You know it’s legit when the clientele is 60% Asian — a family owned Korean restaurant with serious kimchi chops! Delicious Soft Tofu soup & spicy marinated pork — so good! You will want a refill on rice here — only $ 1/bowl

I’d never had Korean before, but recently saw bibimbap on a TV show and wanted to try it. My brother and I went here and both got the bibimbap with chicken, beef and pork. It was AWESOME! It came out in a sizzling bowl and stayed piping hot through the whole meal. The red sauce in the bottle was sweet and a little spicy. The rice at the bottom of the bowl got a little crispy from the sizzling and had a wonderful texture. I could eat this several times a week. I will definitely be back. Go here!

I ordered the California Roll because I wanted something light, and it really wasn’t much to write home about. The Bibimbap looked much better, but I chose Cali roll so I’ll stick to that. There was too much rice, and very little flavor.

An unassuming little place, this is one of my team’s go-to lunch spots and we always walk back to work satisfied and happy. Their food is fantastically yummy, the service is friendly and fast, and all that for such a bargain price! Must order appetizer: kimchi pancake! Great for sharing, this ginormous pancake is crispy and golden with crunchy edges and a soft center filled with kimchi. It hits all the right notes for both texture and flavor! The owner suggested we pair a bottle of makgeolli with the kimchi pancake, and boy was she spot on. This rice wine is sweet, smooth, with an unexpectedly tart finish. It is so delicious and refreshing! On a cold, rainy day I love to get the soft tofu stew. It is served roiling hot in a stone bowl. A few gulps is just what you needed to warm right up from the inside out. Caution: did I mention it’s hot? I have zero patience so I probably burn my tongue every time I order this dish, but it’s still worth it! Their bibimbap is also amazing. The stone bowl is filled to the brim with so many goodies! Don’t forget to mix it up well, so every mouthful is full of wonderful and complementary flavors. But my absolute favorite is the bulgogi with sweet potato noodles. The beef is tender and perfectly seasoned. The sweet potato noodles are delightfully springy and ideal for soaking up all the delicious sauce. Oh man, add a fried egg on top and I can die happy. This is such a perfect combination. The portion size is huge too. I am always facing the dilemma of eating it all(just a little too much for the physical limitations of my stomach) or forcing myself to stop eating and pack the leftovers(basically impossible, it’s so good, you just want to eat one… more…bite…). Damn, I wish I were eating some right now. Go here!!!

Ordered the Bento Box Special — Salmon Teriyaki — Spicy Chicken Meat was cooked very well with a nice compliment of vegetables. The sauce was delicious. Best Bento I’ve had. The only reason I took a star off is because they don’t accept Amex :( EXCEPTIONAL

This place is fantastic. It’s a small space but I have no problem finding a table or a seat at the window-facing bar if it’s just myself. The folks who run it are really friendly and are doing an excellent job so far. The food is great and is really reasonable. The lunch special is $ 6.50 for a healthy amount of teriyaki, salad, and two scoops of rice. The bento box is enough food for two people, or a large meal with some leftovers for one. You get 2 fried shrimp, 4 potstickers, salad, 2 teriyaki entrees, miso soup, and a good deal of rice for ~$ 13. The quality is solid. My favorite entrée is the bibimbap, which is vegetable rich and lightly oiled and really flavorful, served in cast iron and topped with optional egg and spicy kimchi. Keep up the good work.

This is a smalll place that serves Korean /Japanese dishes. There are only 4 or 5 tables, and a few bar stools for places to sit(so not for large groups) While the food is good, the recent price increases are a let down. They took my favorite off the menu(tempura veggies) :( The rent for this tiny place must be high — as everything else is on the hill.

This place is a gem. It’s an unpretentious hole-in-the-wall with amazingly delicious Korean food served up on sizzling hot skillets. The hubs and I ordered the bulgogi with sweet potato noodles. Very flavorful and filling. We also ordered bubble teas, which were yummy. Service was prompt. Even though parking is a real drag, we will definitely be coming back. Only downside is it’s a tiny place so big groups wouldn’t really work here.

