Best cheap, stiff drinks in Greenwood. Karaōke draws, em in on Friday and Saturday at 9PM. Of course pricing goes up. This place has been here for years… Hasn’t changed much.

I stopped in for lunch and ordered a bacon cheeseburger! Definitely a fantastic burger like I make at home. Juicy and dripping down my hand! Great service. Carol has it going on!

It was early on Easter, I was taking a walk I was jetlagged and woke with the cry of the cock I needed a cure to my feeling of worn But place after place were shut for the morn Then I passed by a restaurant called Baranof With a neon sign that said, «Don’t run off! We’re open and serving breakfast all day! And if you don’t stay today, we’re always that way!» This dive bar was just what a weary soul needed So to the sign’s beckoning call, I heeded At the crack of dawn, the drinks were already flowing And everyone present was someone worth knowing I ordered an omelette with six eggs inside I could only fit three but it was a delight It was covered in cheese and topped some hash browns With strong and black coffee that I guzzled down Should ever you wander in Greenwood alone Or, heck, with some friends on an evening unknown Pick Baranof for breakfast or booze With both on the menu, you really can’t lose

This is the only true dive bar I’ve found in Seattle yet. Reasonably priced drink, casual atmosphere, and a unique mix of characters(including a guy dressed in an Elvis suit!) The Karaōke was a blast. There was a birthday so it was decked out for an 80’s night. There was room for dancing while listening to karaōke tunes. The ambience was divey and fun, with fish painted walls. Overall good drinks, nice people. A fun spot!

I have been to this dive so many times. But mostly for breakfast. But I hadn’t been back in a couple years and I was walking by hungry about noon on Sunday so I popped in for a late breakfast. I quit drinking there years ago because their shelf booze is so god awful and the drinks are always burnt.overpoured. Yeah they are cheap but they’re hard to choke down and if you have more than two they will definitely pay you back for their cheapness in the morning. Because of this you gotta say that the crowd is not the best. Its mostly over-50 drunks and burnouts. In other words a hard core of regulars. I learned a long time ago to kiss the bartenders’- I should say barmaid’s– and waitresses’ ass because otherwise they will ignore you while they drink not-so-discreetly. Or make not-so-secret snarky remarks. It helps if you bring cash and leave the change sitting by your drink while you drink it. Then they have a hope of getting a tip from you, which is always questionable with that crowd. But don’t leave cash and go to the bathroom. That would just be foolish. Did I mention the sketchy crowd? And don’t expect your tips to get you too far. You will get a drink and a «Hows it going?» The answer is «Good.» Don’t elaborate. They aren’t asking for real. But occasionally I still go in for a drink just BECAUSE of the slight edge of hostility /fake friendliness that you have to walk the line to enjoy. It’s the kind of sketchiness you might find in a bar in an old Sam Spade novel. One that he walks in to question a snitch or suspect and everybody pretends they don’t know anything. But I am not so far gone as to consider that they can make anything more than just a straight hard pop. With the exception of a Bloody Mary. They have lots of experience with Bloody Marys. And you can order a red beer and they don’t raise their eyebrows and ask you what it is. Or hand you some kind of craft amber. Red beer is a regular beer with about 2 ounces of tomato juice. That’s it. Hangover juice. So why give it 3 stars? I gave it 3 stars because of the food. Food wise it should really be 4 stars. Classic American diner food. Its always cooked well, comes fast and the portions and the prices are great. The only thing I was disappointed about in my breakfast order– two eggs, hash browns, toast and ham– Hey I hadn’t eaten since dinner the night before! Don’t judge me… or my ass– was they have changed the ham to some overly chemically smoke taste pressed product. They used to have a nice quality ham. I don’t know where they got it but they don’t get it anymore. Oh yeah — I did have to wave my arms to drag the waitress out from behind where she was pretending she didn’t see me. She also pretended that she didn’t hear me say hot tea and she brought me iced tea, then looked at me like she was daring me to correct my order. I was so starving I just let it go. And no, she never came by to check on me to see if I needed anything. I had to borrow ketchup from the neighboring diners, who rolled their eyes about the waitress non-service in a comradely way while wolfing their French dip and burgers and fries. Even so, yes I will probably go back there for breakfast again-or a french dip– and maybe a Bloody Mary as long as I order brand vodka. It’s worth it to be served a decent meal quickly that’s cooked right at a decent price. There is one advantage — the waitresses KNOW they range from spoiled to surly so there’s never a need to overtip. 10% and you’re out of there. Nice and full.

