Foods… not the best… price is great. service… the last two time i went i think the server forgot about us, and after a half hour waiting we flagged down another employee. the sake price is good at least, if they remember it. half the time its great! ive gone multiple times and it seems when i go alone i get one of there two girls who are fantastic and sit on the left. but if i come with anyone, and sit in a booth or the right side, im not getting service except from the chefs.

It was not good but it was edible… Not very fresh and tastes like something you would grab from the cooler at a 7⁄11. The real terrible part was the service… I asked for a fresh roll because what I wanted on the conveyor belt had been sitting for a while. Instead of getting a fresh roll made the waiter grabbed it off the belt. COMPLETELYDEFEATSTHEPURPOSEOFMEASKINGFOR A FRESHROLL. Cummmmon dude. Not coming back

We walked in for dinner and had a 10 – 15 minute wait on Sunday night. This was understandable, because a party of 12 had just walked in before us. While we were waiting we sat at the bar, hoping to get a drink. 4 servers walked by us and didn’t ask. Then as one server went to fill up water cups he grabbed for cups with his fingers. As a person who has worked in the service industry I know you get busy, but that is so disgusting and against health code violations. After standing there watching him fill Up 12 cups that had all touched the waiters fingertips we had to leave. Never going back.

Short background: my cousins and I were visiting from Hawaii and were craving sushi as we were nearing the end of our trip(we love sushi in Hawaii so we wanted to try Seattle sushi). VISITDATE: 12/29/2015 We came in about an hour before closing and were seated promptly. The girl who was serving us quickly gave us our water and asked if we wanted something else to drink. She didn’t even wait that long before she cut us off and said«I’ll be back to take your order.» She then went to help other customers and I noticed she seemed to be rushing through her tables. She came back and asked what we wanted to drink so we ordered our drinks. We also wanted to start ordering our food(in case last call was coming up), but again, before we could order, she walked away to grab our drinks. She seated another party ANDAGAIN she seemed to be rushing. When we finally ordered, you could tell she was trying to rush us again, which was seen in her body language and tone of voice. We didn’t know some of the stuff we wanted was on the belt so whenever we ordered something, all she mentioned was«it’s on the belt, but I can get it for you.» By the third time, she just sighed and said«ok, I’ll get that for you.» I’m not sure if that’s just how she was or if this specific restaurant just uses food on the conveyor belt first(in Hawaii, when we order something that’s already on the belt, they still make a fresh plate; not sure if this restaurant did that though). Anyway, at this point, I was already irritated. So we canceled our order and left. I understand it was near closing and this worker was overwhelmed but the fact that her irritation and/or stress was showing in her non-verbal cues and tone turned me away from the experience.

I hate this place the quality of the sushi is sub par and three times in a row I have found something in my food the first two times it was plastic and today it was metal I can’t believe this I won’t return and will be calling the health department in the morning

This place is five stars for a sushi boat style place. My husband and I come here about every two weeks and for $ 30-$ 40 we can eat a bunch of different things. They will make you anything you request too so just ask. My faves are the summer roll, tiger roll, volcano, salmon poke and yellowtail toro nigiri. Go during busy times so everything is freshest and there’s also the most variety available.

Better than sushi land. They put signs of what sushi dish it is unlike sushi land 4, and says if it includes raw fish. Food: decent dishes but pricier because of the revolving belt and atmosphere. I rather go to a sushi restaurant and order 2 full entrees for the same price than get 5 lower quality fish for $ 25. Had nigiri, California rolls, spicy tuna, all the generic rolls they had. Nothing spectacular other than the sushi comes to you on a sushi belt. Overall, I wouldn’t come back because you pay for the service(lack of service) that they use to deliver the fish to you. It’s cool to go if you’ve never been and it’s «interactive» but if you want cheap quality sushi this is the place to go.

«Sushi» Maru lacks sushi variants. Although there variety of rolls but mostly consist of crab meat base such as cali roll and cali roll variant, which i do not like. Seared black pepper tuna/salmon is way too peppery… i had a maguro which cost $ 3.59 per dish is not fresh and very dry. Only good part is the salmon, which doesnt say much. Ambiance is club-like with sushi belt all around, not my type but i guess it’s cool. No plate for ginger, no coke, no sprite… well i guess they were busy yesterday? My server was attentive though so 3stars for that. But the quality of fish is questionable, roll variants are limited. Summary: Good for fast eats. Friendly and attentive servers. Not good for Sushi enthusiast. Variety of rolls but limited to cali roll variants(crab meat base). Definitely not a dedicated Sushi restaurant.