UPDATE: I found out that Bluestone double-charged me. First, they charged me $ 23 and then $ 14.52. I remember the meal costing $ 23 so I don’t know where the $ 14.52 came from. I called them and they said their credit card company messed up on processing the refund after they messed up the original transaction. It took them about 3 days to make the refund back into my account. MAINREVIEW: This Korean restaurant’s sign reminds me of a font that would be used for Wild Waves. Splish freakin splash I’m ready for the sauce. The interior features brick wallpaper, which we thought was pretty hilarious. The place looks like your typical, unpretentious teriyaki joint, but it was clean. Great, so let’s let the food separate this from the rest of the pack. Our server, Chong, was very polite, proper, and friendly. He set a good tone for the rest of the evening, and gave out recommendations for his favorite dishes. We started out with the calamari fries appetizer, which was absolutely delicious, perfectly breaded and came with a very complementary dipping sauce. For $ 7, you get a small bucket of it. For the next football game, forget KFC, there should be a 40-piece order of the calamari fries. See who yr real friends are. Chong highly recommended the chicken wings, so I’ll check those out for the next visit. For the main course, I ordered the spicy marinated pork with an add-on of sweet potato noodles. This dish came sizzling in stone pot with rice and kimchi on the side. I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t come with a variety of Korean sides like other restaurants, but I waived that disappointment once I noticed how big the dish was. Spoiler alert: it’s huge and I had to fatass my way out of the restaurant afterward. The Seattle night was colder than a friend blocking you out of nowhere. The flavors melded together like a blur. I was hoping that the sweet potato noodles would give a distinct flavor to the dish, but I think the dish would have largely tasted the same without it. The sauce was overpowering and the dish absolutely needed the rice to quell the flavor. Aside from that, the pork was well cooked and the chives and zucchini complimented the pork flavors quite well. It was spicy but not overwhelmingly so. Just chill out on the sauce, Bluestone. I’ll come back next time to try the bibimbap. Strong 2 to a Light 3

My first impression when looking at the menu was that it was a bit of a strange Korean place. They had a couple sushi rolls offered as well, and then the Korean menu itself seemed a bit limited. The seating is very limited in the restaurant, and we had to get pretty cozy with the next table. We ordered the tofu soup with chicken/beef/pork and spicy marinated pork(bulgogi). I wasn’t sure what the portion sizes were going to be like, and was originally wondering if I would need more food. One thing that I noticed is that there isn’t any banchan apart from some kimchi with your entrée. Usually I fill myself up on banchan if the entrée isn’t enough, but when the food arrived it definitely looked like it would be enough. I got the sweet potato noodles with the bulgogi and it was a very large place of both noodles and meat. They definitely do not skimp on the meat serving size. Both tofu soup and bulgogi were fantastic and I can’t really think of any negatives to those dishes. Would definitely return to try the short ribs.

Delicious Korean food with large portions(though they don’t look huge when they come out). I’ve tried the spicy pork bibimbap, the soft tofu soup(with added pork, chicken, and beef), and the spicy marinated pork with korean sweet potato noodles. The bibimbap is quite good, lots of different veggies with crunchy rice on the bottom of the stone bowl, delicious spicy sauce on top, and a perfectly fried egg. It was enough food for two meals for me, so I was able to take half home and eat it later. The soft tofu stew was delicious. There’s a massive amount of tofu and it comes out bubbling and smelling amazing. It was slightly spicy and well balanced, and delicious. My favorite thing I’ve had here is the spicy marinated pork with korean sweet potato noodles. The noodles are perfectly coated with the sauce, and there’s quite a large amount of pork. It also comes out sizzling on a cast iron dish. The pork is fantastic. If i could only reorder one option, I’d get this. It’s best to eat this off a bowl of rice, because the rice absorbs the excess sauce. This restaurant has a decent amount of drinks on the menu, though tea is not free as it is in many asian restaurants. They were quick to refill the water. The music was Top 40s and fun. Entrees here don’t come with banchan(small dishes served at most korean restaurants) though each one does come with a small side of kimchi. The kimchi is very good, though I wish there were other small dishes as well.

I love Korean food but I get insecure about ordering at Korean food restaurants without my Korean friends to help me out. This place is easy to navigate and the food doesn’t disappoint! It’s small so don’t bring a group bigger than 4. You can order delivery via Caviar too if you are like me and love eating in pajamas:)

Bluestone is ok. For Korean food, it has a lot of competition in Seattle. I thought the bibimbap could be more flavorful, and hotter — they have no hot stone bowl option — so the dish overall was lukewarm and the egg had to be on top and fried, not raw/mixed in. The pajun just didn’t sit well with me. I LOVE pajun and it’s delicious, but I didn’t like it here — maybe because you had to choose either seafood or kimchi in it. I wasn’t feeling seafood, so I ordered the kimchi one, but kimchi isn’t very good mixed into pajun itself. 2 stars. But note that the portion sizes are HUGE, easily worth 2 – 3 meals a piece. +1 star. In terms of value, this is a great spot. But I personally was not enticed by my leftovers the next day, since they were still lackluster; I didn’t want to eat it. That rarely happens to me. It’s a small restaurant, no parking.

