I’m a huge fan of Macrina. They have the best pastries. Especially love their morning glory muffin and lemon lavender cake. We even had our wedding cake made by them many moons ago and they did a fabulous job. I’m knocking off one star for the crabby hipster staff and for them constantly being out of everything during prime time hours. No bacon on a Sunday morning, say what?!

Great bread, even the day old bread tastes 1000% better than what you can buy at any grocery store. I would literally walk the 50 miles from my home in Bonney Lake to buy a loaf of their bread; it’s THAT good.

This is probably my favorite bakery in Seattle. Such delicious food and treats, and a nice place to sit and work. Try the quiche!

I want to give Macrina 5 stars. I’ve even been thinking the service alone will bring it down to 3 stars. At least for the one in Queen Anne on Mcgraw. There are a few girls behind the counter who are just NOTNICE. I have spoken about this with several of my friends and they completely agree. I was so fed up, that one day I mentioned it to one of the employees and her response was,“Before I started working here, I kind of liked that they weren’t outgoing/friendly. They just took my order and left me alone.” Maybe I will never understand that. The food has been delicious. I was obsessed with their chai and they haven’t had it for months now so I haven’t been back.

I got the Carne quiche at 11 am. Even though it was busy brunch hour, we still managed to grab one of the last seats. It never seemed like people had to wait for a table. The quiche was exceptional. The egg was super soft and the crust had the right amount of flakiness. The bun, that I forgot the name of, was really good too. Their dessert case is mouthwatering. I also got a chocolate ganache cupcake Togo but that was very mediocre. The bread was dry and the only good parts was the tiny raspberry filling in the middle and the top of the cupcake with ganache. The rest of it tasted like I was eating brownie from a prepared brownie mix. The quality is not what you would expect from a bakery. I guess their bakery items can be hit or miss?

Bustling bakery with limited, but excellent brunch choices. I gambled on the celery root & turkey quiche with fontina cheese… I’m normally not the adventurous type, this makes me question my normal MO. This was the best quiche I’ve ever had. Is has a small seating area, but the line flowed quickly and a good number of people picked up bakery items to go. Will go back new time in Seattle.

Macrina was a fun spot for brunch offering a variety of delicious and unique pastries, breakfast plates, and breads. Since it was our first visit, we indulged a bit and tried quite a few things. The highlight of our haul was the morning roll and the morning glory muffin. The morning roll was a croissant dough with sugar in the layers — no one can resist a sweet croissant! The morning glory muffin was packed with pineapples, apples, carrots, and nuts. We also got the brioche breakfast sandwich and salmon bialy — the breads for both were soft and the ingredients fresh and well seasoned. The Macrina baguette that we brought home was also yummy for an afternoon snack.

I meant to post pictures of my food but didn’t remember that I was going to do that until after I scarfed my food down. Macrina is absolute perfection. Pies, muffins, biscuits, savory items, you name it, everything is mouth-wateringly delicious. The café is quite small and the tables are squeezed pretty tightly together, but I didn’t have a problem finding a place to sit. They also do special order wedding cakes, and they are absolutely beautiful. I make it a point to visit Macrina every time I’m in Seattle. Sooo good!

Bfast with our son while visiting Seattle. A small and somewhat noisy place for conversation but the vibe here is working bakery. Leave your order at the counter and they being your food to your table. Several cases are filled with a variety of freshly baked breads, scones, cookies etc. We ordered pumpkin in celebration of the upcoming Day of Thanks. Moist and full — but not too full — of pumpkin flavor. I had the granola with yogurt and fruit — very good. The other main fare were egg sandwiches served on fresh brioche bread. My son and husband raved about them with every bite. I am not a bread eater so was disappointed to find out that no other eggs were available during the week — only the precooked kind for the sandwich. That was my only negative on this establishment. Coffee was good with a choice of medium roast or dark roast for the drip. It was served in old fashioned round cups vs. normal mugs. I really like drinking coffee from this sort of cup:) It’s the small things…

Pretty characteristic of Seattle’s reputation for killer experiences and great food. Staff is friendly, food is amazing, and they make a mean cappucino. Note: NOT a low carb lunch destination. They’re in my neighborhood, as I only live a block away. Some interesting things to know about Macrina: –The founder has a recipe in one of Julia Child’s cook books and appeared in an episode of Julia Child’s show –They have three locations, the queen anne location was the second opened –If you’re at a classy restaurant in Seattle and you’re eating bread that wasn’t baked in-house, it was probably baked by Macrina –There isn’t a single thing you could buy from here that isn’t high quality, delicious, and made with love –Macrina is not open for dinner, but is a damn good spot for breakfast or lunch

Cute and neighborly, though claustrophobic when busy. The coffee is rich and refillable and the pastries are pleasant. Would like to see more GF options and a brighter display case. Coffeeshops like this make me want to relocate.

I have always wanted to try Macrina Bakery, but for some reason when I lived in Seattle I never made it. We were visiting this weekend and needed a quick, easy, and delicious breakfast on our way to the zoo. Macrina fit the bill, so we stopped in around 8:30 on Saturday. It was bustling inside, but there were only 2 people in front of us in line. We wanted something hearty and a pastry or two(you really can’t resist). They serve brunch on the weekends so I settled on a classic breakfast with eggs, sausage, potatoes, and toast. I figured my 2 year old would nibble on my breakfast so I rationalized a pastry as well. I went for a fruit braid, it had a sweetened ricotta, blueberries, and nectarines all wrapped in a flaky pastry. We all dug into that while we were waiting for breakfast. It was really delicious and not overly sweet, which I appreciated, I would totally indulge again. The breakfast was good. The eggs were nice and fluffy, the potatoes were cooked well although they lacked a little seasoning, the sausage was good but a little on the cold side. My husband had the fried egg sandwich and he loved it. It was hard to eat but he managed. He also got a cinnamon roll on the side and we ended up eating it the next day. It was good, although I would have preferred it heated, but it had a really delicious cream cheese icing on top. Overall, I was impressed with their pastries and they fill a really great niche. Definitely indulge in a pastry, or two!

