Amazingly slow service. Hire some staff. When I was there the bartender was running the whole show all alone. Needless to say service was all but non existent. Edit: RIP

Gone — but not forgotten. The Hurricane Café is permanently closed now. It had outlived its time, and the property is being redeveloped probably to another highrise combo building, another in the expanding residence area of downtown Seattle. Farewell old friend! I hope someone saved some of the interior furniture for sentimental sake.

What an absolute sh! t hole. I can’t believe anybody would rate this place above 1 star. The floors were filthy and the Men’s room smelled so, so foul. The loveliest touch there was the small ziploc in the urinal that probably housed some dipshits last bump. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a side of hash browns, thinking it’d be a safe bet. Boy, was I wrong. My patty was completely charred and smokey tasting. The cheese had a stronger resemblance to melted legos than. well, cheese. Disappointingly, I’m fairly certain that a melted lego would have been more appetizing. The fries looked about as good as I felt about eating at The Hurricane Café and for a brief moment I felt very sad for them. It’s not very often that you can have a bad experience with french fries but if there’s one thing I quickly realized about this place it’s that they excel in shitting on your dining experience(and possibly in your food, too.) And this brings me to the last dish of my review, the hash browns. I wish I had a chance to contribute to naming some of these dishes. Wouldn’t that be fun? I’d have come up with a great one for the hash browns. how about. «Potato Slop»? I’m sure the chef whipped up my batch after downing half a bottle of whiskey and crying in front of a mirror. Bland, sad, and poorly executed dish. ’nuff said. Today is The Hurricane Café’s last day open. Amazon bought their location and will be using the land to erect yet another building in Seattle. Thank god for Amazon. Consider yourself lucky if you’ve never had the displeasure of visiting this atrocious dive.

The Hurricane is everything you want in a greasy spoon: red vinyl, a little dark, divey, good music playing, and the food is simple and well crafted diner fare. Beats the shit out of something like Denny’s, so if you want a great breakfast, go here before it’s gone. I gather the whole block is slated for gentrification. Yay! More Starbucks! The corned beef hash was made in house, and delicious. A touch on the small side, portion wise, and my poached eggs were in the bath a minute too long. The hash browns(endless if you want that) were what hash browns should be: shredded potatoes, not chunks, cooked flat on a hot griddle. Wonderful crispness, I absolutely approve. My friends Joe’s Special was a HUGE scramble with ground beef, cheese, eggs and other assorted treats, looked great. He devoured it all. That, and a couple pints made for a great mid afternoon breakfast. I want to try the burger before it, too, is a memory. Next time I’m up from PDX.

This is the little dive bar downtown Seattle that stays open 24hrs a day. Cool place, has a couple games u can play when u first walk in plus a separate bar area with a pool table and tv… the bartender is a cool dude that’ll make you a nice strong drink but I go for the food lol. Decent food, great prices, cool atmosphere, free parking. I usually get breakfast when I’m there like a Belgian waffle or chicken fried steak. Their hashbrowns are always perfect and buttery. The hot cocoa is good too. The go-to place for when you’re drunk and hungry on a Friday night and need some greasy nourishment.

I feel like you might have to be in just the right mood to go to this café. We woke up hungry and a little hungover so it fit the bill. Huge portions for breakfast(and good!) along with a bloody mary got us going for our daily exploring. We’d spent the first couple of breakfasts at some nice brunch spots but this day this is exactly what we needed. We were only one of maybe 3 other tables in the restaurant so service was quick and bordered on friendly, crazy collection of Mr. Potato Heads line the place haha

A 24⁄7 Dive diner with okay food and alcohol! There’s definitely times when that is the kind of place to be… If you’re sober enough you might notice the strange decorations and a weird humming noise but if you’re not, you’ll get exactly what you need!

This place is THE place for comfort food. I have brought a dozen people here all to get their giant delicious chicken strips. Seriously the Chicken Strips are giant and are such good value. My roommate orders chicken strips with waffle fries and honey mustard so much after introducing him that I’m pretty sure the night staff all know who he is. Open 24 hrs and located downtown it is a little bit of heaven amongst the ever growing giant towers. Shame that it will be closing soon :(

