I’ve never had a bad experience here and I love their back patio on the rooftop; perfect during the Summer. Their indoor is nice too with lots of seating and very open. Staff has always been nice and the atmosphere is pretty laid back.

Was with a large group on the deck. Place not that busy outside our group. Almost no one waiting the tables. Wouldn’t let us order inside. Took 20 minutes to place order and then 20 more minutes just to get a beer. The food was awful. My Philly cheese steak was the worse sandwich I have ever had. The beef wax like some old dried up leather. Someone else at our table never got his food, even after asking about it several times. Never go back to this dump.

Thought I would give this place another try– still food quality not so good and slow service. Deck is amazing if you sit close to the outside bar then you can get yourself faster service– when they have it open

Excellent service, excellent beer. Not sure what the other reviewers are crying about but we came in after a timbers game and were treated with the utmost respect by the bartender Tim. He’s a hustler, had our new drinks filled by the time we needed new ones. I will definitely be back to this place for after-game festivities. I recommend you do the same!!!

My coworkers and I went here for Happy Hour this past Friday. I’ve never been there so this was my first time. We decided to hang out by the roof top deck since it was a gorgeous day. Our server was really nice and the drinks can’t be beat – a Tequila Sunrise for $ 3.75?! Yes, please! I can’t say anything about the food since we didn’t try it. The place is huge and super quiet since we went there early. I can see myself going there again.

Ridiculous waits. Yes it’s a game night but they knew that was happening. And half the deck is closed, wth??? Waitress informs us when we try to order food there will be a 40 min wait, do we still want to order??? who asks that ??? Staff up people, hire temporary? Do whatever!!! people need jobs!

How many places are there that you can go that have a outdoor environment on the roof and an indoor option as well? Reminds me of great clubs in Southern California. And on top of that the owners are such wonderful people! Their entire staff are great too!

Food was very underwhelming, but the atmosphere is great. Perfect patio spot when it’s nice out! And great place to drink. But yeah the food is bad. I had a buffalo chicken wrap it was super meh. Nachos meh. Fried pickles meh. The BLT was okay.

Really cool sportsbar in an awesome space! Our bartender Kevin was awesome! Beer was cold and fresh and the Pearl Manhattan was perfect — we’ll be back for sure. And if I didn’t say it before — our bartender Kevin WASTHEMAN.

I go to On Deck whether it’s sunny or raining. They make fresh plates of food that are super. For lunch I usually order the steak salad. It’s fresh, steak cooked perfectly and tastes just Delish. I bring my laptop, order my lunch and get a lot of my daily work done.

Great atmosphere, delicious food, cool cocktails(gin martini over w/two olives) and attentive service! Casey was the perfect host, very friendly and regularly checked on customers needs. Such a nice experience, off the street & up the stairs — I would highly recommend this place ! Christine W.

Great spot for watching games. Menu is varied with traditional pub fare. Our party had a burger(huge, juicy and tasty!), and brunch. Waitstaff was super friendly and did well in spite of the crowd.

This place is huge, open early, dry and warm, what’s not to like about that in Portland. My husband and I came early, for a cold brew and to get out of the rain. The bartender was friendly enough. We went in about 12 or so, soaking wet. Looking back the bartender was darn patient as I took off my jacket, gloves and set my umbrella down, soaking the table. I’m sure he thought«ah, tourist, no doubt» anyway, I appreciated him pretending not to see my clumsiness. Checked out the menu, there are some good sounding eats on it and fair prices. This place would be great for large groups. There is plenty of seating outdoors too. They have a special room for video gaming and plenty of tv’s for sports watching all over the establishment. If I lived here in Portland(Pearl District) this would definitely be a favorite sports bar of mine.

So we come here to watch Duck games. We’ve always manage to get seAts but I noticed while I was on my way to the restroom, they put out fold out chairs and tables in case it gets packed(which is nice). If you need to hear the TV, make sure you sit up front vs the back. We were munching on the Cajan tots which were nice and crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I thought they were gonna give us handful of it but this huge plate comes out with it filled with tots! We also had the Spinach dip which was also really good.

This place looked good. Went in to watch the game on football Sunday. They weren’t even completely full and the waitress said they weren’t letting people in because they were understaffed(not because they were full) Including the bar area. No wait time, just a flat out no. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced that at a restaurant before. No one in there looked very happy, and a table got up and left complaining when we got there. It did have plenty of room and tvs if they do decide to serve you. I recommend getting there early on game days.

I kid you not when I say that this is absolutely the worst bar in NW Portland. Horrible service, horrible food, and the douchiest clientele you will ever meet. Avoid this place at all costs. This is a brodouche hellhole. I feel like vomiting every time I walk by this place.

