Small coffee bar with serious latte drinks and hip factor. Great smooth roast served in glass rather than ceramic when big drinks are ordered. Nice and highly competent baristas. Great crepes and omelets, beer and wine also served. Excellent micro alternative to Roy Street and other large coffee houses in the vicinity.

The espresso and cold brew is the best in the neighbourhood. I try to visit a place at least twice before giving it a review, and I’m glad that I did for Joe Bar. This is now my favourite place for espresso. My first visit, the staff were so rude that I vowed never to return. I must have caught them on an off day. Pros: I wasn’t impressed by my crêpe, but they still deserve 4 stars for the coffee alone. I’ve learned from trial and error to stick to the existing coffee menu. The baristas aren’t well versed in preparing other drinks, or seem that interested in figuring it out. However, they make a fantastic latte, so I’ll let that go. Cons: The wifi doesn’t work that well, and other customers informed that that this is an on-going issue. They also seem to have an infestation of mosquito eaters, which keeps me from sticking around to enjoy my coffee.

Great little spot in Cap Hill. They have awesome crepes and the best americanos in Seattle. Highly recommend the smoked salmon crêpe or the salami panini. Super friendly staff as well.

Not only does Joe Bar have the best drip coffee around, they are dog friendly! I am so excited to have a place down the street where I can sit inside with my dog, have a delicious cup of coffee, and read all of the local papers. It’s the epitome of local coffee shop but I’m looking forward to coming by sometime in the evening and trying some of their adult drinks.

Lunch with wine. AMBIANCE: 4.0. Grungy independent coffeeshop with comfortable old tables/chairs, set on two levels in clean intimate interior. FOOD: 4.0. We both had the soup of the day: kale and rice soup. Served with several warm baguette slices. Soup and baguette very good, and hit the spot on a cold winter day. Didn’t have coffee on this visit but had in past; was very good. SERVICE: 4.0. Order-taker was friendly, and food was brought to our table.

Great little coffee shop. Their crepes are delicious, would recommend the Gruyère and jamon crêpe. They don’t have a ton of room and people tend to set up shop, so sometimes getting a table can be difficult. But if you can nab a spot it’s a great place to grab a snack and a drink. My friend and I like to play chess here, it’s a cozy warm environment.

I went here a lot when I was a student at Cornish. Their crepes are sooo good that just thinking about it right now makes me want one! Savory or dessert, both are excellent. The employees here are generally friendly, funny, quirky, and witty. The owner has good taste and follows his instincts, and those things show in every brick of Joe Bar, and their rabbit with one ear. It’s small but cozy. Also, this is particularly a good place if you’re a writer or composer or artist and need to sit someplace besides your work to get something down. There’s just good vibes in the air.

Ohhh Joe Bar, I love this place. Very Delicious savory sandwiches and great coffee, all in conjunction of great atmosphere and bunch of stranger smiles. I believe this place just makes people happy.

This place is adorable. They serve coffee, crepes, and wine. I may move in. I love the little upstairs nook. It’s a great place to read or do work.

Classic Cap Hill coffeeshop on a lovely semi-side street. The coffee is good and the baguette sandwiches are tasty, too. Not a lot of seating, but the windows are wide open which allows for a great breeze whilst sippin’ on a cup-o-joe.

Facing the Harvard Exit Theater on a quiet street Joe Bar offers a understated luxury of a leisurely neighborhood café. Like the surrounding neighborhood, north cap hill, Joe Bar is a mix of DIY creativity, rough around the edges, but showcases an attention to serving the local with fine drinks, pastries and crepes. One of my favorite places to go on a regular basis. Perfect for morning coffee and pastry – served with engaging staff. Also excellent place for brunch, with savory crepes and croissant sandwiches. The aroma of the café is brimming with espresso, melting butter(crepes) and racclette cheese – !!! Seating outside is a fine way to catch up with friends or read a newspaper. Or when it is rainy out I enjoy there upstairs seating on extended stays. They feature local artists work routinely, adding a fresh décor of rotating canvasses and installations. Busy during rush hour morning in the weekday, but never wait more than 7 minutes. A popular spot for brunch on the weekend and seating can be hard to get, but turnover is quick. There is a park nearby, perfect to host a picnic!

Star herbal tea = Yum! The art currently on the walls = Meh! Overall = Quaint and cozy, a great neighbourhood coffee shop. The prices are excellent for Seattle. They have coffee, food, tea, wine, and beer. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here but definitely would stop here again if I was in the neighbourhood with a free parking spot and some time to kill before dinner(like I did tonight).