Do you want to dine at a divey café that belongs in a B-movie with good customer service and is open at midnight? You found your place. My boyfriend took me here late, telling me it is a Seattle icon; I’d never heard of it(which doesn’t mean anything, there is A LOT to Seattle I still don’t know about after living here for 15+ years). When I saw the paint peeling off the cement block exterior as we parked next to a seedy apartment building, I didn’t have high expectations. We were greeted warmly by the hostess who sat us immediately and offered to get drinks for us. Shortly thereafter the waitress appeared, took our order, and said she believed us instead of just looking at my phone for the Unilocal 10% discount for checking in. While waiting for our food, I was wondering what the story was behind the largest line up of Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads I’ve ever seen. I could see the massive fingerprint stains on the pastry bin from where we sat. Our booth had been stabbed and re-stabbed again by someone’s knife, and the duct tape was having a hard time keeping it together. The floor appeared to not have been sloshed by a mop in years, nor the walls cleaned in decades. The large Christmas lights that line the top of the walls slowly changed from blue to pink, and my eyes traveled over to the grill, with the hot pink neon light shining on the epitome of chefs one could imagine flipping burgers and pancakes in such a joint. The CD jukebox had a sign posted«Best jukebox ever!» and flashed random rock trivia in sequence with the neon lime green shining out its sides. The food showed up in about 5 minutes. My BF got a vegan burger and fries. His fries were real, not frozen, and they tasted great. He reported his vegan burger was excellent and all of the ingredients were fresh. I had ordered a Belgian waffle with sausage and eggs. The food wasn’t remarkable, but it was made well and served hot. I noticed all kinds of people there: corporates having a business meeting, a guy writing furiously, college kids hanging out, a biker getting a to go order, a couple that looked like they had just walked off a porn movie set, and guys out for a drink. My BF had to remind the waitress about the Unilocal discount when the check came, but she was totally cool about it. Afterwards, he wanted to play pinball. They have a couple pinball machines, a Guitar Hero arcade game and a Duck Dynasty game. My pinball game was short lived. However, playing Tron pinball with graffiti on the wall at this hole-in-the-wall seemed like something Kurt Cobain would have done. When we were leaving, I noticed they also have a bar in a separate entrance. My BF and I agreed that The Hurricane would be the perfect situation for a movie, and we also agreed that it MUST have already been in a movie. The parking is free, and they have a private lot. There’s a small paid lot next door as well. You don’t come here for the food, which is on par with eating at Denny’s. You come here to have an experience. Food: 2 Service: 4 Ambiance: 5 Parking: 4

Service was good considering from the looks of the place. But very nice people and food was good. Especially the bottomless has browns. Only thing is toast was a little burnt… but cut off the crust and we are good to go. It looks like it an all guys ran restaurant so it’s nice without the female drama.

With relatives in town this week I don’t have a whole lot of time to devote myself to the usual six reviews per week. But I have been meaning to write a review for The Hurricane for quite sometime, it just got swept under the carpet with reviews that distracted me. I got a real kick in the pants this week when I saw that The Hurricane was going to close. It has long been a Seattle icon which I only managed to enjoy once. What is there not to like with a 24⁄7 diner that serves good food? The one time I was here I had a wonderful hamburger and fries that were made perfectly. The portions were generous and some of my group got too full and had to take our food home. Unilocal also offers a great deal here if you check in and let the wait person know because you get a pretty nice discount off your entire order! Steve and I are still too new here in the area and The Hurricane was one of those places we kept in mind for late night dining, a gap that was filled in one of our dining categories but now we will have to find another one. But I may have said an injustice because many locals are upset with it’s closure which tells me the place is irreplaceable.

Had a cheap breakfast and endless coffee. It was awesome food and near our hotel. Not so clean. Bum taking a bath in the restroom and drug his blanket on the floor by our table as he exited. It is a place to see and experience however. I enjoyed the experience.

4 Stars alone for being open 24 Hours. The food is digestable, some days Better than that. Of Course, why come here ?? It’s just a great place to hang with your friends after a night out or a day out and talk for a bit. I’m sure there are other places in Seattle, I just haven’t explored enough yet. This one has a certain retro Seattle feel to it… I’ve heard also that Amazon bought up more property so it’s days may be numbered. I kind of wish I could have experienced this place when it was«The Doghouse», The old pics look pretty cool. In any event, I’m proud to say that i’ve made it here a few times with my Sons and even once with my Best Friend. A early/late greasy breakfast and some good conversation was had by all. It’s all about making some cool memories… Hurricane Café, Thanks for just being there…

The Hurricane is a Seattle landmark. It’s been around forever. It isn’t trying to be a cool hang out, foodie favorite, or tourist destination. it’s an old-school diner, and as such they are nailing it! The outside of the building looks run down and rapey, the inside kind of does too. but that’s what keeps all the tourists out and part of the charm. It’s a come as you are joint. Have a hangover? Roll out of bed hungry and don’t want to take a shower? need a weekend morning breakfast spot without a wait? The hurricane has you covered! Rumor has it due to the land being bought out from underneath them, that the hurricane won’t be around in 2015, so check this place out while you still can.

