I love Bergman Luggage! Our family has been giving this great luggage for a college graduation gift for 3 generations of Seattlites and I cannot see that tradition changing anytime soon. We haven’t had a problem w/anything we’ve purchased so I cannot speak to returning an item. However, for so many pieces purchased let’s just say we expect the best and receive it as well.

Today, I was on the hunt for a cross body bag. After trying several stores, I stopped at Bergman Luggage. They had almost exactly what I was looking for, and I bought it. When I got home, I had a bit of buyer’s remorse about the price. I went online, found the exact item I had purchased on both the manufacter’s website and on Amazon. Bergman’s price was even less than Amazon’s! Needless to say, I’m a happy camper! The salesman was very helpful and knowledgable as well.

The absolute worst customer service and luggage store I’ve ever dealt with. They make promises of guaranteed cost protection and when you actually call them out on it they refuse to honor it and make up ridiculous excuses why they can’t!!! Totally unacceptable. I would definitely shop around and find another luggage store you will never be satisfied with these guys.

I have spent more that a $ 1000.00 at Bergman Luggage. Probably closer to $ 2000.00. Recently, I was on a trip to Chicago with my piece of expensive luggage that has wheels and fits in the overhead compartment. Previous to this trip, I have only used it three times. As I picked it up to put it in the overhead, the handle on the top of the case broke. I was miffed, but I still had the use of the handle on the side. However, that handle soon broke as well. This made the use of this expensive objective very difficult and tough on my back. I took it to Bergman. They refused to stand behind it, They were not even nice about the refusal. They charged me $ 70.00 to get it repaired. Twenty-five dollars of that fee was to have the repair guy pick it up. The guy was coming from Tukwila… which is evidently a very expensive journey. Will I ever buy anything from Bergman Luggag?. No way! Will I tell everyone I can about this lousy experience? You bet!!! Do not shop at Bergman Luggage.

The good news: I love this location because it’s never crowded, knowledgeable clerks who travel, nice selection. The bad news: Not really bad, but the older woman who works weekends makes me feel uncomfortable when I’m looking around. She stares and I feel like she treats everyone like they are shoplifters. It’s not just me, some of my neighbors, co-workers and friends have experienced it as well. She’s nice to talk to but I wish she would do something else than stare when you’re trying to look at things or shop.

I would never buy another suitcase from Bergman Luggage. A few weeks ago, I bought an expensive suitcase and took it on one trip. Before I even got to the airport, 2 of the 4 zippers broke and by the time I got home, the hardware on one of the other zippers fell off making it impossible to even open it. I took it back and they wouldn’t either give me my money back or a store credit. They were rude and not helpful at all. I promptly took it over to the Goodwill.

Customer service gets 5 stars! My Rick Steves’ travel wallet broke after a single trip out of the country(don’t get excited — it was Canada). The folks here exchanged it no problem, no paperwork, no receipt. I just grabbed one off the wall, they said ok, and I walked out of the store! Ok, I did not walk straight out of the store, because I felt like I should at least look around and see if there was anything I might buy. I do not need luggage, so no luck there. But they do have a good representative selection and lots of other travel products, and even lots of other non-luggage bags. The only reason for the missing star is they are kinda far away, and I have no need for expensive carrying receptacles.
