We were enchanted by Single Shot from the moment we walked in the door. We felt at home immediately thanks the the attention placed on the details, large and small. Who can pass up charming pink peonies, a gorgeous bar with bottles lined up like soldiers, lovely light fixtures, welcoming staff, and a vibe both classy and relaxed? We were not disappointed. The three of us ordered a variety of small and medium plates and shared. Every dish was perfect, and beautifully presented. The lemongrass broth that the clams were swimming in — to die for! We literally ate it with a spoon. To present food that is gorgeous without being fussy is no small feat, and it was perfectly executed here. Add to all of this creative cocktails served in vintage bar-ware, and impeccable service. Yep, we were pretty much transported. If this spot was in our home town of Portland, we would be regulars. As it is, Single Shot will be one of the places we visit as often as we can. Thanks goodness we have family in Seattle!

Absolutely charming spot. Located on a leafy street, it has an almost European vibe. The food is some of the best in town. The owner is a friendly, hands-on guy, greeting you up front, and even bringing your food to the table. With so many new places(most just marginal) this is a welcome addition.

Let’s start with what was good because I like to be positive. 1. SERVICE The service was top notch. We had a suitcase with us which the maitre D very smoothly took from us and placed in the back room. Service throughout the night was great — frequent attention to drinks and making sure the food was good. 2. AMBIENCE Great ambience — contemporary and classy décor.(If not a bit noisy because of how small the restaurant is) 3. FOOD I’ll attach pictures of the food. But all in all I would say the food was very unimpressive compared to how impressive the rest of the dining experience was. We shared these dishes between 4 people so we pretty much tried the entire menu. For the Small section, we got the lettuce, beets and some sort of spinach dish. They were all interesting. For the Medium section, I enjoyed the mussels — a Thai/Asian-inspired soup with hints of citrus. Mussels were fresh. The risotto was a bit bland — like rice with cream and they chucked quail on top. The Large plates were not very impressive. The wagyu was nicely charred on the edges but the meat in itself lacked taste and tenderness. The halibut juxtaposed nicely with the alfalfa sprout paste but was otherwise lacking in oomph. The pork chops which were raved about on Unilocal weren’t anything amazing at all. The sauce was nothing fantastic and the meat in itself was just passable. CONCLUSION 2 stars for service and ambience. 1 star for the creativity of food though not for the taste. Wouldn’t come back.

Everyone must check this area out. Not only is the food tasty, but the décor is just simply stunning! The staff also is super friendly, and you can tell everyone truly loves their occupation. This area is an excellent addition to the neighborhood, and I can not wait to try more of their yummy dishes!

Great little spot for dinner. Small plates for sharing or as entrees. Great service and atmosphere. Seared Marlin was to die for and wagyu ribeye was cooked perfectly. Deserts were over the top good.

We ordered pretty much one of everything for the meats. Taste was really spot on and delish for each dish. Small local spot with not a lot of tables. Great food though. and friendlyl service. Could use better wine glasses. but that’s about it. Great spot.

Cute little space on the west/I5 side of Capitol Hill with a great vibe, some really excellent small plates and liquor selection. I definitely recommend the rotating cheese plate to start, and this last time enjoyed the clams. The specialty drink cocktails are cute, but I stick to my usual gin & tonic(nice selection of gin, though). Mid-course the flatbread pizzas(last time was nettles & other veggies) are great. And for dinner you definitely can’t go wrong if there is lamb or ribeye on the menu. Properly cooked, portions not too large, vegetable accompaniments that make sense. I’ve also found the service to be great — attentive & never totally disappears, but doesn’t hover either. Single shot isn’t large, but it’s also not so tiny you’re crammed in next to people you don’t know. Just enough room that you can eat your dinner without bumping into people, but not so cavernous it loses that charm and small-space feel. I’ve been here twice for dinner now — my advice is definitely make a reservation. Between drinks, appetizers, conversation and dessert you can easily be here for a few hours. Sans a reservation you might not get a table or they might only have it for a short amount of time.

