Love the atmosphere and the food here. It’s a very laid back and casual bar. Service is fairly fast and there’s always a good selection of beer. The pool tables are fairly nice, but you definitely need to bring your own cues. The house cues are always in terrible shape. The felt is in good condition and it’s not a change table(yay!).

I always try to include a visit to the Delux whenever I’m in Seattle. It’s a Capital Hill icon. The food is basic but good. The serviceman are always pleasant and knowledgeable.

Great place to come after church on either Thursday night or Sunday afternoon just down the street. Great brunch, not bad pricing, many varieties of drinks.

Food is nothing special, considering the competition in Seattle. Service is discombobulated, to say the least. Four to five open tables & the hostess makes us wait five minutes to simply sit down ??? Granted she acknowledged us fairly quickly & then just took off. Outside the window, I could see her on a smoke break. Sigh … My wife ordered a medium-well burger & was met w/opposition to take it back. The cook claimed it was already done, & wouldn’t reheat it. Long story short, the customer is not always right & sometimes not a priority. If you want a great burger, go to Great State.

Low-key and unpretentious. I love this place. Went here after a long 4 hr. flight from Chicago and desperately needed to get some food in me. It had been a hot minute since I had been to this place, having moved about 5 yrs ago from Seattle. But, daaaaamn, it was just as good as I remembered it. Simple, but well-done food is all you need in life. And this place delivers that. I ordered the fried oyster po’ boy, which had shredded cabbage, sliced beefsteak tomatoes, pickle chips, a little special sauce, and a handful of breadcrumbed oysters that had the freshest, ooeyiest, and gooiest center. The most impressive part of it was the fact that the breadcrumb coating did not slide off it like coating often does with slimier ingredients. That is a total win in my book. Thank you, Deluxe! For avoiding a potentially slippery, icky mess. While it’s not a traditional po’ boy, it certainly is a noshable Pacific Northwest version of it. And I can get down with that. And the draft beer selection here is pretty dang good. They had a variety of local, diverse beers on tap ranging from red ales to IPAs to a light pilsner to a seasonal saison. Ummm, thirst-quenching adult beverages to quaff down with yummy sandwiches… Yes, please! Count me in! In short, come here for the great local beer selection, the fresh, simple food, and the unassuming environment. If fancy ain’t your thing, get your kicks here.

I don’t write many reviews, but I come here often enough to where I think I should help pull up their average rating. I love the burgers here, im not sure if its the brioche bun or the grass fed beef, but they always taste consistently delicious. The fries are also fantastic. For the most part the service has always been pretty good for us, but we are always pretty simple(no hold this or please recommend what goes good with that, etc.), but I have seen this place pretty busy at times and seem under staffed, so I guess I am not surprised by some of the bad reviews related to service. I most recently came here last weekend, and the service was much better than I have seen(so perhaps they are addressing some of the poor reviews). But at the end of the day, come here for the burgers, fries, and beer, for that I feel as though it is worthy of 4 stars!

Katie and Emily are AMAZING!!! Best service in town! By far the best burger and garlic mayo too! Super accommodating! Katie has memorized my order and I don’t even have to say a word. We dine with them on a weekly basis. They’re friendly, super nice, personable and fun!!! Great atmosphere too! Check them out you’ll be happy you did!

I gave it 2 stars because our server was awesome. But the food was minus 2 stars. We ordered two items. The french dip and a bbq pulled pork burger. The french dip was skimpy and though the menu says the pork has a «mustardy bbq sauce» what we got was a tablespoon of plain pork on top of a burger patty. I think the worst part was the fries. They were pasty, soggy, undercooked and bland. Thankfully our server was incredibly sweet and brought us some crispy fries. Not her fault the kitchen is sending out cafeteria food.

We love Deluxe! Always greeted right away and someone to quickly take your drink order. The awesome team works together to make sure you are well taken care of. The main or bar side is a bit small with tight booths but the back and side areas really open up and will accommodate a small group of late night revellers! The menu is always changing but they do a great job of keeping the favorites. Nothing like a smart alleck chef trying out her(or his) fancy new dishes and dropping the crowd favorites! That didn’t happen here. Fish and chips with the house made tartar is a «can’t go wrong» option along with the steak salad, crab cakes and Mac or any of their awesome burgers. The fries are on point too! For drinks the full bar and amazing beer, wine and cider selections will make your decisions difficult but fun. They fall a little short on the dessert menu but just keep drinking it’s okay.