After having this place recommended to me by a family friend, I decided to try it. However, the high praise was met with bad service and mediocre food. When you enter, its very dark and noisy, but we(party of 7, 3 of which were young children) were seated quickly. We were not offered drinks for about 15 minutes and were continuously ignored by the staff. When we finally got the attention of the waitress, she was extremely rude. After we received our drinks, she did not check on us again. Then she had the audacity to add in a 20% tip to the total. The food was not the worst, but not the best. Also, half the restaurant was off limits, having appeared to be unused for some time.(They also do not have changing tables in the restroom.) After this experience, I definitely will not be back.

Sushi Maru: high prices for mediocre conveyor belt sushi. It’s disappointing how long they will let some of the sushi go around on the belt before realizing that it is no longer edible. California rolls at room temperature are just not tasty. You get a lot more for your money when you order directly from the chef, having it prepared fresh. They are understaffed, so service is hard to get most of the time. It’s difficult to track someone down to place an order or ask for your check. Cool thing they offer here is 50% off all belt items 1 hour before closing, to-go only. This is a good way to try new items without spending a fortune.

If it weren’t for my most recent experience, I may have given this review a 4 star. We’ve been going to this place for a while, their sushi quality is probably just below the bar for average, which is fine I suppose. What caught my eye the most was the 50% sushi price when they’re near closing hours. The price for the quality was obviously above the bar and I was super stoked, even though some of the stuff on the belt had been sittin’. I’m not unreasonable and I knew sometimes I’d be disappointed, but usually delighted at the quality. Until my most recent visit. I always get a to-go box handed to me when we sit for sushi at the belt. This time, however, there was a german cockroach crawling around on the to-go box. I’m from Arizona, and I know pest problems happen, and had it been your average disgusting sewer dwelling cruiser I would’ve probably been less grossed out. But the german ones are the ones that get to me/worry me, because those are the infesty-kind. I can’t imagine where it came from, and I can only hope it wasn’t a problem with the restaurant, and maybe one crawled in from an unknown source. I haven’t gone back, as I can’t stop seeing that little bastard every time I think of eating there. I’m sure I will get over it soon, and hope that they nipped the problem in the bud, as I did bring it to their attention.

Not too bad of a place for kaiten sushi. I find it a little overpriced for what it is, though, in my opinion. One of my favorite dishes here is the salmon poke salad. I also like their takoyaki! My favorite thing about this location is the service. Every time I’ve been here the service has been on point and someone always checks on you and refills your water and/or tea.

I frequent Sushi Maru because it’s close to where I live. It’s also located at Northgate Mall and has a conveyor belt so it gets a convenience score of 10. Like my rating suggests, everything about Sushi Maru is «meh.» The service is hit and miss, mostly a miss. Most of the time, our server takes forever and we have to flag him/her down. Many of the items on the belt are a variation of a California roll. You can slap some seared salmon on it, drench it with sriracha mayo, but if it looks and walks like a duck… I recommend ordering off the menu unless you really love your California rolls. They make a pretty decent bowl of tempura shrimp udon. You can also do shabu shabu if sushi is not your thing. Their b-roll and volcano rolls are standouts. Prices were recently increased. An order of mediocre ikura(2 pieces) will set you back $ 5. The specialty rolls will run you $ 4 to $ 4.50. Like a hooker on Aurora Ave, after 8:30pm, everything on the belt can go home with you for 50% off. Moral of the story: Sushi Maru will continue to get my business for another two weeks until I bid adieu and move to greener pastures. It’s not a place I would go out of my way for sushi.

A fancier version of Sushiland! They’ve got plenty of rolls that were aesthetically pleasing and I love how there are signs with the names and contents so you don’t have to guess what you’re eating. The sushi in general though, was just alright. But I did really like the potstickers! Maybe I got super lucky but mine were still warm and crunchy :)

Short sweet and to the point. WAY better and cheaper than Blue C Sushi, and WAY better than sushi land(those places should be ashamed to sell sushi) Great quality for this style of eatery(kaiten/conveyor belt). The prices are fair and the servers are awesome! Very modern and clean look. THEYPLAYGOODMUSIC: Wale, Chris Brown, Drake, Jay-Z. NO complaints besides some of their more«american» dishes such as the orange chicken or deep fried shrimp/pot stickers. Not a fan, but the sushi is great. Would recommend.

