I appreciated the menu being broken out by vegetarian and non-vegetarian. This was helpful since my daughter is a vegan and I am not. I also appreciated that many of the soups and appetizers were chicken vs. pork. I could actually order egg rolls, wontons, dumplings, etc. And because my daughter and I LOVE spicy, flavorful asian food, everything was satisfying to the senses. I would suggest the women wait staff smile and engage more. I say this because the men wait staff seemed happy to be there. Perhaps there is a good reason the women there didn’t seem happy, but one needs to fake it till you make it in the hospitality business. As well, it was difficult at times to communicate to the wait staff as they seemed to be limited in speaking English.

Yeah … No. Hot and sour soup and garlic chicken were just flat … no depth. And this is Texas … don’t tell me you don’t have iced tea. Won’t be returning.

Food has always been good. Been several times for lunch because me and my co-workers like the buffet. Went today and the buffet is no longer. The people who work there were rude. Ate there anyway. The food was good. The service was not. Need to find a new place for Asian/Indian fusion.

We went to this restaurant even after looking all the Unilocal reviews and kind of knew it wont be any different after seeing that we are the only ones at the restaurant at 8PM on a saturday. We ordered the curry fried rice, cauliflower machurian, and spring rolls. I did not see the price properly otherwise would not have ordered the spring rolls. The food came very quickly which is not a good sign for this kind of restaurant. As expected the whole food was well below quality. The spring rolls where 7 bucks for 3 of them and they did not look any better than the microwaved ones that we eat at home. It was absolutely not worth the money from any angle. The fried rice was very cold and the least they could have done is heat it up to atleast make it look like it is fresh. The taste was just so so. Could not taste the curry in the fried rice at all. It was barely the fried rice without any traces of freshness neither in the quality of the ingredients or the presentation. The manchurian was the only thing we liked of all the things. It was at least a bit hot and there was some taste to it. All in all not up to the standard of a Indo-Chinese type of restaurant for the money that was spent on it. Fortunately we have eaten in Cleveland and as well as Chicago(at one time it was there in Chicago) and we had some good memories of it. Sorry to say that I will start trying out the other Indian restaurants in the area and see how they fare as I am not definitely go back to this one in near future.

This place has two Indian servers with heavy accents and quiet voices. We could not understand anything they were saying. They were new servers, so they also did not know much of the menu. When we asked how the tom yum soup was(knowing it was a thai dish), she said she didn’t know what it was. Then we asked what the specials were, she again said she didn’t know. Then we asked if she could bring over someone who knew the menu well. She came back saying they only had three beef dishes available(which was not even the answer to our question). They probably only had half the menu actually available. Every time we ordered something, they would check and come back saying they did not have it. Both servers switched back and forth at our table, never gave us their names, were highly untrained, and served with their fingers touching the inside of the bowls. In terms of food, it came at a reasonable time, but was very sub-par. They charged 18% automatic gratuity for tables more than 5, and obviously we thought they didn’t deserve it. Two stars for food, one for service. Won’t be coming back.

This service at this location is horrific. We had ordered to go food and when we got home we noticed the food was cold, missing sauces and not complete. We call them about there mistake and they only offered a sorry. After telling them about how upset we were they offered to deliver a new order to us. After a hour of no show I called them back and they acted like they had no clue what we were talking a about. After speaking to a manger and yelling on the top of my lungs the manger said he will give us a refund. Horrible food, horrible service and no customer skills what so ever. You lost me as a customer for good.

Sucks. Service sucks, they poured water all over my friend and were not even apologetic about it. Managers are not around, and people working there are too timid to take any actions. Food, specially chicken smelled bad as if it was stale. Never visiting again! Just pathetic.

We had a terrible dining experience at this place. we went for dinner and the food was so terrible we could hardly eat. The cooks and servers were students, the service was fast but the cook forgot to season our noodles, no salt and other spices. Very bland and taste less food. Dont waste your money here go elsewhere.

The service is horrible. We were not greeted properly. The entire order is messed up. Drums of heaven used to be my favorite but they sucked big time. It didn’t even have the sauces right, when asked about it they were adamant to accept and argued that was the right dish. Never coming back here.

We ordered two take out noodle dishes. They were very basic. The lo mein with chicken had some unflavored fried chicken breast pieces in it. I was unable to grasp any significant flavor in the food and did not expect it would be so bland and not quite moist enough. Overall disappointed with these dishes.

It is an interesting blend. I enjoyed it. I will return. They blend Asian with Indian. I like their custom sauces.

Asian fusion = meh. This place is 80% Asian fusion. Ergo it is 80%(fill in the blank). However, there is one positive in this place … that if it were to be properly executed by a rival could turn into an amazing restaurant here in Austin. SOME of the dishes are Indian-Chinese!!! Indian Chinese is a REAL genre — a genre we almost never see in the US. It is Chinese food served with Chinese ingredients, designed in India with the intention of pleasing Indian palates. It is one of the most awesome food genres on the planet. Indians here in Austin know you can get Indian-Chinese here at Inchin Bamboo Garden. The people who run the place are from the subcontinent(Indian or Pakistani I couldn’t tell — but they serve Halal meat so I will guess Pakistani), and when we were there about 60% of the clientele was subcontinental as well. Unfortunately, it is not very good Indian-Chinese. The best dish I had was an appetizer called Chinese Bhei, a noodle, tomato, onion and super-spicy sauce concoction that set my mouth on fire.(In this case fire = good). A chili paneer(an Indo-Chinese staple) was«that’s nice dear.» A sweet garlicky eggplant(another Indo-Chinese Staple) was generic sweet without much other intrinsic taste. Tofu with ginger was bland to the point of ennui. If you want real Indo-Chinese, go to Saravanaa Bhavan either in Dallas or Houston. I have not eaten in either Texas location — but this is a global chain based in Chennai with outlets all over the world — and I have eaten at several of their outlets in London where the food is first rate. The restaurant is only about 10% Indian-Chinese(It is mostly Southern Indian) … but their menu is enormously long and 10% of a vast amount is still a large amount. But I don’t want to have to drive to Dallas or Houston in the hope that the US version of this restaurant is as reliable as the branches in other countries. Could some Indian or Pakistani entrepreneur who wants to make a zillion dollars tomorrow — please open up a REAL Indian-Chinese restaurant in Austin? Please! Please?

