Beard Papa’s cream puffs are good, but not the best. I find the sweet, vanilla custard to be a bit underwhelming, but that still doesn’t stop me from occasionally stopping by to inhale 1,000 calories here when I’m at Uwajimaya. The best part about these cream puffs is that they’re filled to order(you pick a cream puff and a filling) and they fill these pretty cream puffs generously. They always seem to be out of the green tea custard filling, so I have yet to try it. Try not to choke on the powdered sugar as you eat your cream puff. Also grab napkins, you’ll need it.

Beard Papa’s custard is pretty good. It’s not too buttery or eggy. It’s not cloyingly sweet, either. It has a smooth texture and a light taste that is popular in Asian bakeries. They pride themselves on making fresh cream puffs. That said, choux pastry by itself always taste like cardboard to me. Unless you like it that way, do not eat it «fresh.» Let the cream puffs rest for a few hours after they’re filled. The choux shell will absorb moisture and flavor from the custard. It will be soft, pillowy, and delicious.

I totally regret not coming here the past 6, 7 years or whenever they opened because the custards are delicious! Granted, I did only try their October special of pumpkin caramel custard cream but it was very yummy and I can’t wait to go back and try their other recipes(:

I have been here a handful of times as well as southcenter before that location closed. I ordered a chocolate fondant cake to share between my sister and I and it was really good. It was not a true lava cake as the filling didn’t exactly spill out but it was a warm chocolate dessert that hit the spot.

What a disappointment :(I tried the original and the cookie puff, both with vanilla custard. The original tasted like burnt toast. And the custard had zero flavor. I couldn’t even taste the vanilla! I love cream puffs and these were not good at all. Sad because I always wanted to try this place! For 2 cream puffs for $ 6. I will pass on these next time. So overpriced!

I bought 3 of their bigger and expensive cream puffs(Paris a la Brest) and the worker would not allow me have it in their little paper box. When she said I couldn’t, she quickly turned away to avoid me. Last time I got a box for just 2 creampuffs. I saw they had quite a stack of boxes too, and I tipped her beforehand as well. It was a huge bummer to me because the cream puffs are so expensive for what they are, and I have a long commute on the bus to take them on and wanted to protect them.

Have had Beard Papa’s in Asia and NYC and this location does not disappoint. Saw a Groupon available for this location so I purchased it and went. Their green tea filled cream puffs are divine! I think however many I buy, I cant eat them just fine. Service is hit or miss, there is one girl who is super friendly and nice and another who is just indifferent to whatever is going on. Overall, its a quick transaction to get great cream puffs so by all means stop here and grab a few and find out what you’re missing.

Well, so much for the hype. Their cream puff is good — not great, but just ok. We ordered the mini ones, choco and regular custard innards. The smell of fried/hot oil turns me off.

The wife had a groupon, we found ourselves in Seattle with time to spend so we went to find this place. Parked at pioneer square before figuring out where it was… a nice evening for a stroll by the missions… I’ll assume they will be great or update this review when I sample later.

I always walk pass this place when I’m in Chinatown and barely see anyone over at there ordering or at the counter. So when I saw a deal on groupon, I thought why not give it a try. The deal on groupon is probably over by now but it was a dozen for $ 12 – 14 for their regular cream puffs, original price would have been about $ 30. While placing my order at the counter was easy and fast the service atmosphere wasn’t a friendly atmosphere. It felt as a «ok, let’s get it over with» kind of feeling. Overall, the cream puffs were the best I had in awhile but the customer service wasn’t the best. As for the price, it’s pretty pricey not unless you have a deal. I will return but not anytime soon. Maybe when there’s another deal going on.

Very disappointed in their marketing because their image of their molten green tea matcha cake was deceiving. Bought it for $ 3 expecting the green tea custard to melt out of the cake but instead it was a solid cake. Will not be back. It didn’t event taste good either…

Cream puffs with a variety of fillings other than custard :) The pastry«shell» was already baked. The filling is inserted as you ordered. The size is bigger than your normal cream puff so the cost is a little bit more. The filling is creamy an tasty!