Continuing our«not-so-traditional» tradition of Asian food on Thanksgiving(and having not had Korean food in a while) — we found BlueStone on Unilocal after a long search for places open on Thanksgiving day ;) .We were not disappointed… Spicy Squid is seriously incredible, we ordered a few dishes(which were all delicious) — but this was by far the best! Calamari was lightly breaded and delicious, loved the Kimchi so much that I ordered some to take home! ;)…Amazing service too. We will definitely be back!

The reason it took me months to get to BlueStone is also my least favorite thing about it: it’s located on busy Olive Way, with no parking. But if you can get yourself there, you’ll find cheap lunch specials, generous portions, and friendly service inside. I’m usually indecisive with restaurant menus, but this time I knew exactly what I wanted: beef bibimbap with a fried egg($ 10). My dining companion got the spicy pork bulgogi with added broccoli($ 14). There was only one other group in the small dining area, so our food was cooked quickly and came out FIERYHOT — important for getting that tasty burned crust on the rice! The portions were quite large and neither of us finished our lunch, so we took the leftovers to go; I brought my bibimbap back to life the next day with the addition of another fried egg and it was just as good. Although it’s described as a Korean place, they also have Japanese dishes like teriyaki, katsu, and yakisoba. Lunch specials are $ 6.50 and bento boxes start at $ 12. I wish they had japchae as an entrée, but it seems to only be available as an add-on side with bulgogi. The owner served our food and chatted with us about how unexpectedly busy it was on Thanksgiving — it sounds like a lot of customers just get their food to go rather than dining in. I’d definitely come here more often for takeout if parking was easier. I’ll come back for their bento boxes and to try out the seafood pancake!

Meh. Tried a number of dishes and soups here and it was not that great. Not terrible, but not good enough for us to return. The soups and entrees were way too salty and we barely got any kimchi. They don’t give banchan and only give a tiny pinch of kimchi with each dish. The service was friendly and the food arrives fairly quickly. The space is tiny so it does get quite cramped. Beggars can’t be choosers on caphill I suppose. Strangely given the sizeable Korean population, Seattle doesn’t have many really good authentic Korean restaurants. You really have to go out to Lynnwood/Edmonds or Federal Way. Korean tofu house in the Udistrict is a better nearby option.

Located on olive right in front of starbucks. If you don’t look closely enough you’ll miss it! I think it is a family run restaurant. It used to be a teriyaki place, so it is kind of small and casual. Their menu is paper based. But those things didn’t stop me from trying! I have tried their soon du boo, spicy pork, bi bim bop, wings and seafood pancake. All were decent at most, but big in portions. They do not serve their usual appetizers at korean restaurants but they do provide kimchi, which isn’t so bad. My favorite were their pancake, spicy pork and bi bim bop! I recommend and will come back!

Great bibimbop. Hearty, fresh, hot, and large portions. Friendly, great service. 2 of us stopped in for lunch and split an order of gyoza and a pork bibimbop bowl. The service was great — really friendly guys who genuinely wanted to make sure we had a good experience — not expected at all! I think this would have been a 5 if the bowl itself had just a touch more flavor on its own before adding more sauce.

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time but it was just eh. Upon ordering, we didn’t get any of the usual Korean appetizers… boo. We started with the kimchi pancake… not bad. For my entrée, I ordered the octopus stir-fry with sweet potato noodles and a side of rice. There was way too much gochujang in the stir-fry. It made it super heavy and hard to eat much of. It was very filling and kind of clogged up my stomach. I also felt that the prices were higher than Kimchi Bistro and Korean Bamboo, despite having less food, and the variety of dishes was smaller. It’s ok but I’ll probably continue going to the other Korean spots around town instead.

Accidental and happy find. Was heading to Glo’s for lunch recently but the line was incredibly long. Suddenly I’m here and have been back twice. Calamari and spicy marinated pork dishes have been my faves so far. Friendly, impressive service. Timing for orders, check backs and offers of help with food descriptions are well above average.