My consistent experience with place is their ‘inconsistency’. Both in taste and in service. Service is still good enough although the servers are powerless, uninterested even in regular customers and just do their job with a straight face. Food! — i am so forgiving a customer to this place because I love indo chinese and have no choice. I resist and come back ! What I love– pan fried chilli paneer, veg manchurian, Hakka noodles, Kung pao chicken etc. What goes wrong — rice is often partially cooked. Soups are a disaster mix of cornstarch and soy sauce with high salt, no real taste or flavor. Hakka noodles often misses vegetables. Fish entrée was stinky, not fresh and Tastes really bad. Please get better… I want this place to survive!

Indian and Chinese food, together? I’ve never been to or even really heard of a place that specializes in both. It’s like me and my boyfriend together in food form. Anyway, I thought the food was just okay. I had the Hakka noodles, and they were totally unimpressive to me. They were just like any other noodles — nothing distinguishing or interesting about them. They weren’t bad or bland; they were just extremely forgettable. If I ever come back, I think I’d try something more Indian-influenced. A friend ordered chili paneer for everyone to try as well. I thought it was decent, though it looked much spicier than it really was. Instead it seemed like the onions absorbed all the heat. Boyfriend had the American chopsuey, which was alright but drowned in sauce(kind of defeats the purpose of having crispy noodles, dontcha think?). The only other things I have to say are that the restaurant itself looked upscale; it seemed very clean and nicely decorated/furnished. Service was okay — nothing to write home about. I wouldn’t be opposed to coming back and trying other dishes, but this isn’t a place that would immediately come to my mind when deciding where to eat.

I was very happy when i heard bamboo garden had a branch in austin. I was a regular at their raleigh branch and i used to love n it thr. but… I’ve mixed reviews for this one. I’ve been here abour 3 – 4 times. sometimes the food is reallly good and the other times it’s absolutely tasteless. On a lucky day you might like these on the menu: veg coin manchurian, burnt garlic fried rice, curried noodles, pan fried chilli paneer Do not try drums of heaven. Their drinks are pathetic too. Ambience is okay.

I’m knocking off one star for absolutely inconsistent food. The first time we went, the food was phenomenal, but the second time it was mediocre, the time after it was good, and the last time we went it was absolutely horrendous! Knocking off another star for an incredibly rude waitress. She seems to be the only waitress every time we’ve gone and she is rude to your face. The last time we went, which will likely be the last time ever, she brought us the wrong order. When we told her it was not what we had ordered, she proceeded to argue with us. We had to ask the manager to actually get us what we had ordered. And then the rest of the time we were there, she proceeded to completely ignore us and avoid our table. We had to flag down other waiters that passed our table for water, condiments, etc.

Indian-Chinese fusion… Why didn’t I think of that??? My wife and I had the burnt garlic rice with shrimp and the curried noodles with shrimp Chicken and pork. Both dishes were delicious! We also started with the chicken wings… Forgot what they were called on the menu but they were under the appetizers. These are a MUSTHAVE if you are coming here. They were seasoned so well and cooked perfectly. They fell right off the bone! Staff was very attentive and the whole place was managed quite well. We will be back again soon!

I visited this place a year ago in 2014. The food was very mediocre. I tried it again last week and I must say it is one of the best foods I’ve ever tasted. I tried their mustard paneer, veg dumpling in gravy and ghobi munchurian and each one of them was delicious. Definitely one of the best restaurants in austin.

Although this is the only decent indo-chinese /chindian restaurant in Austin, they take their menu seriously. The $ 10 weekday lunch buffet is a fantastic deal as you get to sample quite a few of their dishes and since they rotate the items in the buffet, you know you aren’t going to get the same items every time. If you order from the a la carte menu, do try their Hakka or Chilli Garlic Noodles. For those who like their food hot, the Schezwan Fried Rice & Schezwan Chicken are good dishes to order. The Cauliflower Manchurian and Shanghai Potatoes are tasty vegetarian options. As regards service, I haven’t had an issue yet(because i order everything at the beginning) and I’m hoping it stays that way.

I have been eating at Inchin Bamboo Garden’s a over usa(sunnyve, dallas, phoenix) but this one disappoints. A couple of things are off: Menu: It does not contain their hot selling items and they are not flexible at all with making alterations. Making things dry/with gravy and appetizer to entrée portions or vice versa is normal. This inchin does not do that. The menu in the restaurant is different than online menu. Staff/service: Staff is ok, i guess i don’t like them because they are so rigid. Not sure if its the owners policy or the chef’s policy. They will NOT make any alterations what so ever. Though she did give us some choices and offered to taste some sauces before ordering. Ambience: Was it the food or the service, even the ambience is not that warm as other inchin’s. I am not sure why i didnot like this restaurant as i like the others. I think its mainly the management of the restaurant which matters. I read other reviews about the menu changes too. I am not sure how can an indo chinese restaurant not have ‘crispy chilly potatoes’and ‘mushrooms’ of some sort. Disappointed!
