After passing by this place so many a time, I finally found myself INSIDE Yur’s on Sunday for the Patriots game. Whoa: there are a lot of Patriots fans in Portland. BAWSTON! Anyway… This is exactly what you might picture from a dive bar — super dark, video poker, a convenient vending machine for Camel cigarettes. Classic. But in a Portland twist, they have a(really) nice lineup of microbrews, from Lagunitas IPA to Delicious Coors Light(check the menu, I’m not making that up). I started with a freaking amazing espresso stout. After that, I noticed it was $ 5 Bloody Mary specials on Sunday, and I wasn’t going to pass that up. HOLYGUACAMOLETHATWASTHESPICIESTBLOODY I’VEEVERHAD. Seriously. It was. I couldn’t even finish it and had to rotate sips between that and my Fort George Vortex IPA(seriously guys, great job with that beer list). So, basically if you’re looking for a super divey bar to watch a game and drink some great beer, this is your jam. If you’re sensitive to spice, don’t get the bloody. Yowza!

Cheap dive bar that is dark and has sketchy carpet. Line up in one line to order beer(weird) instead of crowding bar. Total New England Patriots bar and fills up with all Boston crew during the game– kicking out the old locals who usually play video poker.

Great place, staff is always super nice, food is solid pub fodder, and you HAVE to chat up the radio cabbies they have some of the best stories!

Yur’s is a great dive bar that(surprisingly) is just outside the Pearl. I’m always skeptical of places claiming to be dive bars, but this is legitimately a dive bar with an east coast feel(which I’ve been searching for) and they’re actually open until 2:30am! Unlike east coast dive bars, however, the staff is friendly and eye-roll free. Cheap beers, good food, and Taco Tuesdays. If you’re on the look out for decent wings for less than astronomical price, they give you a lb for $ 7(which is close to $ 0.50 a wing). When I’m sick of the pretentious bars of downtown or need some cheap food and beer, this is the place I come!

I love this place… And have no complaints. But while using the restroom a couple of out of towners said in confidence is the only thing they don’t like is the restroom. It’s not private. It’s uninviting. I agree. The shower curtain opened as they walked by. They saw it all.

Had their Thursday prime rib dinners few times, too bloody and not sure if it’s a good thing to piss off the cooks by asking for it any different, apparently as one of their regular patron had informed me, if I want my steak any different I have to go and tip the cook with $ 5 or more soon after I order my food with the waitress /bartender, so that $ 10 prime rib just became a $ 15 dinner plus any drinks and the tip for the waitress. If you don’t mind the noise, dirtyness of a dive bar plus the slow service(if you want or need service you have to get up and get it yourself) I had 2 pints of beer from a tap and the waitress got the cold cup from the fridge… so I thought, guy behind me said to me this is how you get a colder beer here, he immediately handed her $ 2 and she ran to the freezer to get the ice cold cup for his beer(he had his on tab — his credit card) but if you want the extra attention you have to pay for it. It’s only 50 cent cheaper during happy hour if the waitress remembers to put it on the POS when ringing it up, got charged $ 11 for 2 glass of beers, so the bill should be $ 21-$ 22, apparently the waitress added her tip on there for a total of almost $ 28. I just paid for it got the flock out of there, including the $ 5 tip to the cook for a nice piece which the cook brought it out with a smile but was lot smaller than the others(caucasian /white people) apparently it makes a difference if a white guy tips and asks and if an Asian tips and asks the same thing, guy next to me got a freaking HUGE steak and I got the extra small! So, got over charged by a bad waitress who seems to want her cash tips in advance or you get in on your bill… This place is a HELL — HOLE!!!

Pool sticks are new and improved. Juke box still legit. Patrons still have no class. Perfect.

Love this place! Looking for a place for a late dinner and a couple drinks on a Monday night. We arrived around 11.30PM, the bartender wasn’t super chatty but she was friendly enough and served us quickly. My well whiskey was generously poured. Love the divey atmosphere, I felt immediately at home. It’s big and spacious, there’s booths, big tables, little tables and a long bar, an internet jukebox, free pool(!) and popcorn. Crowd was chill. The food is nothing super fancy, but it’s tasty greasy bar food.

With the passing of time, dive bars shake around and some rise to the top whilst others sink or get gobbled up in gentrification. I have no idea where Yur’s fits in to that equation because I’m a newbie, and so to me it’s like brand new. I really enjoy this place, especially on Tuesdays. That is the day that is most cleverly associated with a Mexi-‘Merican food favorite to us all –the beloved taco. Here at Yur’s they have really got the food and drink down to simple brass tacks and they do not disappoint. The environs are real comfortable as well. They have big cushy booths that you can seat a real party of friends at without being scrunched nor have to belly up a chair at the end. They have pool tables and I think darts too amongst other cool entertainment devices. The staff is knowing and friendly, as I like them to be. I could get used to hanging out here for some session drinking or just pop in for a quickie, and I’m sure you can dig it too. Cheers!

