able to clean and clear tables, take orders, deliver food, refill drinks, help the bar and answer the phone. I can’t blame the guy for being grumpy, I would be too if I had to do the job of 6 people. He had no idea what ingredients went into the food. He told us he would bring us drinks and when they arrived flat without any carbonation he said he would get them later. Later never came. After 45 minutes we simply left. Horrible service that ended up ruining a much anticipated birthday dinner.

This is the ultimate place to have GERMAN brats, GERMAN beer, and the snitchzel fingers which are amazing. I have to say happy hour is the best and the beers I recommend are the Spaten lager and Spaten Octoberfest. Great food and great GERMAN atmosphere

I was expecting more of a really good, quick service brat joint, but was very happily surprised to learn that this is a real deal German restaurant with some amazing dinners, lunches and beers. I’m on hiatus from the alcohol for a few weeks to get back in shape, but the table mini keg is going down next visit. A little parking in the back, but we found street parking. We sat outside and it was a nice, yet chilly June gloom afternoon. I had to climb into my chair since the chairs don’t fit under the tables and there isn’t enough room. Alas, this place just feels very homey… can’t wait to go back. I’ll let my photos do the rest of the talking. Perfect service too!

Ordered Brats Brothers for pick up a few Fridays ago and boy I must say, I think I was either really hungry or they have stepped up their game. Are those new buns!!! With their names on them!!! FANCY! You want to dine in for the«whole experience» thing but ordering to go was ok too. Not my first pick, but in no way was the quality and taste of the food impacted by this decision. Our order was ready to go when I walked in and we really enjoyed it. We had the Frankfurter, Hot Italian and German. Everyone enjoyed their choice. We also shared the Spaeztle with mushroom gravy. Do not get me started on how good this is. So good!!! The tots and giant pretzel were also nice add ons. We’ll surely be back, and hopefully dining in the next time but there was basketball that needed to be watched from home ;) on this past occasion. My boyfriend also looked up their spot on DDD and mentioned it being a really quick piece so I’m not sure that’s really their claim to fame or even necessary to have the huge poster up but their food will speak for itself, so if this helps draw in the crowds — more power to em’. Great beer selection too! I’m pretty sure they have red, blue and gold Chimay which I’m a fan of but couldn’t get them to sell me one to take home with our take out ;) can’t blame a girl for trying.

Brats. Bacon’s tubular brother. It is hard to make that a terrible thing. But, there are ways to blow it: terrible meat, burnt wienies, or dried out, shriveled dogs are too often served. Brats Brothers, however, did none of those things. They serve great, meaty brats with a nice snap. From the spicy, yes it’s spicy, Santa Fe, to the whole farm multi-meat Barnyard(beef, pork, lamb, and turkey), to the kid’s meal dog. I’m not kidding. The kid’s meal dog is amazing. You’d be happy ordering that alone. Kept stealing it for«one last bite.» Bun is large but doesn’t take away from the dog. Bavarian tater tots were an interesting treat. Almost feels like you’re eating fried mashed potato bites. Pretty good. Each table also holds a plethora of mustards. We squeezed out a finger full of many of them. My favorite was the horseradish mustard. Beer was a little disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, the selection of German taps is great. We ordered the Brats Bros. IPA which is lame because we were at a Bratery and should have ordered authentic German beer, but we like hops and it was decent. Also had Spaten Optimator to redeem our first choice. The part that bugs me was each ½ liter beer is 8 bucks. ½ liter sounds big but its a little more than a pint. 32 bucks for 4 beers is impeding my desire to rush back.
