Some Unilocal reviews say the prices are a bit high, but I found Queen Bee Café’s prices to be contrary to that statement. For being in Queen Anne/Seattle, the portions were good and the total on my meal was about 1⁄3 less than other bakery/cafes in Queen Anne(specifically Macarina if you’re comparing to a breakfast sandwich and coffee). I got the Avocado Caprese– which was delicious! Their pesto really makes the sandwich perfect. I wasn’t totally sure about the crumpet aspect, as I was told it was like a mix between a pancake and a biscuit– but Queen Bee’s crumpets were amazing! Moist, but not falling apart. Heavy enough to hold up a sandwich but not too heavy to stuff you. You also get a small side with the crumpet order, unless you order single crumpets. I told my sister and her husband about Queen Bee, and they’ve been back twice now. I will be back shortly as well!

Really cute coffee shop. Very friendly and dog friendly. Water dish out front, brought my friends dog In and they offered him a dog treat which he gladly accepted. The roast was very flavorful. They serve stump town coffee. I ordered a latte. I usually like my lattes on the sweeter side but they didn’t have the hazelnut syrup to add to my drink. They did have hazelnut milk which wasn’t quite the same but I still enjoyed it nonetheless.

I live a couple blocks away and have been intrigued ever since I saw it opening up. The staff is friendly, the lattes creamy, and the food tasty. I had the smoked turkey avocado, and the aioli was very flavorful, which makes all the difference! The costs are a little high but a) they don’t skimp on the meat for the crumpwich and b) profits go to a good cause, so it’s worth the indulgence once in awhile. Excited to try more!

I’m so sick of hearing people say that«all profits go to charity». As another reviewer noted, this does not mean the executive director and staff aren’t paid a ton since those are costs… Profit=revenue minus costs. I’d feel better about supporting this business if they would provide their tax information or if the executive director would come out and say he forgoes a salary. Anyway, this place is insanely expensive and the portions are tiny. And if I had proof this place was indeed helping people and not just a great marketing scheme, I wouldn’t mind so much. Like I’m a tiny person and after eating a crumpwich and a crumpet, I still feel hungry. Crumpwhich was soggy and kinda a mess to eat. Crumpet was good but other places around town sell crumpets and they are just as good and not so tiny. I actually thought that there were standards as to the size of a crumpet. This place makes me want to make my own at home since it includes very simple ingredients.

There’s been a lot of buzz about Queen Bee Café because of its cute décor and meaningful concept. Serving a variety of sweet and savory crumpets, this café is dedicated to donating 100% of its profits to local charities. :) My friend and I came by one afternoon for a quick coffee break and snack. There was only one person working at that time, so it took a little while for us to get our order. The current special is a vanilla and cranberry crumpet — we ordered it, later to have the barista tell us that they were out of cranberry. :(Fortunately, we were able to substitute it with marionberry instead. The crumpet itself was a tad on the overly sweet side. Maybe it was the combo of the vanilla paste(?) and the marionberry jam, but it was a good thing we ordered coffee because it helped balance out the sweetness. Definitely expect to pay a little more when you visit Queen Bee. Our two short lattes and crumpet ended up being around $ 16.(Ooof. :X) The barista was nice enough to give us a few«Buy a beverage, get a free crumpet» cards though because of the cranberry situation. :) Personally, I’ve had better crumpets elsewhere at a friendlier price, but I think the draw of this café is its vision. I’d come again to try a savory crumpet or «Crumpwich», however I’m hesitant about making Queen Bee Café a go-to stop because of the prices.