I’ve been going to Yur’s for about 20 years, more so in recent decades. I am the Shane you refer to. I loved this place, felt a connection, and I have always take care of the staff at 40−60% tip minimum, even when not deserved. The one time I actually post something that calls out the gossiping and lack of service, resulting in lack of helping customers on a super random night got me 86’d.(So I’ve been informed, I have opted to patronize places that care.) The comment of them talking, «It must have been important» is crap. Most of the staff acts professional(and I wish them better jobs, this is not worth it), that evening was the«bitchers». Oh, not a quiet discussion, but in full voice about nothing but petty 8th grade bullshit about other staff. I have no apologies. I pointed out a specific moment in time that was obscure, and it landed me on the shit list. I guess my regularity, and money into this business can be written off in a whim. It’s sad in a day that the dive bars are disappearing.

They have good food. Awful service. Don’t go there with too many people. The bartender(female) was very cranky. I tipped them well but completely regret that. It took a really long time to get my drink order placed.

Great happy hour specials and free popcorn keep me coming back time and time again. The beers are cold and the wait service is the opposite. I always feel very welcome here even when i havent been in months.

Easy place to go and hang out. The staff is every welcoming, if you don’t fuck up and piss them off; no really — don’t piss them off. Or do piss them off, so the people at the bar can watch.

I give Yur’s a 4 star because it fits ALL the requirements of a cheap dive bar. We came here on a Sunday morning at 10am to watch the Patriots play and had a great time. There was a decent crowd there(for 10am) with a lot of Boston fans, which we loved seeing. The bartender was super friendly and talkative. My husband ordered beer(IPA and Stout on tap) — I wasn’t feeling up for drinking at 10am so I opted for coffee… to my delight, I got bottomless coffee for free! They also have unlimited free popcorn too that you can fill up yourself! My husband also ordered the breakfast bacon burrito and thought it was actually pretty good… We got out of there with 2 pints of beer, a breakfast burrito, countless cups of coffee, and a ton of popcorn baskets for 11DOLLARS. The décor was dark and windowless in the back, with lottery machines and Buck Hunter games(our fave!) as well as pool tables. The bathrooms are also totally divey, with shower curtains to separate the stalls… not my favorite, but I guess it add to it’s divey’ness and uniqueness! They also have weekly specials — discounts on beers, cheap taco nights, etc., so we look forward to coming back. Overall, if you are looking for a regular dive bar to watch the games, this is the place. With the great service, cheap drinks/food, and freebies. they take care of their customers and know how to show people a good time!

I was in town last week visiting from the east coast and wanted to find a place to watch my New England Patriots take on the Minnesota Vikings. My first search was a Unilocal search and I found Yur’s. First of all, I have never done the 10:00am NFL game before so I was excited for a new football experience. Yur’s had a lot of great reviews and it did not disappoint. At first glance it just seems like your typical dive bar. But then you go to the back room and it’s like a man cave New England Patriots bar. I ordered the chicken fried steak with hash browns and scrambled eggs. I gotta say, it was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had. The gravy on the perfectly fried steak was delicious. The backroom felt like a livingroom with couches and two HD screens. The people were all fun to root along with. It was fun getting to know people’s stories too. Everyone was extremely friendly and so was the staff. Great service. The next time I’m in the Portland area during a Pats game I will for sure be coming back to Yur’s

This is my friend’s boyfriend’s favorite local hangout, so we came here for his birthday. For starters, the tater tots were fantastic, and cheap! So was the beer(cheap, that is) The guys played pool and darts while us girls sat and sipped on said cheap beer and made fun of the boys. This is a very non-descript bar. You either get taken here by a friend or you don’t know where it is, but once you do, it’s a great regular hang out. It’s a dive bar that isn’t as divey as what you’d find on the east side. Regardless of the fact that this bar is a little off the beaten bar circuit path, it’s a good location is good, because parking is free and that is always a good thing. If you like bar food and need a place to go with more than just a bar and stools, this place is worth giving a shot.

Taco Tuesday paradise!!! When I saw my friends, Jeannie J. and Tamara C. check in on Tuesdays, all I could think about was tacos tacos tacos. So when Jeannie put together a UYE a few months back, that event certainly earned me repeat visits. For $ 3, a huge plate of carnitas taco’s were delivered and I was amazed by the portion and quality. Soft tortilla’s, lime wedges on the side, moist and tenderly shredded pork with all the fixins will satisfy any taco lover. Order the special fry — fried ravioli’s that were a big hit at our table! The beer selection is huge and they do a great job of rotating seasonal beers and other variety selection when appropriate. Free popcorn is a great snack to nibble if your just having a beer or 2. I have yet to have a bad experience here and the bartenders are attentive and on point in service. It’s definitely an older crowd which is can be a nice change of pace compared to other bars in the area. Their other food options are decent and other days, taco’s arrive in the hard shell type which is fine by me. This place is great for groups, playing a round or 2 of pool, or just relax at the bar with beer of choice in hand. I have introduced other friends and we always have a great time with beer, taco’s, and popcorn. Thanks again Jeannie and Tamara for introducing me to this spot!