I wanted to like this place based on reviews, but I couldn’t justify it. The lady behind the counter was helpful in giving recommendations on her favorite menu items and got our hot chocolates to us quickly. However, the guy working the kitchen forgot about our orders. We waited patiently for 15 minutes, but by 25 minutes we were really wondering where our food was. When we asked about our orders, he got them to us immediately but claimed that their paninis take a little longer, but couldn’t possibly have taken up to 25 minutes. In short, come for the drinks. Kitchen orders are kind of unreliable.

Cute, quaint with friendly baristas but not overly impressed. The kitchen was closed so I didn’t get to try a crêpe so maybe I missed something there. Got an iced coffee and sat at a table and used my laptop for an hour. It was quiet and ok for getting a little work done. The chairs weren’t too comfortable though. I will probably not return.

We stopped by Joe Bar for brunch after we finished running some errands on Broadway. After my first time at Joe Bar(during my first trip to Seattle 5 years ago), now that am properly a Seattle resident, I had been wanting to come back Joe Bar for a while, mostly whenever I craved some crepes. Our recent experience at Joe Bar, however was sort of underwhelmed. Although I still like Joe Bar’s local community feel, its cute décor and small cozy tables to sit and chat, I felt their service was just lacking(judging from the fact that the drinks($ 3 – 5 ea) /crepes($ 7 – 11 ea) took too long –30+ minutes for us even after we placed our orders – yup, they did forget our order) and the crêpe was not as tasty as what I have hoped. I felt that they did have a good crowd and it was quite a lively place to just gather for coffee. I was just slightly disappointed that this second time I visited Joe Bar, it wasn’t as great as the first time as I had thought it was. I guess today, given a long service and ok crêpe, it made this place fall slightly short of my expectations. However, given they still seem to be able to attract a good crowd in a neighborhood, your mileage may vary though.

If you want bad service and want to be ignored, and a burnt metallic tasting crêpe, with a 30 minute wait, come here. Both me and my guest both had the same experience. Horrible…nothing else to say.

I love that this cozy little gem is just two blocks away from me! It gets busy on the weekends. i like that they serve nice light savory or sweet crepes, light breakfasts, and sandwiches. I enjoy doing some of my design work here with a cup of their delicious chai tea or glass of wine alongside. Fun-fact: I’m no die hard fan but Macklemore popped in once for coffee, super low-key. «Stars! They’re just like us!» haha

What a cute café! Just across the street from the Harvard Exit, this place reminds you that Capitol Hill isn’t just a transient yuppie hangout, it’s an actual neighborhood with non-chain coffee shops like this. The store has character and has local art on its walls. It has some seating for laptop campers and friends wanting to catch up over coffee. My boyfriend and I come here frequently following dinner. It’s a nice destination for decaf cappuccinos for a post-dinner stroll. Sometimes the shots pulled have been bitter but most of the time, they’re quite perfect. When there are some left, we have their croissants. They’re a little too crumbly flaky for my liking but I suppose that’s a personal preference. Overall, a solid café. Nice people. Good drinks. Cute space.

Joe Bar is a nice cozy, crêpe and coffee place that really isn’t a «bar» by most definitions of the word. You can come here for either sweet or savory crepes or a nice cup of coffee. I’m not even sure if they serve alcohol here. Atmosphere: Joe Bar seems to be a nice little area at the border of a commercial and residential district, which means it’s a pretty peaceful area. Inside, there’s lots of pretty dark finished wood, it’s well lit, and the patronage is mostly younger, artsy type people. There’s upstairs balcony seating and there seems to be a lot of people who bring their laptops here to work or hang out. Free W-Fi too! The Food: There’s actually a pretty cool selection of crepes but I only tried their Gouda-Spinach crêpe. It was a bit bitter in a good way and I thought the flavor of the cheese blended very well with the greens. The crêpe itself was very soft and just the right amount of sweet. The Service: While they will bring your food to you, there is no waiter service here. There is self-serve water but it is room temperature and there is no ice. I thought it was a bit odd that there’s an expectation for tip(a screen pops up when you pay with credit card). In addition, I felt it took a pretty long time to get my crêpe but I was able to pass the time surfing the web on their WiFi network. Conclusions: Joe Bar is a nice little place that serves an interesting selection of foods that would be perfect for the young writer or student looking to nibble on crepes while working on a project.