What a great find !! First off, I just say I was impressed with the fact that 100 percent of their profits go to local charities. Their menu items consist of fresh baked crumpets and sandwiches. I had for breakfast their ham, egg and cheese crumpet with a side of sweet potato chips! The food was delicious! The staff there are friendly and give great customer service. Prices for coffee are pretty standard but food menu items are a little pricey

Went to the Queen Bee for the first time yesterday and was greeted by friendly, smiling and overall very helpful and enthusiastic staff. Got the green smoothie, which I am usually very picky about but I was very happy with. It was thick, cold, delicious and energized me throughout the day! Can’t wait to go back soon. A much better addition to the neighborhood than a Starbucks :)

This place is perfect! Everything is locally sourced and the customer service is exceptional. I won’t be going anywhere else for my morning coffee and crumpets. My favorite part about Queen Bee is the staff — especially Haley. She always puts a smile on my face and makes my day better with her positive and friendly attitude. I know it’s slightly pricey, but I promise it is worth it!

When the majority of Unilocal reviewers say«the prices are a bit high,» they are being overly kind. The prices — for what you get — are extraordinarily high. I’m talking about two crumpets that are literally 2-inches in diameter(way smaller than packaged crumpets or crumpets at Pike Place Market). For $ 8, you get a little blackberry preserve and a few slices of strawberry on the crumpets. «Sandwiches» made with those tiny crumpets are $ 11 and up. A normal-sized person would need to order about 3 sandwiches for lunch! Yes, Queen Bee makes an ostentatious show of the fact they«donate 100% of their profits to charity.» Net profits, of course, which means either they are paying their employees very generously or they’re padding the books. Now, I’m all for donating to charity. But it’d be interesting for them to post what those amounts are. The employees have been instructed to say that the owner, who owns the Aegis retirement homes, is just a generous guy. Maybe raking in the dough from the older folks, he decided on this pet project named after his mom. None of that really matters. As a diner, you expect good food at a good value. The crumpets are just okay, and a good value they are not.

Coffee and crumpets were really good, maybe a little bit pricey. Anyway, this place is a good addition to upper Queen Anne.

I stopped for coffee two days in a row, just in case my first visit was a fluke; it was not. Their espresso is excellent! For dairy subs, they don’t have almond milk, which is what I usually order, but they have hazelnut instead. Whaaat?! An even fancier nut milk?! I’m not sure how this can be cost effective, but it certainly is delicious. Speaking of cost effective, their prices are slightly steeper than average, but all profits go to local charities. If you’re already planning on spending $ 4+ for a latte, you can hardly bitch about that.

What a wonderful place! Super friendly, welcoming staff and delicious food. The crumpets are to die for. And, they make a mean Stumptown latte! Can’t wait to come back!

I came in this morning with my boyfriend for an early breakfast. We each had an Americano, he had the BLT with an egg, I had the smoked turkey. While the coffee was good and service friendly, the price point for the food was ridiculous. First, the«L» of his BLT consisted of two romaine stalks. As in, the part of the leaf you normally discard before chopping it into a salad. As in, bitter and unacceptable. Second, the egg on it was microwaved! This is a huge pet peeve of mine(which I ignore when the sandwich is priced appropriately) and for what we were paying I expected a bit more class. Third, the salads which accompanied the sandwiches were very small and swimming in dressing. Most importantly, when I order a $ 12 sandwich I expect to leave at least somewhat full, but when we sat down and looked at our food we were amazed by how expensive it was and wondered what we were actually paying for. Keep in mind I’ve worked in the food industry for over a decade and am familiar with food and labor costs. After leaving we stopped by a bakery to share a small, second meal, which I believe is unacceptable after just paying $ 30+ for breakfast. Needless to say, we won’t be frequenting Queen Bee again.

Cheery interior, friendly staff, & scrummy, if a little pricey, crumpets. Easy to feel good about the expense though, as all profits go to a local charity. I thoroughly enjoyed my berry topped crumpets and will be back to try a savory one in the future!

Made the stop in on a morning walk — enjoyed a cookie and an americano. Nice little café with friendly staff. They also have some outdoor seating.