I’ve been to my share of greasy spoons, all around the country, in all forms… but, I gotta tell ya, this is the greasiest of the greasy. And that’s not a bad thing — at all. From what I can tell — Hurricane draws a couple of different crowds — one is the urban folks who happen to live/work/visit nearby and need a place for some greasy chow. The other is the OMGWHATDIDIHAVETODRINK crowd. On this particular visit, I was in the front crowd, so that’s how I’m viewing the place. The menu is pretty typical and pretty standard diner grub — nothing that leaps out and makes you go, «WOW, where’d they come up with that» — but at the same time — they don’t NEED anything like that. They revel in being a greasy spoon, and that’s what you get. Friend and I ordered the breakfast bagels(at 6pm) — the bagels were soft, the eggs were perfectly cooked, and the fries(instead of the hashbrowns, as per a Unilocal suggestion) were pretty good. They have a full bar, and my friend’s vodka/cran was more like VODKA/cran. That ain’t a bad thing either. So… why 3 stars? Service was a little spotty. We waited about 15 minutes for drinks and whatnot — once our drink and food orders were in, those came out pretty quickly, but our service after the sale(if you will) lacked. I think the most telling thing was that our server asked if I wanted a soda refill as he took the credit card slip — but never actually brought it back. For a first visit, and a first Unilocal review — that’s not enough to sink the place, at all… but it is something to make a note of. I’ll definitely be back in to give this place a second try.

We went to Hurricanes on a Sunday morning. There was no line to begin but by the time we left a line started forming. The place is a bit grungy but that adds to the appeal as they have vintage pin ball machines and a cool collection of different mr. potato heads. I think we counted around 30. The menu is good, there are lots of options. Unilocal is awesome, there is a 10% off your entire bill coupon that we used just by checking in. You have 4 hours to use it. I ordered a lighter side option and my partner ordered joes special. Both really really tasty. My lighter side option had 1 egg, 2 slice bacon, 1slice bread and hash brown. Everything was very tasty and really good but the price for my meal $ 8.95 didn’t cut it for me. The special was $ 9.95, $ 1 more and had so much more food. So aside from pricing, the food is definitely tasty and geek cool! :)

I have seen this place in the daylight… …and you know what? It wasn’t skerry at all. Sure, it took almost 21 years to see it in daylight, but now I can check off one more thing off of my bucket list… I’ve been told I need to set my life goals a little higher. HH includes things like ½ order of nachos, waffle fries etc. for about $ 5. Those prices may seem steep in comparison to the HH $ 2PBR(gack.) Me? I happily threw down more than $ 2 for a cold glass of Manny’s. I’ve never been delighted by the food, but more RELIEVED by the food. It’s like eating nothing but insect legs for a month, then suddenly being offered a hamburger. If I’m eating it, I really needed it and thus enjoyed it! That’s not to say the food is bad; it’s good ol’ comfort/usual bar food. I am just trying to illustrate the sensation you get when your food lands at your table at whatever-hour-it-is/whatever-condition-you’re-in, and you go, «Thank GAWD!» I guess the service was what does it for me. They’re always cool and chill, and that weird aloof service that is despicably trendy right now seems to have bypassed Hurricane. They even have their own parking lot. Even Beth’s Café can’t boast that. Doh. Almost forgot! You can still do the Risky Business slide on the floor in the main dining area haha Hurricane, you are all right ;)

I had been craving a greasy spoon breakfast for a few weeks before the boy brought me here one gray Saturday morning when 5 Point was too packed to even enter. Immediately upon entering I felt as if I just entered a time machine taking us back to 1992. In the waiting area, concert and art posters are slapped to the wall. The no-smoking ban may have been put into effect almost 10 years ago but the scent still lingers in the air. The furniture is outdated, discolored and tacky and the all-male staff wore simple black t-shirts and jeans with bags under their caffeinated eyes. They weren’t overly rude but they weren’t overly friendly. Somehow, this all worked for me. It gave me a sense that this bright green building, wedged between countless uninspired gray buildings just blending into the backdrop of Seattle, is a relic from the bygone grunge era — despite having absolutely no idea when it was actually established. As for the food? It is what it is(As Joshua B. mentioned). I didn’t order anything especially fancy(patty sausage and eggs) but it did satisfy my greasy spoon craving. All I really wanted was a decent slice of sourdough toast, and I think I got that. I’m actually kind of bummed I hadn’t been here sooner knowing it’s open 24-hours. I think between this and Beth’s, I would have rather been here to satisfy my post-drinking breakfast food needs. Oh, and just a note: we got 10% off our bill for checking in via Unilocal
