We had the plan to grab a drink with friends and they took us here to «Rickshaw». I don’t think I would have come to this place on my own, because it looks more like a place you just drive by but don’t go in. But I was happy that we went, because we had a really fun night! You can park your car just behind the building, so no stress with that. They had a drink special that evening and so we ordered many! The asian food they cook there is pretty sure not the best and most authentic you can find in this city, but it tasted good and we were satisfied. Our waitress was friendly and everything we ordered arrived quick at our table. They also have regular karaōke going on and some of the singers really weren’t that bad! Maybe next time we’ll grab the mic to give it a try too ;)
Super A.

Best atmosphere for a bar where you need to get a drink ANYTIME! Food is good, drinks are better and the bartenders are the best! Cheers to Feeva, Leeron!

I have never eaten here but received a Val-Pak coupon and decided to give it a try. Admittedly I was hesitant because it did seem a bit of a divey restaurant. However, I was somewhat positively surprised. While I was initially a little off-put because of the«old» smell when I walked in, it was relatively clean and nice — not beat up — brand new menus and a decent ambiance despite the kind of odd elongated lay-out. The food actually turned out to pretty good — seemed clean, fresh and well prepared. I had the Almond Fried Chicken — and enjoying my left-overs. As so often there is a little extra breading and a bit of cartlidge but was prepared reasonably well and tasted decent. I had the Mo-Shu Vegetarian — great pile of vegetables. This tasted actually pretty good — though I am no expert. However, I did notice a bit of gastric discomfort related to this plate — not sure if in sauce or vegetables entirely but when I had the vegetables alone later I noticed it albeit less. I ended up throwing the remainder out. I do note that I tend to be a little sensitive so the cask iron stomach guys won’t have a problem. I received a very good portion of food for the cost. Oh, one little thing — the well gin kinda — sucked but the waitress gave me credit on that and re-poured a G&T with Hendricks and that was fine. Service was very good. Despite a kind of sketchy review, I will return and try some other meals to see what happens.

Sadly, the Rickshaw appears to be losing steam. I ordered the lunch special and it looked like the appetizer/lunch special. It was a tasty appetizer — but not what I was expecting for a lunch experience! On the plus side: good internet, lots of parking! No one is here! I will be stopped off for another meal after this one!

I love this place. Great service, good drinks, karaōke! Awesome! They can improve on the looks on the place but overall I love it.

I visit the Rickshaw regularly because of the great service and fun atmosphere. The staff is very kind and the karaōke every night is always a kick. The prices are fair and they have very high quality food and drink. I recommend this place to anyone

As you and everyone else in the city, county and state of north Seattle probably already knows: 1. Drinks are strong enough to peel paint off a wall. 2. Food is… eww. Not good. Not even when you have had a lot of paint-peeling drinks. 3. Karaōke is a blast here and people seem genuinely willing to just get up and have fun and make fools of themselves rather than«sing» as if there’s a recording agent in the bar who will discover them. So glad they survived the fire and theft and all of that.

Dark. Dive. Bar. The food isn’t supposed to be good people. Get over it(that said, the Mongolian tofu is super good). Joints like this are a dying breed and need our support. Drink, eat, make friends with some of the weirdest people you may ever encounter. If you don’t love this place, there is something wrong with you.

I would love to give these guys a 3.5 or a 3.75, but alas, halves are not an option, and they don’t quite live up to the level of a four. The best way to describe the Rickshaw? Imagine your favorite lounging shirt or sweatpants. They probably have a couple holes, perhaps some stains or rips, but you just can’t part with it. You realize it’s ugly, and you’ve had a few relationship guests try to toss it, but it’s comfortable and makes you feel warm, even though you know it should never see the light of day. That’s exactly the Rickshaw. It should never see the light of day, but it’s so comfortable and no matter how ugly and stained it may be, it’s still a go to. It’s like getting a warm hug from a plate of mediocre sweet and sour chicken. Food: meh(however happy hour prices are meh++) Drinks: stiff. You call it Thursdays!!! That shit cray. People watching: AMAZING. Put on your darkest pair of sunglasses, sit back, and soak it all in. Delivery: SUPER speedy! I think it was about 20 minutes max to get our food. Granted we’re only a few blocks away, but we’ve definitely become accustomed to delivery taking at least 90 minutes from other establishments. I can see how people would not be fans of this place. It’s not the cleanest or the most delicious, but it’s definitely the coziest.

I’ll admit it, I was pretty dubious about stopping in here with a few friends, but definitely glad they pulled me in. Can’t speak to the food but the drinks, the karaōke, service, and prices were definitely better than expected. Drinks were served with a real heavy pour, which can’t be beat. The Karaōke crowd was so inclusive and entertaining, unlike some others in town that are pretentious and bitchy – rickshaw’s team just exuded a chill, everyone’s-invited kind of vibe, which worked great for a midweek late night karaōke binge. Service was great and the prices were insanely cheap, even for a dive bar. I’m not this far north very often(least of all at night) but if I find myself in the neighborhood again, this will be on the short list for late-night drinks and entertainment.

Interesting Chinese Food/Diner/Karaōke bar. If you a late night place to do karaōke this is a decent spot, but be forewarned the list is displayed 6 deep on the monitors, so it can be hard to get on late and/or jump the line with tips.