Abundant TV’s and on an NFL Sunday, they are clever and friendly enough to label each tv with which game will be shown on each for the 10:00am and 1:00PM games. Good buffalo wings… And their craft beer selection is better than average, and they make every effort to keep as many local Portland craft breweries on tap so long as they are available! I’d definitely come back here to catch a sports game and grab some wings and a local craft beer!

Pretty much what you’d expect out of a sports bar. Decent draft selection, plenty of comfort foos. Happy Hour was going on during Monday night football, which is why I was there. The place wasn’t too busy and they flipped the chanel over to the game on the tv by me when I asked. There was also a brewery rep going around handing out raffle tickets if you ordered a certain beer, which I did, and I won a free pint glass. So, another bonus. It’s a good place to catch the game, and there’s plenty of other bars nearby for after the game.

Writing this negative review as directive TV movie previews play on our screen while the Ladies World Cup game is on every other screen, all the employee’s we ask to switch the game back on are either«Not working our section» or unable to get the remote to work. I would move to a different TV but 80% of the deck is closed and the bar is jam packed and under staffed. I’ve watched 30+ people walk out because the they can’t find a seat. which is ridiculous because they have a HUGE deck that was roped off… More staff + open deck = happy customer. The upside: Our server was friendly and the food was good.

I booked a private event for my company(40 people) with On Deck and they were ONIT! From the initial contact and planning all the way through the end of our event, they were friendly & quick to respond. The night of the event, they were fully prepared with an appropriate number of staff on duty, and all guests were served in a timely manner. They grilled for us right out on the deck and were able to accommodate all of our needs as they came up. I would definitely recommend them as a perfect casual place for booking large groups! It was a great way to get all of our guests to mingle and interact in a comfortable environment, like a backyard BBQ without all the stress! Thanks!

We got into Portland yesterday and was looking for a place to get some food after traveling all day. We saw this place and thought sports bar, easy simple and safe. We were hungry and decided to go. Place looks really nice. Plenty of outside seating and a fair amount in doors. Service was another thing altogether. We walked in. No host/hostess to great and seat us. So we found a table and seated ourselves. There was a stack of menus laying on some of the landscaping. That was the closest I saw to seeing the menu. Was I supposed to grab them myself? So we waited at the table for a good 5 – 10 mins. My girlfriend asks if I would go up to the bar and at least get us some drinks. So I did, and I ordered a pineapple and Malibu for her and a widmers for me. Beer was good. Though her pineapple and«Malibu» certainly was not. Not sure what the bartender poured as I couldn’t see the label, but I did see the bottle. It wasn’t Malibu, it wasn’t even parrot bay. It had to be some bottom shelf brand. She certainly didn’t like it. It tasted dirty to her and she didn’t finish it. I had two sips of it. Didn’t taste right either. During this whole time we could see wait staff but no one came to us. No one. They seemed more concerned with a large party that wrapped up when we got there. The only decent service was the bartender. I at least got my drinks within a minute. Probably due to the fact there was five people seated and 15 that crowded on one side of the bar. Bartender was friendly though. All in all a very dissatisfied experience. We walked back after I finished my beer and looked for a place to eat or deliver. I never thought I’d say this but damn, Pizza Hut was our hero. Food was good! Delivery guy got the food there piping hot and earlier that what was promised. How could delivery be light years better than going to a site down place?

We stopped by this place to watch my beloved New Orleans Pelicans play in an NBA playoff game. Reading the reviews didn’t deter us simply because from a sports watching standpoint, this has to be one of the best spots in the downtown area. TVs are everywhere. The place is extremely spacious and comfortable. They have enough beer taps for all the mavens out there. It’s not Apex, but Apex will tell you in their FAQ to not ask them about a basketball game because they won’t turn it on. This place serves a purpose in a city where some of the patrons may be overly critical because the food isn’t from a farm or the beer doesn’t score a 100 on BA. The food is standard bar food. Nothing will blow you away, service was great during our visit and the beer was cold. I drank a Ft. George Vortex IPA which would be a beer I wouldn’t mind ordering at any bar in the city. They also have any alcoholic drink you could ask for which I found odd, most bars we went to didn’t carry liquor. Regardless, if you want to watch a game, hang out with friends with a solid atmosphere, this is a good place to go. In fact, this was probably the 8th bar we’ve been to since arriving in the city, and I would say with confidence this has been the only one sports friendly where I would feel comfortable asking them to put my game of choice on TV.