I’ve walked past Sushi Maru quite a few times and always ended up going to Café Phở. While Café Phở is a standby, I decided to finally try Sushi Maru for lunch today despite the mixed Unilocal reviews. I was surprised at how large and modern-looking the restaurant is inside. I hadn’t been to a kaiten/conveyor belt sushi place in a while. It’s pretty fun to see what’s coming down the belt and grab items off of it. Some people here have complained about the service but when we went it was fine — we were greeted, promptly seated, and when my partner ordered miso soup it was delivered quickly. I wasn’t expecting too much from the sushi itself. Since we arrived at around 1:00(an hour after they opened for lunch) I wasn’t too worried that any of the sushi was out for too long, but some of it felt warm. As other reviewers have noted, only the actual sushi plates were covered — many of them, like the edamame and sesame balls, were not. It would have been so easy for other patrons to touch or sneeze on the food. I wasn’t too bothered by it, but for some people it might be a concern. A lot of the rolls here are so huge and stuffed full of filling(often«crab» salad) that they’re difficult to eat. I think the sushi at the University Village QFC is better, overall, though there was a greater variety here. I actually really liked the inari and had two plates of it. It had bits of seaweed(furikake?) in the rice, which I liked, though I saw that another reviewer didn’t like that; I don’t think it’s common. The miso soup was good. I had the ika(squid) which was a little bit on the rubbery side. I saw three ika plates there, I took one, and saw the other two continuing to go around and around the rest of the time I was there… guess nobody else likes it but me: P While I didn’t try it, they had a few Hawaiian foods here like poke and spam-and-egg musubi. The vibe in here was fairly trendy or lounge-ish, which is not what I was expecting from a restaurant at the mall! Unfortunately, there was an infant SCREAMING for most of the time we were there, which gave me a bit of a headache. The meal ended up costing about $ 15 with tip, which is about $ 5 more than I usually spend at Café Phở, so I think I’ll probably continue going to Café Phở when I’m here.

Don’t think I’m crazy, but I don’t like seafood. You’re probably wondering why I would go to a sushi restaurant… Well, I went because I was invited there, and it was certainly not my first time going to sushi(5th time?) At any rate, Maru definitely has enough other options that I was able to eat and enjoy time with my friends. Food was good, as expected for a conveyor belt sushi restaurant.(And actually I don’t mean that in a negative way.) The food was good, and there was a good selection of non-seafood items that I was satisfied when I left. I have to say that I really like the décor and ambiance of the restaurant. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. I did notice that the prices here were somewhat higher than other sushi restaurants I had been to. I guess that’s because of the mall location, but not a deal-breaker.

«Conveyor belt sushi wrapped in a lounge/bar décor, served with a lychee martini and an optional hotpot.» Sushi Maru is a slightly varied conveyor belt sushi restaurant that added the option of cocktails and shabu-shabu(Japanese style hotpot). The overall seating arrangement and layout is perfect for large groups. Heating elements are even available on both counter and table seatings in case patrons decide on shabu-shabu. The sushi selections on the belt are somewhat limited and I recommend asking your server for special orders(ie: seared salmon, sashimi, tuna poke). I found the service to be excellent and drink refills and follow-ups were frequent. I felt the sushi quality was mid-range to above average and portion size on special orders were larger. The overall architectural design mimics a lounge/bar and the techno music makes the whole experience feel like a club on a weekday night. The cocktails are decent and the happy hour price period is very convenient if you are searching for an early dinner or quick bite. The whole motif and music makes me feel unsettled and rushed to eat. This would not be my first pick for sushi however it did the job of satisfying my cravings.

I usually love coming here for a quick sushi fix, but today’s takeout quality was a bit disappointing. First off, the chefs need to learn the basics of sushi-making, I feel like an armature could have done what they do. The Gunkan should NOT have it’s toppings fall out as you pick a piece up. The seafood sheet should stick out a bit above the rice to hold the toppings. Instead, I ended up picking up most of the ikura eggs with my fingers. Secondly, the Uni quality seems a bit off. Idk of its the freshness or the kind they used today, but it was very dark and brown, not the usual bright yellow/orange color. Good thing I don’t have a sensitive stomach! But just to be fair, the customer service is on point, very friendly, helpful and inviting. The servers and hosts do a great job, I wish the kitchen staff were more skilled/trained though.