This place needs to be shut down!!! Where is the liquor control board when you need them. Absolute over service and tons of violent fights. This is not a safe place to go. I am sure that those that gave this shit hole five stars got paid to do it because this place is seriously dangerous. A fair warning to all, stay away. This place has had various complaints made to the liquor control board over the years yet it still remains open, it’s just shocking. STAYAWAY!

So sad the clam chowder retired with the previous cooks. HAPPYHOUR drinks are still GODDAMNHAPPY. And its super clean for how it looks like a dive. I love that. Good place to watch football.

One of my favorite dives in the city, cheap/strong drinks, a mixed crowd out young and old degenerates, jello shots… Great place to take a 1st date, if she likes it, she’s a keeper(mine did).

My boyfriend loves that this is in between our house and Seattle and has long hours that allow you to drink alcoholic beverages in the early morning on all days of the week. This was very convenient for him when he was working graveyard shift and wanted a place to stop for a drink after work. I am always amazed at how crowded it is in the back bar, while the front is always empty. It has a unique themed look to it and the drinks are strong and cheap. From the front door I would never suspect that this was actually a happening bar rather than a run of the mill diner. I don’t love the food or the bloody marys, but I am sure most people come here for the strong pours. On a weekend night this place is also crowded, usually with a younger crowd then you find in the mornings. Service can be slow and it can be a bit loud if you already have a hangover. Beware the bathroom doors are super short and when you stand up you see the other people waiting in line, definitely not a bathroom for privacy, but maybe this discourages drug use.

Classic dive bar with dive bar prices in an unassuming location. No posers here, which is a good thing.

Incredibly rude older lady bartender. Not quite sure why she is so bitter, but she should leave the attitude at home. Myself and all of my friends will not be returning.

Decent karaōke and really cheap drinks. Love the nautical theme. Called and asked about the bathroom being wheelchair accessible and it was most definitely NOT. Door was too small to even get a wheelchair into and there no stall large enough.

Five stars for consistent diner food and great service. Great waitresses… my favorite is Marietta. She has worked there for more than 20 years. Not stuffy at all. Stiff drinks. changing population. This used to be the working man’s bar… now it has a younger crown in the evenings.

Great place for breakfast — served all day! Great food! Pancakes are fluffy, chicken fried steak is awesome, steak and eggs was flavorful and tender. Big portions, small prices, and enough places to sit that you don’t have to wait for a table.

this place has me conflicted. I have been to Baranof 6 or so times, all for the same reason. the food is amazing. I will likely return and be happy with the food. this is the incredible downfall though.. .. the old waitress that seems to always be there, is awful. she does her job in such a manor that I believe she knows she cant be fired. Its my understanding that she has worked there«forever» and she is just as much a part of the experience as the things on the wall. I refuse to not tell others at this point though. I would rather order my food directly from the cook. she acts like she doesn’t care to be there. she doesn’t return to ask how your’e doing or if you need anything. the last couple times she didn’t even get the drink orders or refill them.(it really was not busy, there was no reason for someone else to have to do that) she tried(without asking) to take my plate while i was still eating the food on it. then when i was done.. . she blatantly ignored my request to take said plate. I’ve never seen her smile. including the first time I was served by her, at which time i tipped her rather well(because i had assumed she was having a bad morning, and hoped that would better her day). she is just careless and almost outwardly rude. If this place wants new customers to be repeat business they need to do something about this.

Had breakfast at noon on Sunday. Shut your mouth bitches. This is the real deal. Comfort food at its best. Great dive bar, old school décor, great chicken fried steak and Reubens. Just eat it and shut up.

Holy amazing people watching dive bar! The bartender is usually more intoxicated than you already are. Stiffest drinks in town for sure, and let’s not forget about the Jell-O shots. Yea, it’s that kind of dive bar. The best part… The terrible karaōke that you just can’t get enough of. This is a place to stop in at the end of your night. Make sure to bring your own popcorn for the shit show.

My favorite bar in all of Seattle. It is most certainly a dive but has all the best, most endearing dive qualities. The bartenders are not very friendly(if you’re a newbie), the karoake is rocking & the drinks are stiff! This place does get packed & the karoake/seats can fill up. I swear everytime I’m here there is a costume party of some sort! This is the place you come for a memorable, drunk night or epic stories for the next morning.
