Pretty much the war room, except with a less cool name. They took out some walls and added some extra seating, I guess to make it more lounge like. They have a lot of the same djs the war room had and they brought in at least one act I like(kill the noise). The drinks were strong and relatively inexpensive. Its a really cool building in a busy neighborhood and has a rooftop deck. You would think it should be super busy but it seem they’re doing no more business then the war room. I can’t really say anything specific about the staff; they were a non-event. They have some good electro-house DJs on Wednesday and that’s usually why I go there. If it is just the local house DJs there’s no cover, if they are out-of-towners it’s been $ 7 everytime I’ve been which is reasonable. I tried to go on a Friday once and the crowd was a lot more ghetto and the cover was $ 10; I opted-out of going in that night. It would be a lot better if it was about 10x as busy on the nights I’ve been there I think.

Just checked out the rennovated lounge. They just opened up about a week ago, and still seems like they’ve got some kinks to work out: The theme is strange. Is it going for a hunter lodge or a NYC style club. They’ve got a few taxidermy deer heads on the wall but it seems out of place. The service was lack luster. For a lounge, you kind of expect reasonable table service. The place was largely dead and our server only came up to our table once to ask for our drinks. After a few drinks one of my party asked for some water — which she noted was«easily accesible via a jug by the wall». Who does that at a lounge? It’s called a lounge since people bring drinks to you — not because it’s a self service place. She spent the rest of the night chatting with other wait staff as there were only 2 tables with people in them. When I noted the drink had a bad mixer — she merely went«Ok» and walked off. Only returning to collect the cash for the drinks without a word. Service I give 1 star. The music was also WAY too loud. I love clubs — but this made it impossible to carry on a conversation without screaming — in the lounge room. Overall — lackluster service and underwhelming experience. Spend our money elsewhere until they get the kinks worked out.

This used to be the War Room up on Capitol Hill but apparently the same owners wanted to relaunch it as something different. While War Room was undoubtedly a club, they try to market this new place as more of a «lounge» with a club aspect to it. It simply feels like more of the same with a dance floor and hardly any lounge aspect to it. It looks like they spent some money on the dance floor area with some pretty cool wall art, but the front«lounge» area is very plain with chocolate brown walls without any sort of art or design save for a sole basic H & G and some pieces of wood crossing. The design looks straight out of a junior high wood shop. The leather built-in seats are nice, but the plain walls really stood out. I went with some friends last night(a day after opening) and was pretty disappointed by the place. First off, for a lounge to have security where they pat you down for weapons and charge you cover is unheard of. At that point I figured that this might not be a lounge, but a club. Even though we were initially some of the only people in the place and there were four bar staffers behind the bar. The woman who was serving us frankly took no joy in her job. She delivered two beers which were warm and a cocktail with flat soda. When my brother noted that the soda was flat she simply looked blankly at him and said«okay», but did nothing. With how inexpensive drinks are and how key top service is at a bar opening, I would have at least expected her to replace the drink. If you like the scene at Venom, Twilight or perhaps the former War Room, you will like the Hunter and Gatherer Lounge(club). Neither I or any of my friends will won’t go back due to the awful wait staff, horrible drinks, pat down security and sketchy crowds.
