Really good food — I enjoy them quite a lot; my favorite is the russian fries and the pork pelmeni, but pretty much everything I’ve tried has been great. I especially like the sauerkraut pie thing.

This was my first experience of Russian food and it was amazing! My friend who moved from Honolulu to Seattle recommended I try here. I also saw all the great reviews on Unilocal so I was ready for some delicious dumplings. I ordered the chicken dumplings with garlic herb sauce(small/10 pieces) and the Russian fries. The chicken dumpling were really meaty and the garlic herb sauce matched really well with it. I was rolling the dumplings and bread in the sauce. The Russian fries were deep fried potato dumplings topped with sour cream and bacon bits. Both items were excellent and the prices are very reasonable! They have a few tables inside so if you happen to catch the rain, you might just want to sit in there and enjoy your food. Vostok Dumpling House is located on the 2nd level above QFC. If you’re walking, at the corner of E Pike and Broadway, you’ll see a flight of stairs. Go up those stairs and you’ll see the dumpling house. If you’re driving, there’s paid parking on the 2nd level. The parking entrance I used was on Harvard Ave. I paid $ 9.75 for 2 hours of parking. That probably wasn’t the cheapest place to park but since I wasn’t familiar with the area, I just park at the closest place.

My wife and I ended up here by complete accident. We were going to another place that was closed and saw Vostok and thought let’s give it a try. It was the best decision ever! Seriously sooo good we had the potato and cheese dumpling Ivan style and the Russian fries. So hearty and such good flavors. We will definitely be back I can twist to try more.

As others mention Amazon Local had a deal running which we took advantage of. This location is near the QFC in Capital Hill, tucked away so it’s not easy to see from the road. I love pelmeni and making these is a labor of love that I only take on once or twice a year so i was excited to find a place with a new take on the Siberian treat. I came with friends and we tried several flavors, I love the traditional with vinegar, butter and sour cream. I thought the KGB was a bit overpowering and you missed a bit of the flavor of the dumplings themselves… but I am glad they offer options and plan to try more. The dill bread is soft and the dill isn’t too strong. I thought the flavor and texture of the dumplings were on point although the size of the pelmeni is a bit larger than what some pay be used to. The Russian fries were okay. Service is exactly as others shared, slow and underwhelming. Seating is minimal so consider eating outside or taking it to go.

The food is really tasty, but beware when ordering online. I used Eat24 to order for pickup. I arrived one minute after my order was supposed to be ready, but they had not even started making it yet. They did not notify me of the delay on the app. This has happened to me twice now.

I ordered it for delivery, it only took about 30 minutes. However I expected it to take longer so I ate a snack while I waited… big mistake. The food arrived and was really nice sized portions! I ordered the chicken dumplings and the potato and cheddar dumplings. First time ordering but not the last.

Delivery service and customer service lacks! So I placed an order theough Eat24. Estimated time of delivery is 45 – 60 mins. After an hour, I have THEM a call and asked about my order. She told me the delivery guy had a flat tire and was trying to get it fixed. So if I didn’t call, I would’ve never found out. They should’ve called me immeditaley so I knew what was going on. Maybe I could’ve cancelled and ordered through someone else. I understand you can’t help when you get a flat tire, but they really should let people know what’s going on.

I’ll give this place another shot in the future, but for now I’m not impressed. These dumplings have such high ratings but they fell short to my expectations. My friend and I arrived and there was only two people waiting in front of us to get their food. He ordered chicken pelmini with the garlic herb sauce, I ordered the potato cheddar with the Ivan sauce. We it them to go and the gentleman who took our order said it would take ten minutes. That’s fine, we waited for our dumplings and got them to go and ate in the car and we both agreed they were suuuuper greasy and tasted much more of vinegar than any other flavor. I couldn’t even finish all of mine because the vinegar was all I could taste. Dumplings themself weren’t bad but the sauce was so overpowering it wasn’t worth it to finish them. Plus all the oil they were swimming in turned me off and leaked through the tray and spilled quite a bit in the bag. Blah, maybe next time I’ll try them in store and I’ll have a more pleasant experience. Also, I wouldn’t recommend eating them in your car. My car smelled awful for a few days.

this was such a good change of pace for lunch! we tried one of each dumpling and asked for them to put the sauce they thought would be best on each dumpling. We had borscht and dessert… it was all hot good and yes the service is a bit slow but you know what? the food is good it was hot and it did not leave us wanting. .just wish it was not in a place I seldom get to .but if you are downtown and want a good lunch? for sure try it! the dumplings taste like the ones you can buy locally at the Ukrainian mkts that are locally made so maybe there is a connection I did not ask but next time I will .they were good so is the bread and a bonus they were very accommodating to a picky little girl

Finding the restaurant was a little challenging because it is in a corner in the pavilion with several other business. When I found it(walk past Marination Station) I got two different types of dumplings, pelmeni and vareniki, one had the garlic sauce and the other had the KGB. The KGB sauce is creamy, has dill, and is spicy. I really liked it. Your order also comes with a good chunk of bread, soft on the inside and crusty on the outside. They have a very well-priced happy hour so I’ll go back for that. Overall good food and good price. My order did take a while to come out, but it was because they were making it fresh, so I’m not too upset about that.

