This is just a place in a food court(quick lunch bites etc), so I probably should adjust my rating. Anyway, so I gave it a try yesterday and suffered food poisoning as a result. Service was okay. Maybe I ordered a wrong dish…

Honestly this is one of my favorite places to go! It may be in a food court but the people who run this little slice of heaven are so kind and polite!!! My partner always gets the katsu chicken and noodle soup, with side kimchi, and I get the special which honestly doesn’t change but I freaking love the savory teriyaki flavor and love the ice cold water they always serve. The selection of sodas are awesome!!! Personally I wish this was a stand a lone restaurant but the selection of food choices are awesome. Get there early so you can sit inside the café on the chairs inside to avoid the cafeteria like lunch experience.

The K&K combo here is legit. Fresh chicken katsu, succulent kalua pork, and delicious macaroni salad. Not sure if you Seattle folks are spoiled with excellent Hawaiian food, but this stuff knocked the California chains out of the water with freshness, taste, and portions(looking at you, L&L). Highly recommended for a quick, awesome bite after spending time at the bookstore. Would be a frequent customer if I lived over here!

We wanted to grab a quick bite after getting some groceries. We ordered the loco moco and spam musubi. The spam musubi had ALOT of rice in it and it is definitely a lot pricier than what I’m used to. But overall the flavoring was there. I wasn’t a huge fan of the loco moco. The meat was on the dry side and a bit chewy. The macaroni salad was delicious though. The place is a bit pricey but they do give you huge portions. I’m sure there are better places to get Hawaiian food but if you want to grab a quick bite after doing your groceries, this place will do.

Yes it’s in a food court and yes there are so many other choices. But the food here is pretty good. I ordered the loco moco. I wanted my egg over hard and the lady made sure and even showed me and asked if it was cooked enough. Though I have to be fair the patty is a little on the dry side but not bad. However my friend katsu and teriyaki combo was great! Love the sauce. And the lady is super nice and friendly.

Best place to get kalua pig, the k&k combo(kalua pick and chicken katsu) or a loco moco in the International District. People may say that Marination Station has better«Hawaiian» food, but that’s a food truck that comes by once a week and is a fusion which I will add a review about later. Anyhow, I dont ever order the teriyaki stuff so I cant speak to it, but the 3 dishes I do order above are very good. I usually only go for lunch since it’s right across the street from my office and surprisingly the waits aren’t long. I want to say I go there once or twice every 2 weeks which is a lot for me since I usually take food from home.

There was a 15-minute wait for my $ 7 loco moco, and the first bite I took told me why: they were cooking my burger patty forever! I don’t remember ever having a patty as hard and dry as this one was in a restaurant setting. I have mediocre kitchen skills, and I can do a much better job with a patty. Macaroni salad was flat. I know it’s not supposed to be too boldly flavored, but I couldn’t even taste a hint of salt, pepper, or celery in this one. Gravy could also use more thickener and seasoning. My boyfriend had the spicy chicken teriyaki, which was also $ 7, and it was just the ordinary chicken teriyaki at your average Chinese fast food joint but with a little more chili sauce. But hey, it’s super-cheap. Cashier lady was nice and cheerful.

They have musubi!!! The cashier was very friendly and aware of anything you’d need before you’d ask for it. Nice little stop at the Asian market. Chicken Katsuya was good and they offer lunch combo specials that aren delish:)

You can call this Hawaiian food, but you could have called this anything else and it wouldn’t have made a difference. This is food court food before it is anything else, and it is very much like any other teriyaki restaurant you could find. There may be a hint of Hawaiian flavor to Aloha Plates, but I would never know the difference. I ordered the seafood combo($ 9.85), and it consisted of some deep-fried shrimp, short ribs, white rice, salad, tartar sauce, and a slice of lemon. Really it wasn’t bad, but I also ordered a spam musubi($ 4.95), and that in addition to the deep-fried shrimp probably added a lot of unnecessary calories to my diet. The food honestly isn’t bad; it just isn’t anything special for being in the food court of a renowned supermarket. And need I point out that this is in a district where excellent food is abundant? The location is only convenient if you happen to be already shopping at Uwajimaya, and you’re not really saving a few bucks by eating here…

It’s just… okay really. Chicken teriyaki tasted like something I could make at home and katsu was very thin. Good portion though for the price.

i reeeeally wanted to like it since its so close to work. went back a few times and tried different things. everything was lackluster. the food is on the bland side. the last dish i tried was the moco loco, which was horrid. the gravy was completely unseasoned and the egg had runny egg whites, which really grosses me out. if you try the place, please take heed – DONOTDRINKTHEIRWATER. its really… really nasty. ugh. i hate leaving bad reviews, but i was completely unimpressed by this place.

For a little spot inside of a store their food is just so good! My bf and I have eaten here quite a few times and haven’t been disappointed yet. I order many different things just to give them all a try. My bf always orders the seafood combo with just rice and no cabbage. He’s in love. I try all the different items out. Recently I had the nori wrapped ahi. So yummy! Perfectly crunchy and flavorful! Great lunch place. If you’re hanging out inside of Uwajimaya, give them a taste.