This place is hard to rate because it’s a fun karaōke spot with great people… But the food is mediocre. If you’re ok with being served boring food that looks like it came from a box, then come here for drinks and songs! But it’s probably a bad idea to come here during the daylight hours without some drinks in you

Surprisingly this wasn’t my worst Chinese food experience, but it’s up there on my list of I’ll never eat there again. When I first walked in there was nobody around. No hostess waiting. If you venture in here, firstly know th at its a bar primarily. I waited for a bit until I finally asked the only customer sitting with her young child if she knew if they had a server. She began to laugh and told me she believed the bartender was the only one working. When someone finally came out, I was really surprised to see not a small Asian person, but a tall white lady. Should this have been my clue that eating here would be a waste of time and money. I shrugged off the feeling and ordered the shu mai, sweet and sour chicken and crab rangoon. Seriously the easiest more«Americanized» food you can’t get wrong. Oh was I wrong. My food came out smothered in sauce and dripping in oil. I don’t know what possessed me to eat some of it anyways, but I was raised in the South and manners are essential. My plan was to have lots of leftovers of delicious Chinese food, but in the end I paid my bill and walked out leaving all of my food almost completely uneaten.

I’ll paraphrase some earlier reviews while adding a bit of my own personal thoughts in regards to The Rickshaw. The Greenwood/Bitter Lake/Aurora area is obviously not lacking on sub-par Americanized Chinese Restaurants, take your pick of the litter if that is your thing. That said, The Rickshaw is a bit of a different animal. To start out with. When you visit The Rickshaw for the first time, please try to remember it is not a Chinese family restaurant that happens to have karaōke. In reality, this much more likely resembles a karaōke dive bar that just happens to serve Chinese and American entrees. In fact, if you are sitting there for any length of time, you will very likely be asked to sing karaōke. Because it is a bar, you will likely see a few neighborhood regulars. You will probably at most times see a few people outside the front patio area/entrance smoking. There is usually ample parking if you do drive. I do think they could do well to make a patio area further out or away from the entrance to make it more inviting, but it isn’t a concern of mine really. I’ve eaten there a few times and had more than my share of drinks. This being a karaōke bar, the food is obviously not something you will rave about, but I didn’t find it completely un-appetizing either. The drinks are okay. The waitress I had one a recent visit was great and very personable, and this being at a booth away from main bar area. I’ve also had overall decent service saddled up to the main bar as well. You get the feeling this place has a lot of regulars, and if you come enough you could be one too. I can see Tuesdays(half price day) and the weekends being fairly busy days, though even being there on a Thursday night in the summer it was half full of what seemed like regulars singing karaōke. I’ll go on to state, I am not steeped in the old pre-fire history of The Rickshaw some of you may read or hear about in other reviews; but since I want a decent, social, and over-all friendly neighborhood bar(that is un-like the weird un-social head stuck in phones variety you get in other areas of town) with a bit of ‘dive’ thrown in, and within walking distance of N. Greenwood area, this will fit the bill nicely. Just remember.’…nobody gets out of the place without singing the blues…’(for some reason this place reminds me of that scene in Adventures in Baby Sitting from the eighties.

The Kung Pow chicken is pretty good and delivery was fast. I also like being able to order online. The pork fried rice and pork Chow mein were far from fabulous. The sweet and sour chicken wasn’t great either.

The fact that the food here sucks has very little to do with the fact that it’s Americanized. Even if you love American Chinese food and that is exactly what you expect going in, the food here still sucks. It is simply bad food that is cooked badly. It would only be edible if you were *very* drunk. And, well, that right there is the whole story. Also, I found a big piece of broken plastic in my food.(See the pic.) Please, for the love of all that is good and righteous, do not eat here. Or, at the very least, do yourself the kindness of getting thoroughly sloshed beforehand.

I always thought the Rickshaw looked really sketchy and weird so I never went. Well I went on Halloween and it turns out it is awesome. Not all that sketchy. Well it is but it’s not horrible. It’s much better on the inside than the outside. The drinks are cheap and strong and the karaōke is really fun. Patrons seemed laid back and friendly and the bartender was great. The song selection is extensive. There was a bartender’s special– $ 4 for almost any drink including their house cocktails excluding Maker’s, Grey Goose, and a couple other top shelf liquors. I was stupid and ordered a lemonade concoction that made my teeth rattle. Others enjoyed their drinks. Can’t beat that for $ 4. Really fun night. I will be back when I’m jonesing for a divey night. We tried the chicken wings and we all agreed they were the worst wings we’d had pretty much ever. So based on that I’m not sure I’d recommend the food.

I’ve always wondered about this place since I drive by it so often… and one random night, a group of my friends decided to check it out. We were really surprised by the interior! There were mirrors all around and lots of booths and tables for people to sit at. They have karaōke here everyday which is awesome, but expect a long wait if you want the mic on the weekends. There’s a mini dance floor where people can sing and dance on if they wanted to. Their karaōke DJ or whatever they’re called was entertaining and lively! There is a $ 5 drink minimum if you want to sing though. The drinks are AWESOME! They have a bunch of specials and they’re cheap and stiff. This place is pretty much a dive bar combined into a Chinese restaurant, it reminded me of Moon Temple in Wallingford, but rowdier! Service was GREAT, our server’s name was Thu, and she’s adorable and super helpful. She checked in on us several times throughout the night. I can’t wait to come back here for more karaōke and stiff drinks. They have a huge variety of songs too, everything from Sweet Home Alabama to Usher’s Nice n’ Slow. I’ll probably stay away from the food unless I’m REALLY hungry though because I know food probably isn’t their specialty.