Mmmm. Tacos. Taco Tuesdays. That always makes Tuesday terrific in my book. Just tried the carnitas for the first time the other day and just WOW! Do wear something that you don’t mind getting messy. These things are juicy. The tacos are the crunchy shell. I usually get the chicken tacos. You also have an option for vegetarian or beef tacos. The tacos come three to a basket for $ 3.00 and they’re really good. The wings are pretty awesome as well. This is how it works: Go up to the bar, order your drink which will be super stiff then go help yourself to some of the free popcorn while you wait for your grub. There’s a jukebox where you can play really annoying country music which seems to be the preference there. Or you could do me a favor and play some Daft Punk… they probably don’t have that on the jukebox… there are video gambling machines and pool tables for you entertainment pleasure as well. The people watching can be interesting too. Folks hanging out together at the bar: The mailman hanging out, the toothless meth addict wearing the see-through top so we can see her«goods», and other various entertainment that comes and goes. Oh yeah, Yur’s is where it’s at.

Yur’s is a place that you can easily pass by for years and not feel compelled to enter unless you’re specifically looking for a dive. It’s close to the freeway underpass, and there aren’t many businesses around other than Radio Cab. I have been in the neighborhood forever, but I hadn’t been more than a few times until the past 5 years or so. It still was a very infrequent stop for me even after that. Most of the time only when a group of friends wanted to watch a game on a large screen someplace with enough room to sit comfortably. This bar is really spacious, and offers plenty of room for games(pool tables and darts), several TV’s and comfortable booths. They always have tasty free popcorn, which is a nice bonus. The drinks aren’t expensive, and they’re usually poured on the heavy side. The bathroom leaves a lot to be desired. It’s clean, but there are no doors, only shower curtains. You can easily be walked in on mid pee. No bueno. I was recently craving classic wings. I didn’t want fancy, and wanted somewhere within walking distance of my apartment. I thought I would give Yur’s a try. It was then I discovered their happy hour menu. It’s bar food, but done well. The wings were great! They offer several choices of sauce, but I went with Frank’s Red Hot($ 5 durning HH for 6). They also have hard shell tacos. You can choose from shredded chicken, bean, or ground beef. I go for the chicken. Tuesday they offer carnitas in soft tortillas with chopped onion and cilantro topping. I haven’t had the carnitas, but my friends say they’re very good. Three bucks for three generously sized tacos is a good deal in my book, especially since they’re very well seasoned and tasty. I’m a fan! The crowd is mostly blue collar, and a lot of regulars. I haven’t run across hipsters or bro dudes. Sometimes cab drivers stop by after their shift. Heck, I even run into my mailman now and then! In short, you don’t have to dress to impress. Go as you are. I like places like that. The bartenders are friendly and efficient. There isn’t table service, but there is rarely more than one or two people in front of you. To sum it up, this is a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy quality bar food, a basket of popcorn, and a couple of drinks on the cheap.

I came across Yur’s from creative crowd friends when they had bike parking inside. Dive bars are a cultural niche in the American mosaic and should be honored! This dark den has a long bar and modest booths to the side with top lighting, the back pool room and a dining-ish side room. There are sports screens day for night. Outside are picnic table spots. They have made all day Thursday prime rib meals at $ 9.95. Yur’s has a marquee that announced that, I was in the ‘hood, so I stopped to experience it. You can call to check if all has all been eaten, I think they start at lunch and go until all those ribs are consumed. Order at the bar and they bring it. The dish is about a 5⁄8 inch thick slice of medium rare beef cow animal. It’s accompanied by mashed potatoes, real, neither artisan or instant — A-OK, an unusual mix of sour cream and horseradish on the side, and grilled asparagus(!). Green vegetables, not overcooked = semi-balanced meal! I wouldn’t say the prime rib I had was not melt in your mouth veiny fat, but it was perfectly excellent. They do go through a few beefs per day on a Thursday, so YMMV. Yur’s also has a Taco Tuesday — 3 tacos for $ 3 and they are much larger than most tacos around town at the regular price. Combine that with their micro special at happy hour and get your B vitamins! They have updated their taps to about a dozen quality local micros. And they have WiFi, so nearby startups and techies unite. You can’t beat the quality for the price at Yur’s! And hey, expatriates of Expatriate, check Yur’s…
