I give it 1 star because I never got food poisoning.

This one is hit or miss. I’ve eaten from here twice. Once it was excellent and unique in my Seattle experience. The second it was questionable. I would say to give it a shot. The proprietor is passionate about his restaurant and it is always a joy to see someone with fire in them about their work and their life. Their Mediterranean competition just down 45th is The Golden Olive but has an entirely different feel and taste. There really isn’t any comparing the two. I will return to see how things are over the last couple of months and revise this at that time.

this place is too expensive for what you get. but that said, i had the falafel salad plate for lunch and it was really good – hence the 3 stars. there’s some spice sprinkled on there that was crack-like to me. but damn, like 9 bucks for a falafel plate? for lunch?

This place has the best Hummus in town, though after you eat it you won’t be able to socialize with anyone for 48 hours(heavy garlic). The staff are very accommodating and friendly, and the prices are reasonable for the food you get.

I wanted to like this place, since someone had recommended it to us. But, we really did not enjoy our food. I can’t remember what we ordered – I believe it was the lentils with rice. Somehow, it was all mush and without any discernible flavor. The place was totally empty when we were there – which always makes it difficult to really enjoy your food. But, given that we didn’t like our meal, we’re not too surprised that no one was there. Also, the price of our meal did not match the quality of the meal. I was surprised at how expensive the entrees were. Maybe we should have stuck with the gyros.

The Gyros are tasty and of course, messy. The babaj ganoush is pretty good… a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. But…(you knew there had to be something coming, didn’t you?)…the pita bread served with the ganoush was stale, like it had been warmed in the microwave too many times and although my wait-person replaced it when I asked, it put a sour tone to the meal. I might go back but there’s too many other places in Wallingford to eat for me to want to chance a mediocre meal again.