Great coffee, amazing cocoa, and a warm friendly staff. This is the difference between Queen Bee and most every other coffee shop in Seattle. The drinks brewed are outstanding, but having genuine and kind people serving them makes a world of difference. Check out Queen Bee, you won’t be disappointed! Oh! And the banana cream pie crumpet will knock your socks off!

A welcome addition to the neighborhood! Menu is thoroughly enticing, and I can’t wait to try everything! I had the turkey and avocado crumpwich with side salad and a Queen Bee latte. Everything was delicious and just the right portion size to satisfy my normally large appetite! Prices are a touch high, but I imagine it’s because 100% of profits are donated to local charity– and I’m cool with that! While you order at the counter, they bring your coffee and food to you once you find a seat. The place itself is small but cozy. It’s on a corner lot, and both sides of the space are lined with Adirondack chairs outside. Inside, the large plate glass windows are lined with eat-at counters of varying heights; as such, one side has taller chairs than the other, so depending on whether you prefer to sit higher while eating is up to you. There are two tables in the middle of the café as well for dining in. The chairs are so cute and the whole place is minimalistic modern chic, which lends a calm and happy mood. I loved the recycled glass jars with flowers placed on the counters! There are outlets under the counters if you plan to stay and work a while– a much appreciated detail, since that’s the reason I tend to frequent cafes. Music was at an acceptable volume for getting work done, and I hope they continue to be mindful of that(so many places aren’t!). Lastly, the service was excellent. A sincere, enthusiastic hello was given as I walked in the door as was the case for every single other patron who entered while I was there. Food and drinks were brought out in a timely manner despite being fairly crowded. They also came into the dining area several times to check and see how people were enjoying their food. As people left, a sincere«Have a nice day!» or «See you next time!» was shouted. I will definitely be back regularly, as I eat my way through the amazing menu!

Queen Bee Café officially opened yesterday 9÷26÷2015 and it’s an aptly-named welcome addition to the Queen Anne Neighborhood. This café is not the first– Its sister café in Cap Hill has a pretty stellar reputation( ). Overall, it doesn’t disappoint. Crumpets are nicely prepared and you have a wide array of savory and sweet options to adorn them. Floor space is a bit tight if you dine in, but the tall windows in this corner space helps things feel more open. Coffee is from Stumptown so folks on the hill have even more choices of their daily drink. Crumpets are pricey, but all profits go to a local charity; currently it’s the Queen Anne Helpline. From their website: «At the Queen Bee, we are honored to support the local charities that serve to better our community. Each trimester, we will select one not-for-profit charity to donate all profits.»

I’ve been walking by Queen Bee for weeks waiting for its Grand Opening. Today was the day! And what a day. I had more crumpets today than I have had in years. OK, I confess, I only had one crumpet. But that’s still more than I’ve had in years. Plus we bought six stand-alone crumpets to go — so I’ll probably have even MORE crumpets later today. And at Queen Bee they have products called ‘Crumpwiches’ — come on now, I would buy those for the name alone — and I did. For some reason I expected crumpets to be dry. They were not at all. They were great. If I were to liken them to anything I guess it would be small, sturdy pancakes. They’re hard to describe. I suggest you visit Queen Bee to find your own adjectives, similes and metaphors. I’m attaching a photo of Smoked Turkey Crumpwich(with avocado, Beecher’s Cheddar, basil mayo and arugula). Also the Pork Cubano Crumpwich and the BLT Crumpwich. They come with sides like a side salad or fruit, or a third thing that escapes me at the moment The bacon on the BLT was thick and perfectly crispy, it had sort of a pesto-like basil mayo. The Pork Cubano was also yum with pickles and a tangy mustard. There is mustard or mayo on most crumpwiches, but you can probably opt out when you order. We’ve yet to try any of the sweet crumpets — but we will be back. I also look forward to trying their chowder. So you may ask yourself, why ONLY4 stars? Well the seating location inside is quite small and the parking can be difficult. The prices(see attached menus) are a little on the pricey side. But in the words of Unilocal,«Yay! I’m a fan.»