People flock here for their pastries. They have the typical breakfast pastries like croissants, rolls, quiches, coffee cake… etc… and they also have a variety of different pastries that are very unique like their nutella puffs. Def worth a try. Unfortunately, their coffee can be better. I’d get it just cause I’m there at the store, but its not something i desire or crave. I’d rather go to starbucks or storyville for coffee. Overall, a really cute local coffee shop that I would go back to time and time again.

This Queen Anne bakery and café is both precious and excellent. I went in to buy my boyfriend a dessert to eat after his conference meetings during the day. Located on a typically adorable Queen Anne street, Macrina has unusual pastries, one of which I couldn’t even pronounce(it starts with a P but I didn’t write it down so can’t share). I chose a chocolatey thing that turned out to be gluten-free. I am not GF and neither is my boyfriend(nor do 95% of the Americans eat a GF diet need to do so for health reasons), but the lovely lady assured me that he wouldn’t notice because it was more like a flourless chocolate dessert(very dense). I tested some financier-like almond chocolate thing while paying for his dessert and while I don’t indulge often in desserts, this was too good to pass up. I bought it and ate for breakfast the next morning. I forget what it was called but it rhymed with«Grenache.» The sandwiches looked great. Macrina would be my go-to breakfast café if I lived in Queen Anne. Every dessert and menu item I saw looked scrumptious as well as reasonably-priced. This is a theme in my Seattle Unilocal reviews which I will collect into a list. Seattle food and booze is cheaper than LA or NYC or SB and just excellent. A real plus for foodies on a budget considering a place to settle.

I came here for a casual breakfast with my parents. We didn’t feel like doing a full on brunch meal so we just ordered their cauliflower prosciutto quiche and their oatmeal. Their quiche was absolutely amazing. It was a perfect balance of cheesy and savory. The cauliflower had been roasted so perfectly and the prosciutto gave it that perfect savory flavor that resonated throughout the rest of the quiche. The crust was cooked so perfectly flaky without being dry. I also love how our server gave us two slices, stating that while he was cutting one slice, the other piece broke and it would have no meaning in life because no one would buy it and therefore he just gave it to us. I feel for that quiche. The oatmeal was also really great. I loved the blueberries(although hot fruit is never really a fav, but I like that it wasn’t overly sweet), almond slices, and brown sugar. On the side, they also provided steamed milk. I loved the attention to detail in this dish, even though it’s just oatmeal. I would definitely love to come back. I like how they have some outdoor seating, which allowed us to bring out dog.

Adorable, friendly, and tasty! I would love a coffee house/bakery like this one in my neighborhood back in Charlotte. The employees are very happy and friendly. When I asked what was the best breakfast treat, the guy had a grin ear to ear and said that it was difficult to say because everything was delicious. Ha! Indeed every item looked fantastic and it is all made in house. I ordered the fruit muffin and hubs got the oatmeal with the Morning Glory muffin. The coffee is unlimited! What a perk! I got the highly acclaimed Mexican mocha and it was rich and fantastic. It was fun to see this place draw in the young and older from the Queen Anne ‘hood. I could envision myself making this my regular place for breakfast and getting my bakery needs filled if I lived here. The display case was lovely and breads lined baskets. Wow, how enticing! The environment was warm and relaxing. Although many people came in and out, I never felt any frenzy. My ideal public resting place! If you happen to be in the area, drop in and sit a spell.

Wholy fresh bread! This place is da bomb. If I could swing it, all my bread would come fresh baked from Macrina. Having lived around the corner for a few years, I feel pretty confident in my breakfast-pastry-to-go recommendations: 1) Ham & cheese brioche: fresh Macrina brioche wrapped around ham & gruyère. It’s amazing. And around St Paddy’s day they modify it to include corned-beef, sauerkraut & mustard, making it possibly the best thing ever. 2) Morning glory muffin. My weekday go-to. Kind of like a less sweet version of carrot cake, packed with fresh fruit. It goes perfectly with a cup of black coffee. Crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside, fresh baked, and just sweet enough to be a treat without being over-the-top. Finally tried their hot breakfasts today, and they lived up to my expectations, with suuuper fresh ingredients and lots of flavor. Best neighborhood bakery ever.

Went here on a Sunday looking for some brunch. It seemed to get good reviews on Unilocal so thought we would give it a try. They have some displays of their hot foods and it looked pretty good. I got the fried egg sandwich with bacon that is on their regular menu. My boyfriend got the french toast with 2 chicken sausages, pear, topped with marscapone. I was realllly happy with my sandwich. I wish there were more red peppers but I enjoyed all those grilled onions in it. The bread was kind of shaped like a fish and wasn’t super hard, but had a nice texture to it with poppy seeds. The french toast was nice and fluffy and overall the dish wasn’t too sweet. The chicken sausage was AMAZING! The portion size was a little bigger than I expected as well. I would definitely come back to try their pastries. Everything looked super good but I was too full by the end of the meal. I also got an iced mexican mocha and the chunks of chocolate at the bottom made the drink that much better :) Ample amount of seating near the windows or tables.