KALUAPORKOBSESSION All I know is that to me You look like you’re lots of fun Open up your loving arms I want some, want some Outside dining in the ID today at Hot Rocks, so grab some local food and Come As You Are. I Set MySights on You, Kalua Pork, And No One Else Will Do! Line was quick, one ordering before me. My food was just assembly line snapped together and ready before I was done taking pictures. I didn’t get to see the to-go bag packaged, so I asked«Is everything in the bag?» «Yes.» I pause thinking about my Taco Time order a few days ago. «TRUSTME!» She cries. «OK, I Trust You!» Whatever. no soy sauce for my white rice, no spicy sauce to change the flavor profile, and a plastic fork when I prefer chopsticks. Walked over to Hot Rocks to join the PLC2 dinners and surveyed the haul. Ton-o-Food, $ 9.05 tax incl. They don’t over rice like they used to, just a nice ice cream scoop ball, another of some really good Mac salad(a touch to soft) and a glorious pile of Kalua shredded pork, sopping over a layer of cabbage. If it’s done right, not too dry, you’ll have a nice pool of juice in a corner. Dip the meat in there as you go. Yummy. My portion felt like 2#, too much to eat for lunch, but I did it anyways. This is on the salty side, so I had my Almond Snow from Oasis to wash it all down. Really 3.5 stars especially considering this is coming from a food court(Uwajimaya’s).

Cheap and filling, what can I say? This place is located in the International District Uwajimaya’s food court. I didn’t get the cheapest option, which was chicken katsu + teriyaki chicken, because that would be just too much chicken. I got the short ribs + seafood special and a can of passionfruit juice. It came out to be $ 11 something for both. My order came out fairly quickly, like in 5 minutes or so. Mmm. the short ribs were good, the macaroni was good, the shrimp was good, and the fish was decent. I would totally come back here.

Came in expecting decent cheap food, got that in the form of a teriyaki dish coupled with canned juice. Generous portion. Made a return visit and tried a different one. Service was punctual and friendly, and for the price of around a tenner, I felt it was fair. Limited seating chairs, but that’s to be expected at this food court location — and there are other tables along the main«road» stroll.

I’ve been here multiple times throughout the years and sadly I am disappointed every time I go. I would suggest that no one ever gets the spam musubi from here. It has absolutely no flavor, other than burnt seaweed. Every time I eat here, the chicken katsu makes me sick. Not sure what it is, but it just doesn’t sit well with my stomach. The short ribs are enjoyable and I don’t mind the macaroni salad, but I’ve had too many bad experiences here. I have to stop giving them chance after chance. =\

I work on 5th and Columbia and I make the trek to Chinatown maybe twice a week just to eat here. I always get he K&K combo with an extra egg on top. It tastes great and is always consistent for me. The portions are good for the price and they make it quick. The mac salad is delicious, all the other Hawaiian spots are way too salty. I would recommend this place if you are in the area. A quick update: If the older Korean lady is cashiering, ask her to confirm your order to you and make sure the register is zero’d out on the screen from previous orders. She over charged me $ 13 and voided it once I noticed it. But she already charged my card and still charged me again for the correct order and that the first amount will be refunded to my account soon. So I was charged $ 22 that day which really irritated me. Also, she doesn’t really understand my orders for whatever reason in general which is also annoying. I won’t dock a star because every other worker/owners are great and the food is good. It’s just this one lady. But if the filipino looking cashier is working, you got nothing to worry about. She’s a champ!

I work just across the street, so the food court at Uwajimaya is my go-to when I’m in a hurry. As long as you calibrate your expectations for food-court food, you’ll be just fine. If I actually bothered to check in every time I came here, I’d have dozens more. I end up at Aloha Plates somewhat more often than any of the other food vendors. Good food at good prices, served quickly. The woman at the front counter is a bit tough to understand due to a pretty thick accent, but we get things worked out OK. It’s located about midway in the food court at Uwajimaya. Some of the menu is Hawaiian, the rest is random Asian stuff. I think your salad choices are green, macaroni and kimchi, if that says anything to you. I can’t think of many other Hawaiian places around, so this a decent choice.

There are a few places you can count on in the food court of Uwajimaya and this place is one of them. Their menu is simple Hawaiian comfort food served with an ungodly amount of rice(white or brown) and your choice of green salad or macaroni salad, the latter being the more popular choice. You can easily split a combination plate with another person or have enough leftovers for another full meal many, MANY hours later. I suggest the K&K Combo with the Kalua Pork* and Katsu chicken, brown rice + macaroni salad. On another visit, we ordered the Kalua Pork* on its own with the steamed cabbage. When it’s dreary out, my boyfriend orders(and enjoyed) their saimin with chicken katsu. And I confess to have succumbed to the craving of Spam, scrambled eggs and rice — a true Filipino comfort food! They have free samples of their chicken katsu and teriyaki chicken, sometimes they also have small wedges of their fried banana. I’ve had friends order both of those items after trying them and they were pleased with their food. If they still do their punch card, go ahead and start one. Don’t forget to have them validate your parking ticket. They’ll usually do two hours for you even if you are under the $ 15.00 mark. *Usually QUITE salty, drink ample water during consumption. Or choose from one of the many chilled Hawaiian Sun varieties available for purchase.
