A friendly, and welcoming establishment. The staff are service-​oriented and always stop to talk, and ask about my family (including my dog). The prices are low, and they have frequent drink specials. There are many places to sit: at the bar, by the windows, or by the pool table. Five HD TVs and a fantastic sound system hooked up to the jukebox round the place out.

This past Saturday (6÷18÷16) I had my 40^th birthday party at Bar America. I wanted to pay my compliments to the staff that night. I walked in at 445pm and spoke w manager on duty Michelle who was very supportive and let me decorate a table to hold till I returned about 815pm. I was able to introduce and reintroduce Bar America to 45 of my friends and they were impressed with the bar and atmosphere and expressed that they had a great time. Thank you to the wait staff and bartenders who took care of us and who played a huge part in my successful party! Thank you!

Love the makeover. Friendly staff, updated modernized décor as well as a spacious enclosed patio that features a full service bar. The bar selection has also been expanded and includes a decent number of liquors and craft beers on tap. The atmosphere is enjoyable and consistently attracts a fun and diverse crowd. A bar for the locals in a touristy area without the outrageous drink prices. Definitely worth checking out!

I really liked this bar.
Service is one of the main things when you go out and having great service at a bar along with great prices is a win for me.
This place is dog friendly! How cool. I def need to bring my dog back. A nice spot where you can relax with friends, play some darts or pool.
Also, it’s really clean. I went on a Saturday and they had plenty of staff and the crowd was not at all crazy. It was a mix between college, couples, older crowd and miscellaneous. Also, there was no cover when I went.

I love this place for the following reasons:
1. The beers are CHEAP! Finally, a bar that has embraced the concept of reasonable prices. Thank you, Bar America :-)
2. This spot is dog friendly. Another big thanks for recognizing that man’s best friend is a great bar companion. Well done!
3. The bartenders are friendly and efficient (special appreciation for Monica’s chronic smile!). They’ll serve you in the fastest possible manner; they hustle on the weekends!
4. Did I mention that they are dog friendly? always a major plus in my book :-)

The bartender’s are friendly. The drinks are real good. The long island is big and definitely affordable.

GET THE RASPA DRINK. So my boyfriend and I came for happy hour and I saw that they had a raspa drink for $ 4. I asked the bartender what it was and I was extremely intrigued. Big red, pickle juice, and Malibu rimmed with chamoy and salt/​chili. SO GOOD. That was yesterday and I’m here again so needless to say, it was great. The service and atmosphere is great! They have plenty of seating inside, an outdoor patio, and a pool table & dart board. Awesome place!

Went in here on a Saturday at 8 to watch some games, didn’t get packed till like 10. Drinks were consistent, and reasonably priced; $ 6 jack and Coke, I think. Bartenders were really nice and made me comfortable when the place was dead till some more patrons came. Awesome place to drink and watch games if you ask me. –1 because the dj’s music put me back in 2010. Although, it felt like he was just catering to the regulars, so maybe it’s totally not his fault. But c’man man, it’s 2015! 2016, by the time you’re maybe reading this. (FHD, anyone?).

Nice hangout. Cool mixology and great blue Hawaiian s. Its really changed from the drab booths that it had to a nice and cool bar and dance floor. My wife and our friends really had a good time. Cool DJ too.

Nice little bar. I liked the décor and fans. Bar tenders are friendly and got our drinks fast. Not a lot of seating and a small dance floor. Some outdoor seats but you can’t take glass drinks outside. Decent place but needs more seating.

This place is the jam. Come respectful and expecting to be respected. Drinks are served very quickly and with friendly service during the week, weekends are typically busy like all other bars. Expect a line while listening to music from the house Dj, wayne, swiss, xavier on Fridays and Saturdays. They have a LAUNDRY list of craft beers and the cocktails are consistent. Great job guys! Consistent pours, great and friendly service, yes you call it a dive bar if you want, but with 40 craft beers in stock and experienced staff I don’t feel it is a dive. Mixed ambiance that fits the neighborhood. My circle of friends are in the service industry, there is a reason this is our bar…

I go to this place for the drink prices. Beers and cocktails are all around $ 3-​$ 5 each. I see people from all walks of life whenever I’m here so it’s not catered to a specific crowd which I really like. Good cheap drinks and a non-​pretentious atmosphere, what more can you ask for?

Great drink prices, I believe they offered $ 3 wells, and some bottled beers. They are undergoing construction, so it gets noisy.

In on a Wednesday and not crowded but still good environment. Let me start with the michelada because it is my all time favorite, I asked for spicy and lo and behold I was given spicy lol (some bars don’t know the term spicy). I completely approve of the Michelada 100% & chamoy shot was delicious…

Sikk dive, cool people, fun pool table. There was a horrible woman doing horrible versions of GNR on the karaōke machine. I had a great time. Would go again.

The San Antonio premium dive bar. I’ve been to Bar America before the remodel loved it then and still love it now. Still friendly people, locals and visitors. You can come with a group or by yourself. If your a fan of places like Stone Werks or those overpriced chain restaurant bars this probably won’t be your bar. People actually talk to you here. Also come as you may no one judges here either. Maybe this place should’ve been call Bar San Antonio. Also I wont gove a bar a low rating if I’ve never even tried it becausw it was closed. Just don’t drink so early.

Well the music was good… long line to get in… Not enough tables… Bar was decent. Service was ok. Nothing really stood out about it.

This place has been remolded to the tee. It has a good happy hour, (try the Danny Green shot), with $ 2 wells. Good selection of brews and the bartenders are helpful and customer oriented. The walk is whatever and the beer snobs can shove it.

Cute spot. Went on a Thursday night. Not very busy, actually more peeps standing outside smoking than inside. They have a fun red pool table that slopes to the back, so makes for a very interesting game. But fun nonetheless. Had a moose drool beer in the can. So glad they had that. Yummy. Great street to bar hop down, of course you must make this a stop.

The thing you must know about the Southtown area is that no matter where you want to go, you should be prepared to walk quite a ways depending on what time of the evening it is. This means in San Antonio, you will be hot, you will be sweaty, and when you walk into Baramerica you are welcomed by the amazing feeling of central air, and a cold beer.
Since the reopening, they now have a full bar, a good juke box, and dj’s on the weekends. I’ve met travelers on every trip here, the last time I met folks from Brazil. Also on a personal note, Every relationship I’ve had in San Antonio, in one way or another Baramerica was involved in the beginning. I’ve met a girlfriend here, and I’ve been here on a few early relationship dates. So maybe thats a sign of why they haven’t worked out, or maybe Baramerica is just a place people go looking for love? Who knows?
All and all, this is just a relaxed bar, where locals and tourist alike are mixed together, you probably should avoid wearing Dallas Mavericks gear, us locals take that seriously. I only bring it up because that is what the one and only fight I’ve seen here was about. Other than that I’ve had nothing but positive experiences, and I believe you will to. This is a dive, so don’t expect any craft beers, this is a lone star and whiskey type of joint.

The A/​C is cold and so is the beer. $ 3 for a 24 oz Lone Star. No beating that. The jukebox plays my favorite tunes. The staff is great. Its close to the house so I can stumble home. Great dive bars are hard to find. Well, I’ve found mine.

So glad BarAmerica is open again! I really like the changes they’ve made. New paint job, new stools, new jukebox, credit card machine now and they have liquor too! After grabbing my Newcastle and settling in with friends to enjoy the new atmosphere we were all pleased and liked the facelift! Friendly helpful servers, kept checking on us and I’ll be grabbing more beer here in the future!