Single Shot easily shot into a top-3 meal I have had in Seattle and a top-10 meal I have ever had, and that’s just factoring in the food. Once you add in the service and atmosphere, it’s hard to find many places that could top this Capitol Hill hot-spot. As an example of their customer service, I called on a Saturday night and talked with the owner Rory, who was willing to reserve bar seating(which is against normal practice) for me and a couple of friends. The food was amazing and the beauty of their menu is that they provide seasonal variations of the staples, so you aren’t looking at an entirely new set of choices every time you come back(considering their food, everything would still be phenomenal), but rather slight tweaks of the tried and true. We started off with charcuterie and some chevre, both very simple, but a great way to kick off the meal. I then had the pork chop, an absolute must here, and it blew me away. The pork chop was perfectly done and served over a bed of romesco with chopped pistachios and pomegranates; I think I could have eaten a few of these then rolled my happy self home. Another example of their impeccable service is when we had a question about something on the menu, the bartender grabbed the chef and he came out to discuss without hesitation. The cocktails here are the classics — you can’t go wrong — but check out their old fashion. Come prepared to enjoyably spend $ 50 – 60 on dinner and drinks.

I came by for dinner tonight based on the recommendation of some friends. I made a reservation and was pleasantly greeted by the hostess. I took a seat at the bar and asked the bartender to make me a fruity, but not too sweet mocktail — he hit the nail on the head and crafted an amazing pear drink. I enjoyed the kale and apple salad and the margherita pizza with prosciutto… so fresh and tasty! The restaurant is beautiful and the bar was so visually stunning. Great bartender, great service, great atmosphere and great food… a winning combination!

Very cool and interesting place. We loved the layout and the staff. I will say it was a real bitch to find this place, the sign is almost transparent and painted on the glass. Parking is typical street parking but it wasn’t that bad to find a spot. Overall this place didn’t miss a beat, the only reason why I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because one or some of the wreaths they decided to hang up wreaked of mildew and it permeated throughout the entire restaurant. Menu was eclectic, so don’t go in expecting something ordinary. I used Open Table to reserve the table and the menu had changed from what they had. We will be going back again!

Among the best spots in Seattle for high-end food served without any hint of a pretentious attitude. Menu changes frequently, with the the duck entrée always proving to be a can’t miss. Return visits compel you to try something new, great for the less adventurous who need a push to break free of their comfort zone. Cocktails are the unsung heroes of this place – they are seemingly a bit overshadowed by the generous wine menu, but each cocktail is prepared with care. Waitstaff is always very helpful with assisting diners with pairing drinks to meals(and vice versa). The dining area is small, almost European style. There are a few stools for those looking for a more secluded dinner. Calling ahead is a must, even mid-week. Highly recommend and will return.

Great place to have dinner. Fare was well done, excellent service, and good beer selection. It’s in the more residential part of Capitol Hill but worth the trek.

A small place with a mighty fine ambience and some delicious drinks to boot. An upscale diner feel, if you will. We had a couple pizzas — Summertime pizza(bacon, tomatoes, squash and more). Light, and tasty — but only the slices which had the bacon on it. And they were not generous with the meat. The margherita pizza lacked the flavor of the Summertime pizza, but still good. It doesn’t seem like you can go wrong with any of the drinks here! I sipped on quite a few of my friends at the table(with or without their permission) and they were all delicioso. NOT a fan of the service here though. Maybe they wanted to have a dreary saloon feel… but a little smile and friendly service can go a long way(and not only when the bill comes!).

What a tucked-away gem! Restobar next to Sun Liquor on a quaint stretch of Cap Hill. Don’t let the name fool you! The opposite of a whiskey bar indeed… Single Shot is quite possibly is the perfect date spot — airy and gorgeous, cozy not cramped, classy not fussy. Met a friend here for pre-dinner drinks and ended up getting dessert, because who can resist? Cocktail list is well-thought out, nicely carried by gin, bourbon and scotch notes. Great spot to unwind over a few drinks while soaking in Single Shot’s loveliness. We split the dessert trio sampler, with tasting portions of each of their sweets: –Valrhona chocolate crèmeux(buckwheat cake with burnt orange caramel and hazelnut brittle): This was *easily* the stand-out, in fact, I would just order the full portion of this. I’m not even a chocolate lover, but the Valrhona flavor was simply outstanding and the texture and flavors worked beautifully together. Loved the buckwheat crumbles and hazelnut brittle was tasty as well. –Toasted honey pot de crème with sesame tuille, juniper and chantilly cream: This was easily outshone by the crèmeux with a lighter flavor profile. If you get the trio, I would probably try this second, the Valrhona last. –Chartreuse & Chocolate Chip Ice Cream: As a chartreuse lover, this was a slight letdown, as the chartreuse note was very, very faint. An otherwise refreshing option!