I’ve come here a couple of times and have really enjoyed the pork dumplings. The first time I came here I got the pork dumplings with dill sauce and this past time I did the pork dumplings with half traditional, half garlic and bacon. I like the traditional sauce and I think that next time I will just get the traditional sauce because it’s nice to have a bit of a tart component to this dish otherwise it feels very heavy. Portions are huge and come with a thick slice of bread. I’ll be back!

Great food at a great price. It takes a while to cook the dumplings, so expect to wait maybe 10 minutes. The flavors were great. We got the potato and cheese and the pork filled one. The portions are huge for the amount you pay. They have different sauces and toppings to customize your dumpling order. Would definitely come again. The dumplings come with bread — it’s just bread, but still a nice touch. All the guys that work there are very nice and helpful. The décor is very… Red and they definitely play up the«communist”/ussr style décor. Ample seating outside when the weather is nice. Limited indoor seating.

Okay, how do I put this… I’ve never been to a dumpling house like this, it’s one of my favorite places to eat in Seattle, and I would recommend anyone to eat here. Seriously, one of the coolest places ever. Great job! Nostalgic concept. Hearty, uplifting grub. KGB Sauce is my favorite. Note: –The menu, which is a gigantic hand written sign, can be a little confusing.

This place specializes in Russian dumplings. We came here with a big group and by 1pm a lot of the dumplings were already gone! So go early. I got the potato dumplings with sour cream. They are very liberal with the sour cream. I thought the dumplings could have used a little more salt. The other dumplings with meat, garlic and bacon were pretty good. They were a lot saltier and had some distinct flavored(mint?). I would recommend those over the potato dumplings.

I ordered the potato and cheddar pierogis(forgot their name for it) and they were awesome The draft beer was cheap too The owner should open one of these joints in the west town neighborhood of Chicago!

Above the QFC, like the Red Army atop a Russian plateau of pure communism is the wonderous Vostok Dumpling House. There’s a fair amount of Soviet propaganda hanging up here, but seeing as Fremont has a Lenin statue, I doubt any Seattlites will find this offensive. If they do, then get a life. I’m a big fan of these dumplings. There are a lot of different combinations you can get. They also have a few of the standard dumpling combos that you can choose from, or just create your own; basically choose the filling and the sauce that comes with it. You get quite a lot for what you are paying and it is really filling as well! The KGB sauce is actually on the«actually» spicy side. The Ivan’s combo can be really greasy, but it works nicely with the bread they give you.(Bread is awesome by the way) Stuff is made fresh and seemingly to order as it took 10 or so minutes for the dumplings to be ready. It is normally pretty busy during lunch hours as well, so prepare to wait. I love coming in and trying something new each time. Don’t forget the fries, they’re also excellent. Eat, damn you!

WOOT~! 4.5 stars! Vostok definitely did NOT disappoint in terms of my expectations after reading all the Unilocal!reviews. First off, if you are not familiar with the area, it can be a little hard to find. As many other reviews had pointed out, it is located upstairs where QFC is. I think to address this concern, the restaurant should place a sign downstairs that lead people up. That’s just my opinion. Vostok is not really a sit down restaurant. It is small with some bar areas and about 3 tables that seat about 6 – 8 people per table. So, it is almost a grab and go place. I love that you can really customize your pel’minis. The price point is a bit high, but it gets you quite full, so it isn’t terrible. The dumplings were nothing short of AMAZING! Light, salty, and super tasty. When it comes out, you think to yourself… that’s it? I paid $ 11 for tiny little dumplings? Behold, these dumplings are no joke, they will FILLYOURBELLY up! The sauce(depending on which one you get) can be a bit rich. So if I were to eat this for lunch, I personally would not get larger than the half order. Overall, Vostok is a solid place in Capitol Hill, but BEWARE, the burps you have after this meal are SUPER smelly! Bring gum and I would actually avoid going out altogether after if I ate here again! Other than that, I can’t wait to go back!

The dumplings are superb! About the size of an average lemon each, a half order(10 dumplings) is enough to satisfy a small kitten. But if your appetite is closer to that of a Siberian tiger, I recommend you commit to a full order(20 dumplings), or get two half orders. Their most popular items – and deservedly so – are the Ivan(garlic, onion, and bacon), and the Rocky IV(same, except substitute garlic with their hot sauce, with a secret recipe developed by top intelligentsia and still protected by the KGB). Rocky IV is my favorite – if only because I don’t like to feel like I’m surrounded by Vampyrs running away from a toxic garlic cloud on my breath. Anyway, remember Komrad, unless you’re working on a 6-pack to show off in your next summer vacation on the Baltic, 20 dumplings. Also, enjoy the thick loaf of delicious, hearty bread – just like your babushka used to make! Whichever sauce you choose, you need to pick a base dumpling: chicken, pork or potato. My favorite choice is, of course, pork dumplings. The only reason I don’t give this place 5 stars is cuz the service is slow. Like, full on Friday afternoon soviet bureaucrat right after guzzling a liter of vodka. On a typical visit, expect to wait around 25 minutes. As a small consolation, there’s space to smoke outside, if you’re longing for the real Moscow feel: p Happy dining komrad!