Really? How can you not love this place? I first came here when I lived just a few blocks away. It was 2004, and I had just moved to Seattle. The QFC had just relocated, leaving a vacant shell, and the Safeway had previously vacated, leaving a similar shell nearby. This part of the Hill was a ghost town, soon to have a garishly tall(3? 4 story?) condo with a fountain(that would get«soaped» regularly). Those were the days of Burgerama, local pints, and papadum crusted chicken strips with mango chutney. Sadly, those are no longer on the menu, and haven’t been since, well, probably 2005. However, they still have a great local tap list, with a bunch of other interesting beers. They have my favorites of Burgerama past, the Blackened Blue and the BOA,(or the Feathered BOA, if you like it with chicken.) This place is casual, and not the New American eatery that you see all over Seattle. This is the old school bar and grill, except the food is better than your usual pub grub fare, without it being the over-the-top artisanal bull. The fries are perfectly good, the burgers are delicious, and the chicken strips are crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I miss having this place so near to my house. It’s been too long since I’ve been back.

We met some friends at DeLuxe to catch up and enjoy some cocktails. It was a recommendation from our Seattle friends so it wasn’t a surprise that it was a good place. Wait staff was a little awkward with us, but we were a rowdy bunch so I think it was fine. One of my friends ordered the cobb salad. It was giant and tasted great. I ordered the rib-eye and it was very tender. The temp was a little more cooked than I usually prefer, but the cut was good and I enjoyed it. I also really liked my Caesar salad. The bf ordered shrimp and grits and for once he wasn’t sad that he didn’t order what I had. I also really liked the Brussel sprouts. They were yummy. After dinner we moved into the pool hall room and had a lot more fun. The bartender was nice and tolerated us pretty well since some of us were pretty drunk. Fun little casual restaurant/bar. The annabella Pinot Noir was pretty good especially for the $ 6.50 price. Also, it should be noted that the Rainier pint was only $ 3.00 That’s a great deal!

We usually have great service but tonight was horrid, rude female wait staff, she rushed us through the whole dinner and In between rushing us sat and socialized at a table across from us?! No second drink offer, no can I get you anything else. Then to finish it all off a couple came in a sat them selfs as they were not being helped, then a waitress made a scene moving them a table one spot over, the place was less than 15% full! Food was typical/good except for the tomato stem on the tomato. Maybe a one time thing, well this better be a one time thing. If this kinda of service does not improve I won’t come back. Hey Deluxe get rid of the rude kid servers with bad attitudes and focus on customer service & details to food quality.

I like the pub and grub atmosphere. We had a family of 5, we all had burgers, the Pub burger, Old School and a two kids burgers. Kiddos ate everything! It was nothing fancy or out of this world but I would definitely go back to get some pub food! Service was great and friendly. Food came out fast. It wasn’t noisy and it was clean. I would recommend if you are lookin for a burger/sandwich and brew! I loved the carmelized onions!

My group was craving burgers and a good beer after driving back to Seattle from Vancouver. This divey place definitely hit the spot. We walked in and was greeted right away. It was so cold outside so we were happy they offered a seat next to the fireplace. Burgers we had: truffle mushroom, ultimate BOA and the classic with bacon/cheese. My burger was tasty. I asked for medium rare and got it. :) the meat was tender and juicy. The other two were cooked as desired and also tender. We added fries to one of burgers and they were crispy and lightly salted. We also got the Thai chicken wings. I didn’t taste too much of the Thai flavoring, but the salad bits such as the carrots and nuts had the sauce on it. They were a bit chewy. Nothing too special. The beers were good. I had a peach cider and a great new find. Definitely come for the beers and burgers!

Came in here to kill some time. To my surprise it was happy hour and an even happier bartender ready to serve me. My intention was a quick stop but ended in all enjoyable visit with Cory the bartender. Chicken strips were made in house and delightful… I will definitely be back for round two!