Not bad for a bar. Large area and great outdoor deck… I bet this place is packed in the summer as the upstairs patio is huge. The photo was average… my BLT was pretty blah but my husband really liked his club sandwich and our friends enjoyed their breakfast. Good beer selection and a lot of TVs so perfect for games and entertainment. Definitely good for large groups as they have a lot of space. Service was very prompt and friendly.

If only the weather was more amazing throughout the year, On Deck would be slammed more often than than not. The ploy for the outdoor patio is a warranted one, as it’s one of the best outdoor spots to enjoy a good cold brew and a nice bite of food. But seeing as weather isn’t always so kind, the rest of the place is definitely spacious enough for you and a few friends. All in all, there are plenty of reasons to warrant a visit. One of those reasons is for the happy hour. It’s been no secret that I’ve enjoyed the Portland lush HH food scene, in which a portion of the menu is discounted for close to full size servings. Essentially from Monday through Friday, this is a reality between 3−6pm and on some nights, during the last two hours of operation(see Sunday from 9−10pm). Knowing this I’ve visited on multiple occasions, only to find one major flaw: the food itself. A lot of the edible HH options are in the realm of bar food with a semi-twist. From chicken quesadillas to tater tots, there is plenty of drunk food to be had. I decided to roll with the Deviled Eggs($ 3), which were supposed to be stuffed with cheddar and bacon, but were a tad skimpy on the filling(read: barely any). Another disappointment was the crunchy beef taco, which arrive as messy as it tasted. It fell apart within the first bite, which made for an awkward meal with the fork afterward. No matter, I should’ve known better than to order a taco at a bar. So I went with something more substantial. The On Deck Burger looked the part, but was in fact a touch too dry. The same for the sliders and wings, which could just mean the meat options in general are not ones worth considering. For what it’s worth, I’ve returned for brunch and had much better results.(Shout out to the country benedict — but someone needs to lay off the extra fry on the hashbrown patty). I’ve raised some of the aforementioned issues to our servers, who were not as apologetic as one might hope. A lot of nods and eye rolls, which might upset some patrons, but I think deep down they already knew the problem with the food even before I flagged them down. Another knock on the star front, but certainly not enough to keep me from partaking in any drink session here. On Deck has been around for a good decade or so and I hope for them another 10 years of success. If they are able to focus on the service and food issues, I can’t see why I wouldn’t be back for some more action out on the patio. Fingers crossed it comes sooner than later.

Hands down worst service I have ever experienced in my entire life. Gorgeous day in portland, we wanted to be able to sit and enjoy it outside. What better place to do this than on the deck of On Deck? We walked up and looked around the crowd for someone working there. Finally a man ran out of the doors chewing food. I guess he had just been eating some skittles or something? Anyways, we asked for a table for 5 outside and he came back with«uhhhhhh. We don’t do parties of 5 on the deck. Don’t have the tables for it.» Thats alright(i guess?). But then he just stared at us. Not sure if he just expected us to leave(which we should have at that point). We then had to ask what else we could do about that situation. He came back with a great response that really was really welcoming and compensating, «I dunno.» We then asked if we could just get a table inside instead(Makes sense. Good job, us.) So he lead us inside. We got a table in the far corner. Even then, he said the table was for four, but we could try to fit more on the bench… So we did. After deciding what we wanted, we waited for our order to be taken… and we waited. and waited. Finally, a waiter came. I asked him if the fish tacos for made with corn or flour tortillas. He said«yeah.» hahahah. Oh boy. So then I clarified my question, and we were on the same page. He was across the table, so he moved closer to me to take my order, but I was going to scan the menu over once more while the others ordered. But I saw him hovering over me, and when I looked up… He was doing that«wave» thing that people do when telling someone to «keep moving»(can we all picture it? Either way, not something pleasant.) And he accompanied those pleasant hand gestures by saying«Soooo?» It gets better. For the nachos, we asked if we could just get the cheddar cheese, not the other one. He said, «They’re shredded and mixed together. But… we could sit down and pick out all the cheddar for you.» Assuming he was just referencing that there would actually be some nice customer service, we were happy and asked«really». Our great waiter: «No. We wouldn’t actually do that. We would have to shred an entire block of cheese just for you. And we aren’t going to do that.» After finally placing an order, we didn’t see him once. We actually had another waitress come and refill our waters and check on pus because ours was obviously slacking on his part. BUTTHEN he came in the middle of us eating to ask if we could cash out early because he was leaving. Look. I’m sorry you’ve got other plans and all, but I suppose you can take our bill instead of handing us over the the waitress who was actually waiting us. Oooo girl, now I’m all flustered again! Never have I ever experienced this awful of service or ranted a review about it. But this was horrifying. Hope the basketball game you had to go to was fun, because my fish tacos sucked hahah.