disappointed when i waited until late night to order off the late night«Great menu» only to learn that the menu was outdated and they were out of 3 of the 6 items, and the suggestions they had still didn’t include the listed ingredients. Going to think twice before making this a first choice for a late night stop for food and a beverage. disappointed.

Love this cute little boîte in Capitol Hill! Came in early on a Thursday evening, so the place wasn’t crowded and we were able to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine. Ordered a lamb tartare to start, which was delicious. It wasn’t your typical tartare preparation — mixed in with a really tasty smoky-spicy sauce that didn’t have too much heat, and topped with nuts and dried apricot. I also had a burrata dish which was also amazing, accented with grilled bing cherries and baby snap peas. Service was fantastic, and the sever accommodated my weird food questions and drink requests with aplomb. The only negative(if that) was the price. It’s a little bit pricy for your typical neighborhood bar, but the quality and service do make up for that price premium. I’ll definitely be back.

I swear Unilocal was created to talk about businesses exactly like Single Shot. This tucked away little local hang out is so supremely awesome that people that don’t live nearby ought to come and check it out. Here’s what’s important and then I’ll break it down: 1) Fantastic food 2) Fantastic cocktails 3) Fantastic service 4) Fantastic atmosphere Are you still reading? You’re not sold? I came here with my fiancé for a late dinner and we happened to be lucky enough to nab a cute little table by the window. It was packed at 10pm so perhaps try calling ahead or asking about whether they take reservations. Since we were close by we just walked in but this little gem is so lovely that it can be busy. But don’t let that dissuade you! We actually had lightening fast service and I was surprised by how well we were tended to given that every barstool and every table was full. The drink menu is diverse but there’s also a great variety of wine for people passing on the spirits. You can’t go wrong with both a cocktail and a glass of wine. Hint, hint! The food menu starts with apps and small plates and works its way down with medium and large plates. Of course the smaller the plate, the smaller the price and the serving. We tried 2 small plates, a medium plate, and a large. –The seaweed butter served with bread was outstanding. –The duck confit pizza with BBQ Hoisin sauce was a huge hit. We also tried two specials and though I’m momentarily forgetting what they were, I remember enjoying them greatly. And because this was so solid all night and service was so great and the atmosphere was relaxing and fun, we opted for dessert. Which we rarely do! And good thing we saved room because like everything else, it was so good. –Valrhona Chocolate Crèmeux — Buckwheat Cake with Burnt Orange Caramel and a Hazelnut Brittle –Toasted Honey Pot de Crème with Sesame Tuille, Juniper and Chantilly Cream –Chartreuse & Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Yes, we had THREE desserts to split. And you should too. With coffee! We had great espresso as well. This is the perfect hang out for catching up with a friend, impressing a boss or family member, or wowing a date. Not ideal for groups of more than 4 or 5 since the entire space seats about 40 – 45 people, but perfect for small groups and people looking for a classy, casual, comfy place to sip and snack. Curious to come back and try their brunch!

It’s located on the quieter side of cap hill, right next to toppot donuts. We made a reservation and went on V’day. We still had to wait a little bit for our table which took about 10 – 15 min(not cool). The ambience is super cool and had a great vibe. The staff very friendly and respectful. We were eventually seated and presented with v’day special prix fixe menu. Thankfully it consisted of some really good dishes. we had lobster orzotto(risotto with orzo), arctic char and mac and cheese with lamb. Loved every course. Super delicious. Their drinks are quite noteworthy. Osiris is extremely refreshing and yumm! Would highly recommend all the house cocktails. We were not super impressed with the dessert — don’t exactly remember what it was and that’s probably because it did not stand out. I will be back for uni and black rice and those amazing flatbread.