I’m not really a burger fan, but my parents asked me to join them for happy hour at the Deluxe Bar and Grill at 4 pm today. This was our first time going there, and my parents were excited to try food from this 53-year-old Cap Hill establishment. Well, our experience was pretty awful because of the following events: 1. When our waitress showed up to take our drinks, my mom asked for a piña colada. The waitress immediately said, «We don’t serve pina coladas here.» I pointed to the little drink specials menu at the end of our table and said, «Oh, but it says pina coladas are $ 8 here,» to which the waitress responded, «Oh.» When my mom asked if she could ask the bartender to go a little easy on the alcohol, the waitress kind of stared at my mom, so my mom decided to get a virgin piña colada instead. 2. When our waitress came back to take our meal orders, my dad ordered the truffle burger. The waitress asked how he wanted the burger cooked, and my dad was confused and asked if there was meat in the burger(the description didn’t say anything about a meat patty). The waitress responded in a condescending, exasperated tone, «Sir, what temperature do you want your burger? Do you want it rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, or well done?» and pointed to the chart on the menu that showed the different temperatures the meat could be cooked at and short descriptions. My dad asked for medium rare, and then repeated, «Is there meat in the burger?» The waitress then said, with some attitude, that all the burgers have 100% grass-fed beef. 3. Shortly after our waitress took our order, she kind of plopped the ketchup and mustard bottles and three napkins on the center of our table and then left. We didn’t get any utensils until later, when our appetizers showed up and my mom asked for forks. Once we got our food, my dad asked to speak to the supervisor/manager of our waitress. We explained to him how we were shocked with our waitress’ reaction to my dad’s simple question about the truffle burger, and his response was something along the lines of, «Oh, sorry. She might be having a bad day because it was really busy earlier today,» and he said he’d talk to her. When our waitress came by later and asked what we thought about the food, we told her we were taken aback by her rudeness. She gave us a lukewarm apology and started acting much nicer to us. I understand that people have bad days, but this was the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. On a side note, the hostess and the waitress who refilled our water glasses were very polite. All complaints aside, here’s a review on the food: We ordered the deluxe chicken wings and the fried calamari as appetizers, and the Ultimate BOA burger and the truffle burger as our main course. I lost my appetite because of our waitress’ attitude, so I hardly ate anything. But my parents said they really liked the food, and that the burgers are as good as the gourmet burgers from Uneeda Burger in Fremont. My mom also said their fried calamari was the best she’s ever had. The one-star review is solely because of the service.

What is wrong with the fries? We came for lunch on a weekday. The service was good, the prices are good, but the entire table agreed — there was something wrong with the fries… I’ve never had fries like this before, there was literally no potato left inside the oily crunchy shell that they had turned each fry into. Even limp mushy fries would’ve been tolerable, but this was a new level of terrible. They managed to mess up fries so badly that I could not eat them. I have never sent food back before and I actually had to ask the waitress for another order of fries because these were inedible… the next batch that came out was slightly better but still really bad.

Cool bar /billiard spot in Capitol Hill! The atmosphere is very chill and casual. The menu consists of amazing food. Please consider truffle burger and chicken wings. The fries are extra $ 2 on your check, but they are crunchier and more delicious than McDonald’s French fries, right? The truffle burger is just juicy. Plus, the chicken wings have the Asian touches in them. You can definitely tell the ginger sauce, which is something I would have in my home-made chicken wings. You have the choices of whether sitting at the bar(with a valid ID) or hanging out at the dining area(if you want to get away from the bar). There’s also the billiard room, which charges you per hour if you decide to play some pool. The service at the bar was acceptable. I glanced over some reviews, and I noticed some complaints about some servers not coming back to check on the customers but only would approach if they were waved down. I guess I was lucky because I came in at 4 pm on a Thursday, when everyone was still getting off of work. The place was pretty chill, so the servers had the time to walk around and offered better service. The atmosphere would definitely change on a weekend … I can only imagine. Woohoo! Parking around this area is 4 hours free, so you’re having enough time to eat and to chill at the restaurant! You should come to this bar and enjoy some good food on the menu. I’ll come back soon!

One word. Burger-rama. Oh yeah. This place is an establishment that has been around quite some time and it’s pretty awesome. Food prices are fairly inexpensive and overall it’s pretty tasty. You don’t come in here looking for some gourmet meal… it’s all about the awesome beers on tap, friendly staff, outdoor seating, and the Wednesday Burger-rama. What’s that you ask? Basically it’s any burger on the menu for cheap… AND vs. paying extra on other days of the week… your salad or fries are free. Just make sure you order a drink. For a cheeseburger with all the fixins and special sauce… not to mention a good sized salad and a pint… with taxes it only hit me at $ 12. The beer was as much as my burger. Overall you can’t beat a burger for $ 5. It will not be the best burger you ate in your entire life, but needless to say they are indeed good. I shall return!

A pitcher of beer and three hangover burgers please! Not that the three of us were hungover. However, I think we earned that beer AND those burgers after a 7+ mile hike. The hangover burger comes with bacon, cheese, a fried egg, and«special sauce.» My honey asked for his burger sans fried egg and we were able to get onion rings instead of fries for no extra charge. They seem pretty flexible like that. Beer and food was good. Service was friendly.
