Big shout outs to Ivan! He is a great worker and helped us with our order and accommodated all of our needs. The chicken was fresh out of the oven and steaming hot. I have been to KFC before, but the chicken wasn’t this freshly cooked. I will be returning here again very soon due to the customer service and food!

The service was fast and efficient, and the staff friendly(I had to go in since no one was responding at the drive thru). but the chicken was awful. Popeye’s gets tops ratings for a reason people.

They supposed to close at 10 on Sunday night, but when I got there at 9:10 pm they told me they were close. At least they should put a sign in the drive through that is close so people wouldn’t wait for 15 min waiting in line.

WORSTKFC(especially drive through) ever. Seems like they only hire the most incompetent employees here. Part of my order included 2 pot pies. There were 3 cars in front of me. It took maybe about 10 min to get to the window. I understand. It’s rush hour time and there are lots of orders coming in. At least so I think. So again, I get to the window and pay for my order. A couple minutes go by. I’m thinking, damn, they don’t have pot pies. This happens almost every time. The manager comes to the window. «We don’t have pies ready. It’s gonna take about 8 more minutes. I can give you a voucher for food at another time, get you something else or you can wait till they’re done.» I opted to wait the 8 minutes. The manager said I’ll throw in a cake. I figured ok that’s worth the wait. So I pull into the lot to wait for them to bring it out. 15 minutes later she brings my food out. At this point I just want to get home. I look in the bag and my lemonade that comes with the meal isn’t there. HOWFRIGGINHARDISITTOLOOKAT A TICKETANDMAKESUREALLORDERSAREINTHEBAG? I’m tired of having a problem w this restaurant. I’m done. I’ll drive to another place to eat next time I crave KFC.

I usually like KFC but mainly for their coleslaw. They used to have spicy and red beans and rice but since they don’t anymore I usually go to Popeyes. This KFC was closer to my place than Popeyes so since I wanted fried chicken I decided to go there instead. Usually I have no issues with KFC but this one the people are either new or kind of duh. Since their prices aren’t listed online and I didn’t fully expect to need to remember prices I didn’t bother memorizing them. Went to get a 3pc combo, crispy and said instead of a individual side I asked if I could upgrade my coleslaw to large. The person at the counter didn’t know how to change that and neither did two other people behind the counter. I’ve done it at other KFC’s as well as any other fast food place. So she said she could just charge me for two sides and give me a large, which doesn’t make sense because I’m buying a combo. So I told her to just give me a potatoes and gravy individual side to fulfill the side of the combo sand I’d just get a large side of coleslaw. Also got a 3pc tenders $ 5 fill up. Was missing the mash and gravy, still charged an individual side and missing the cookie from the fill up. I should have checked before I got home but didn’t think too hard to mess up. Hopefully IF go back to this location it will be better. Also the floors were super dirty and napkins and spill residue everywhere.

Food is terrible. The only thing thats good is the coleslaw. Ive tasted better KFC outside of the peninsula and im really shocked that SANMATEO would be this bad. The chicken that I received was re heated so the meat was not white but pale. It seems i got the piece of chicken that kept getting missed from the morning and pushed to the middle or side of the tray. I dont know what else to say about the food. And can you please get your workers to sanitize the tables and floors so that maybe the restaurant wouldn’t have that«SMELL»! It just seems like they take a towel, dip it in water and wipe the tables down with THESAMETOWEL that I just seen. At least spray it or lysol the whole thing, really lazy job. If you want people to eat here then they need to feel comfortable and that the food is safe. If you cant clean a table properly, then how can i trust you washing you hands while you’re handling food??? Come on KFC can you please step it up!

This is not for the food. It’s kfc so you know what you are getting most of the time. This rating is for the service. Just like the others. Very slow, but it seems like it’s Mathew. He is not only slow, but he is so rude and condescending. Sylvia is great and friendly and fast, but when it’s just the two of them it’s bad. I don’t know who the manager is, but the need to get say something to Mathew.

Waited 30+ minutes on a Friday night for 8 pieces of crispy. Only saving grace was Enrique who seemed to be the only person there who cares about customers. The guy who told me there would be only an 8 minute wait while they made more crispy went on break without actually doing his job and completing my order.

Pretty crappy KFC place in downtown San Mateo Pretty much everyone visiting downtown San Mateo has seen this KFC – it’s impossible to miss because everyone exiting highway 101 and going to downtown San Mateo has to pass through this place. From the outside, this place looks legit – it’s an entire little house dedicated to just ot one KFC, with it’s own parking area, and a huge KFC logo on the chimney at the roof. Don’t let the nice exterior fool you, though. The food here really, really sucks. I ordered a 2 piece chicken combo, and they told me it’s going to take 10 minutes because the grill«isn’t ready». What? Waited 10 minutes, finally got my food, and was thoroughly disappointed. The chicken pieces were Very small, and weren’t even fried! It was just warm chicken that did not have any fried exterior. The mashed potatoes looked good, but actually tasted horrible – it did not even taste like mashed potatoes at all, I couldn’t finish it. The only part of the combo that was halfway decent was the cookie – at least that tasted chocolatey and soft. They also served the chicken in some kind of huge box, on top of a paper plate. And this was for«to stay» and not«to go» orders. Talk about a huge waste of unnecessary packaging – the big box actually made the chicken look small. Why Would You Do That? Why Use the Biggest Boxes You Can Find to serve fried chicken? Why? Oy, this place sucks. Never want to go back again