Blue Stone is a very welcome addition to Capitol Hill’s restaurant scene and they make me wish I still lived in my apartment that was just a couple blocks away. From the outside, the place is very unassuming and, even as you walk in, the small dining space and piles of boxes make you feel just a little cramped. No worries though, you will soon feel right at home as the friendly staff caters to your every whim. Need help making a selection, your server will make recommendations that will pretty much guarantee a good dining experience. I was lucky enough to be here with a friend who had been before and she knew exactly what to order. We had the shrimp pancake, bulgogi, and calamari all of which was really delicious and everything seemed very fresh and well prepared. Throw in a couple sides of rice that came with the entrees and we easily had enough food for our meal and to take home as leftovers. Seriously, this was a ton of food and a great value for what they charge. I would really love to see these guys take over another location that would afford them more space and freedom to really make it their own. As it is, this is a nice, convenient spot that will do the job, but is probably better suited as a takeout restaurant rather than one that can provide a top notch dining experience. Either way, I will definitely be back for more of their delicious food.

I like that there is a relatively close place to grab some Korean grub, but I doubt it will make it onto my regular rotation or a place I would go when I really want traditional, reminds me of childhood fare. The staff is really nice and the space is laid out well. We ended up sharing a table with a rowdy and fun group of guys and then a pair of quiet ones, but it didn’t take away from the experience. Ordered tempura, sweet potato fries, scallion pancake, and bibimbop to share. Gojugang came in a squeeze bottle and wasn’t what I was hoping for. Food is great and even after a bottle of shoju came out to around $ 40. Great option when you are on the hill.

«Fast Korean and Japanese food served to your liking.» Capitol Hill can be your best option for a quick lunch. I came upon Bluestone by chance and quickly fell in love with the food and service. This establishment is conveniently located on Olive Way and directly in front of Starbucks. Bluestone is small compared to other teriyaki/Korean places that I have been to. There are both counter and table seating available and this place can quickly fill up depending on the time of the day. The menu is a mix of Japanese(bento, teriyaki) and Korean fare. Prices are reasonable and servings are proportionate. I have tried the Korean pancake, beef bibimbap, and kimchi fried rice with tofu. The pancake was crispy and tasty. The beef bibimbap was served sizzling in a hot stone pot with a side of kimchi and a perfectly cooked egg as a topping. The kimchi fried rice with tofu was delightful, well-seasoned and had a balance of savory and spice. This place is one of my favorite spots for a quick Korean lunch. Great food, fantastic service, and good prices.

They are really nice here. When you arrive it is a bit confusing. Wasn’t sure if I was supposed to order at the counter or wait to be seated. If you plan to dine in, just grab a seat. Been here twice this week! A few days ago I got the bibimbap with pork and a taro bubble tea. No complaints there. Was absolutely delicious. It was a big bowl and I killed it. Loved how the rice crisps on the hot stone bowl. Second time around I tried the spicy pork as a take out. Not sure if it would have come in a stone bowl if I were to eat it there, but it was still delicious and spicy! My mouth was on fire! I love that they had little sriracha packets too. The kimchi has been on point both times.

Magic, just magic. Walking past my old apartment I noticed a few small changes to the neighborhood. Wanting to know what Bluestone was, I looked it up on Unilocal and found out it was a Korean restaurant with a perfect Unilocal rating. I made it a point to visit ASAP and ended up eating here two days in a row. Day 1: Just Bibimbap to go. The order was awesome and I highly recommend this dish for someone wanting a little of everything in a bowl. Date 2: I came with my fiancé and we ordered half the menu. With the intention of taking home extra food for some friends later that evening, we ordered everything from the green onion kimchee pancake to the bulgogi, the calamari fries, and more. In fact, we ordered to much that the gal(who I presume to be one of the owners?) laughed and suggested we sit at a larger table because we ordered so much. So we did and for the next 20 mins or so we got all of our dishes served fresh and piping hot. Food comes out of the kitchen fresh and fast! Everything was absolutely perfect. My fiancé was ‘oohing and ahhig’ at every bite and we happily ate when we could and packed the rest to go. The portions are generous for the price and the quality of meats and veggies is great. Definitely a new favorite spot!

Yay! more Korean food on Cap Hill! I am so happy there is yet another new Korean place to open on the hill. For some time there was a dearth of Korean joints in the area which I always thought was strange. Blue Stone has a pretty darn good bibimbap that I usually go for! The stone bowl is piping hot so you get can get a nice crispy rice layer on the bottom! yum! You can also get brown rice if you need that extra fiber! I also tried the tofu soup and the green scallion pancake but I think the bibimbap was the way to go. Still would like to try the bulgogi though! Space is really small but the folks who work there are really nice which gives them an extra half star in my book! prices are very reasonable as well! due to the small kitchen and fairly small staff your food does not come out quickly so be patient!