So their service is a 1 star at most but the cream puffs at this location get 4 stars. I had only visited the Beard Papa in Vancouver before this but decided to deal with the Uwajimaya madness on a Friday to get some Paris Brest. I had a BOGO that said buy 1 «MENUITEM» and get 1 free but the lady at the counter was very rude and said I could only get the plain cream puff and nothing else with the coupon. I mentioned that the coupon said any menu item and she still said no. Even once I agreed and got the cream puff, she was absolutely rude the entire time(not a single smile and some rude sighs). That being said, their cream puffs here are good — not great, but good. Theirs weren’t quite as good as the ones in Vancouver but they were still good. All in all, don’t think I’ll be going back to them much.

The best cream puffs I had! I had doubts at first about this place(probably because of the price) but once I tried it, I fell in love! These aren’t your ordinary, frozen in a huge batch from Costco cream puffs. The puff is crunchy on the outside, light on the inside and the vanilla custard is just right. I do wish that they had different types of fillings(I just saw that they have a green tea filling — that sounds so yummy). Or maybe I just don’t get there at the right time? I always try to stop here when I’m go to uwajimaya. It’s so good, I sometimes hate sharing with my hubby lol.

If you love cream puffs, you gotta love the cream. These cream puffs are the size of your fist. Plenty of cream inside and just the good amount of sweetness. I have tried the original and the matcha cream puffs, but the matcha cream puffs are more appealing to me and the one that I would buy again to snack on. The price is pretty reasonable for its size. You can find this place inside Uwajimaya where the food court is.

Your normal Beard Papa’s! Always good. Conveniently located in the Uwajimaya food court, so I fell to temptation while munching away at my lunch. I haven’t been to a Beard Papa’s in a while, so it seems like this place had more options than I remember! Mini cream puffs, various new flavors, etc. Anyways, I got myself a green team cream puff and it was glorious!

Attempted to get a healthier alternative to coffee and got the earl grey milk tea. Pretty good, it’s too bad they don’t have any texture to go with it. Egg pudding would have been amazing. I’ll have to try their bon bons the next time I go. There is a minimum charge of $ 0.25 for any transaction under $ 5.00 so just be aware of that if you only have a card. But hey, I’ve worked in small business before, don’t blame the store, blame the credit card companies.

Like many things Japanese, such as animé and Hello Kitty, I can’t for the life of me figure out why BEARDPAPA’S. And as a former OCD English Lit major, the fact that the name of the store has two nouns next to each other instead of one adjective and one noun — BEARDEDPAPA’S perhaps? — bothers the living daylights out of me. Boyfriend had this coupon, as he thought the name of the place was great and he loves cream puffs(though if you ask him he’ll tell you I’m the one who loves ‘em). Anyhoo, he got 26 puffy concoctions dusted off with icing sugar(you get a choice of green tea icing sugar and another which looks like peanut icing sugar, though with the coupon we’re stuck with the basic) — which come in this yellow hand carry thing. The only explanation I have for the name of the store is that the cream puffs kind of resemble a bearded grandpa, although this fact is a detriment and not a plus to the business. The puffs themselves are large, the size of the palm of my hand, and the cream mixture is quite eggy. Frankly, I don’t think much of cream puffs nor these cream puffs in particular but am giving 3 stars as I love the name so much. This chain is popular in Asia and originates from Japan, although BEARDPAPA himself looks like he just crawled out from behind a dumpster in Belltown.

Beard Papa’s offers me a consistent, quick, reliable cream puff. Located inside the food court at Uwajimaya, it’s always great for a little snack. Cream puffs. I love them! The light, flaky pastry. The sweet, vanilla custard. Give me a moment… okay. I’m drawn to them like a moth to a flame. My absolute favorite cream puff is topped with chocolate and mini marshmallows and filled with chocolate cream. Heavenly! If you want to share, you can buy a cup of mini cream puffs. Walk right up to the counter, pick your puff, and pick your cream. Pay for your treat then move on to the other side of the counter. The luscious pastry will be filled before your eyes and topped with powdered sugar. Yum!