Me and the ladies in the office frequent this location when we’ve exhausted all other possibilities in terms of lunch. The service is a bit on the slow side but that’s mostly due to the lunch rush hour. The cleanliness of the place is another story. Honestly, the place is kinda dirty– especially on the other side of the counter where the food is nearby. The floors are disgusting(if it’s visible dirt it should be mopped up, common sense). I also witnessed a worker stick his finger in his ear and I’m hoping he didn’t touch the food shortly thereafter…*shudder* Now I’m going to think twice about coming here… As for the food? It’s the usual KFC offerings… nothing special.

Food is as expected from KFC. What is frustrating is how often things get left out of my order. At least 2 out of 3 orders(mainly drive-thru) are missing items. Management sympathetic but don’t seem too fussed about improving the situation.

Probably the slowest and dirtiest KFC I’ve ever been to. Its only saving grace is that the food itself is just. well. it’s KFC so it’s always good, duh. Wanted a quick meal on our way from SF to SJ so made a pitstop here. Unfortunately coming to this KFC was a mistake. We waited for almost 30 minutes just to order our food and they had run out of crispy chicken. Excuse me? Luckily I like original, but the people in front of me were not pleased. Also when I went to fill up a fountain drink 50 fruit flies came out of the soda machine. One of them landed in my root beer. Being the resilient poor student that I am I just poured the drink out and refilled sans fruit fly. But seriously? Clean up a bit please.

My girlfriend and I walked in at about 8PM on Sunday. There were 2 – 3 customers in line waiting to place their orders. There was nobody at the register. We noticed a young adult(employee) sitting down in the dining area. We assumed that he was on his lunch break. While he was enjoying his meal, the other employees were attending the drive thru customers only. No one covered the register. So, we(and 3 other customers) waited in line for this kid to finish his lunch/meal break(about 5 mins. wondering WTF is happening). Here is where it gets better… The employee who was eating, making us wait, returns to the his station. My girlfriend looks at me and asks me «do you want to leave?» I was confused and did not understand why. She proceeded to tell me that this employee returned without washing his hands and started serving food before heading back to the register. The icing on the cake… She saw him licking his fingers. We promptly left.

After two years we tried this place again. Maybe last time we order something wrong. It’s just that this time was much better. We had a family size menu. For two people: we were kinda exploding. But it was worth it. Don’t expect gourmet stuffs but the food is ok(being a fast food I mean).

Service was very slow, had to wait for them to fry up chicken. While waiting I noticed that the front end of the place was VERYDIRTY! Not just from that days business, but from build up from days gone by. Can only image what the kitchen looks like, yikes! Sorry, won’t be back.

They OVERCHARGED me and didn’t even give me a receipt! I did the drive-through and it was too late to turn back before I caught the mistake. It seems like overcharging is a common complaint here. For the little amount that I ordered, I should NOT have been charged $ 23.87! Seriously, WTF? We got the 2 piece boneless combo, 3 piece white meat combo, 1 large mac and cheese, and the 3 cookies. Even with tax, it should come in a few dollars under $ 23. Even worse, the food tasted awful. The chicken skin was way too salty and the meat was so dry. It tasted and looked like it’d been sitting around for a long time. Even my soda was slightly off. I ordered a root beer and it tasted like water because it was so diluted. To be overcharged for food that doesn’t even taste good is adding insult to injury. AVOID this place, especially the drive-through. The window at the drive through also smelled funny. There was a weird smell coming from the kitchen. It smelled like a bathroom. This experience has turned me off to KFC entirely. I think I’ll stick to Popeye’s from now on.

Isn’t it easy to just press the buttons on the cash register and presto-chango my items should magically appear in my bag? That’s weird. Why is my order incorrect YET I also appear to be overcharged on my receipt? There’s nothing worse driving to KFC starving, taking it «to-go» so you can feed your family in the comfort of your own home, and then when you open the package you discover that your order is incomplete AND you’ve been overcharged. Imagine my frustration 15 miles away when I peak into the bag and discover, um, my potato wedges aren’t in here, and(looks at the receipt) they didn’t give you the coupon price after you gave them the coupon already. *Calls the manager* The manager was no better. Why was I on HOLD for such a long time. Are you really taking that long to CONFIRM that a potato wedges purchase had just been made? OMG. Yes, I’m really trying to swindle you out of a small order of potato wedges that cost $ 1.29. After many many minutes later, he confirmed, «Ok well you can come back and pick it up» and about my coupon not being applied: «You already got $ 1 off». Yes, but subtracting $ 1 does not give me the price stated on the coupon. After an almost-argument later, I was able to drive back, get my potato wedges, and get some money back. BUTBOYWASIT A HASSLE.
