Came for the Oregon viewing party. Plus is that there’s no cover charge, but the menu is limited, the sound keeps cutting out, and the stairs are so dark I trip a few times every time I come down. The staff is friendly, but they ask tips when we bus our own dishes and it’s essentially a concession stand. It would be nice if we could open a tab too. The screen is better than any sports bar I’ve seen, but I’m not sure I would recommend it to anyone. I certainly would not recommend it to anyone with limited mobility because there are stairs everywhere, you can’t avoid them. Many of the drawbacks could be easily corrected but that one is not likely to ever change.

The theater is really nice and it’s a McMenamin’s so the food is good but the management doesn’t know what they are doing. We went to see a movies in the theater. My phone fell out of my bag or got misplaced somewhere. I get that it’s annoying when guests leave their phones all over the place and I know that I’m the moron who lost my phone. That wasn’t the problem. The problem was that I left note describing my phone(the brand and the fact that it has a crack in it. I even described the crack and where it was) and the next day they called and said that they found my phone. Wednesday my boyfriend went to get it and they could not find it. They told him they would have the manager call because maybe she had it somewhere. She never called. I left a message Thursday morning, didn’t get a call back. Then I called Thursday night and talked to someone. She said that the manager was doing something outside and that when the manager got back she would call me. She never called. Finally today(Saturday) I had a chance to go all the way out there to actually talk to someone. When I talked to the manager she said that she had called because she thought it was my phone but then someone else came and described it so they gave it to that person. So, either the manager has very poor reading comprehension skills(because I described the phone carefully and in detail) and did not understand my note and so thought that any phone was mine when it was someone else’s, they gave my phone to someone else or someone there took it. I just lost my job, I’ve been having the worst last three months and now I am using a terrible janky phone that does not always ring when someone calls me. I have insurance on the phone but I can’t afford the deductible. Thank you Mission Theater for making this miserable time in my life that much worse.

Watching the regular season opener for the Hawks up on the theaters balcony. Amazing sound, amazing picture. Comfy seats. Nice ladies at the counter filled up my mug with coffee. Great set-up

Every week this summer, my boyfriend and I have gone to watch the Timbers games here. It’s air conditioned, usually not too crowded, and you get to watch the game for FREE on a huge screen. Short of actually being able to afford tickets to the stadium, it’s the best place to see the games.

This place is great! I went to watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It was free admission. Screen was awesome. Great IPA and a slice a pizza, while sitting in my seat. Pretty great way to watch hockey if you can’t be there live.

I heard they are showing movies now! So glad since it’s the best pub in my old neighborhood.

What a gem. Delicious food and cold beer plus it never seems to be crowded. The only downside is finding parking on the street but it’s worth the hike.

I’ll express my one and only serious gripe up front, WHYISN’T THEREANYTHINGLIKETHISINLA!!! It’s not that it’s just a theater that serves beer and grub while you watch a flick, we have those scattered around So Cal. But more of the idea that this place represents, the showing of classic films(popular or obscure) for the sake of discussion and appreciation while imbibing on a fantastic local craft brew. My only few chances I was able to catch Woody Allen’s ‘Sleeper’ & Martin Scorsese ‘Mean Streets’. Both evenings I was hosted by the proprietor, in which he began with a slide show presentation elaborating on the meanings of the film and its significance during the period in which it was released. Afterwards, he evokes everyone to share their thoughts and perspectives. I love the fact that this place exists, it gives everyone the opportunity to(re)discover classic movies and find a whole new appreciation, but sadly I’m from So Cal. If there’s anyone that can point me to something similar to this in the local area PLEASE refer me!

This place is great. I won’t tell you how great it is. You should stay at home and totally miss out on this one-of-a-kind gem. We don’t want you taking up all the good balcony seats anyhow… Oh… yes, I did in fact say balcony… intrigued, huh?

Love the price!!! I wish they had more food options, but all in all not bad. During the week there are not that many people there, so it makes for a relaxing movie experiance.

Visiting from LA, I was staying in the Pearl district and I decided to see«Scrooged» at the Mission Theater. It was honestly an excellent experience. Not only was the movie only 2 dollars, but there was an incredible selection of McMennamin’s microbrews for only $ 2.80 per glass. I had some popcorn and junior mints and enjoyed the movie from the balcony seating. You can’t ask for much more out of a theater. Great architecture as well.

I recently went to this place for the first time and I was so impressed at how McMenamins has managed to preserve and convert this building into a great theater. The movie was great and sitting down eating pizza and drinking beer was nice. It’s also great how inexpensive it is to get in — cheaper than renting a video.

My first McMenamin’s movie theater experience, and it was a good one. I generally don’t come to movie theaters for the food, so I can’t speak to that. I love the beer choices, comfy balcony seats and the ambiance of a historic building. No waiting to get into the movie,(I guess everyone but me has seen The Shining from start to finish). Put on your patience hat when it comes to parking, it comes with the territory folks!

Absolutely amazing place to watch a movie – «right under our nose’s» by the Pearl District. With the renovated sound and video system in the«historic» Mission theatre with all new comfortable seats, good microbrew on tap and a whole new menu, including grass-fed burger – the place to enjoy your entertainment dollar! And on Tuesdays right now, get a movie for $ 2(normal ticket prices $ 4). What deal! We just watched«Lucy» starring Morgan Freeman and Scarlet Johansen – mind-boggling, blockbuster, with special effects, that will make you jump out of your new comfy theatre seats(careful don’t spill that beer). Get here now and support your new, new, new local theater!

My husband and I are huge fans of Mission Theater! Part of the McMenamins family, the theater is funky and fun and was once a Swedish Evangelical church. The theater has old fashioned auditorium-style seating with comfy high-end chairs that tilt back… perfect for a long movie! The bar downstairs serves all of McMenamins beer and wine(my favorite is the Black Rabbit Red) and has a great selection of snacks — you can also order pizza here if you come hungry, but we hear it’s not that great. :-( They often show movies that have been released for quite some time, but the prices cannot be beat. If you order tickets online, you can also get a discount off your ticket prices. We went to see the movie Chef here on a weekday and it was $ 5 for BOTH of our tickets. There’s also a great Thai place next door and plenty of restaurants nearby to make it a great date-night out on the town! Date nights are definitely become a regular thing of ours at The Mission Theater!

Fantastic fresh squeezed screwdrivers during a movie?! FIVESTARS. Not to mention pizza, good service, epic-looking balcony, classic interior, and a nice carpet.

What’s not to like? Only two things: 1) waiting outside until the doors open 2) the seats are too small for a voluptuous derrière What’s to like? Lots and lots and lots! 1) Full Bar 2) A wide variety of events on the calendar 3) Decent food 4) Nice staff 5) Reasonable prices 6) Fun, Fun, Fun — each and every time I go its fun!

First time here amazingly enough. I don’t usually hit up McMenamin venues anymore because I refuse to stand with a bunch of strangers on a hard wooden floor for 2 hours looking at a concert. I don’t like that whole sardine ripped off feeling. After speaking with someone from PDX Jazz about wanting to see this particular group here, he informed me that this McMenamins has seats Always! I can now put them back on the list. When we entered there were small wooden tables all over the place, and not all clustered together. We just grabbed the nearest one and called it good. The acoustics are not the most perfect but it’s such a small space it’s not worth it to quibble about that. In fact, at least you were not drowned out and then deaf when you left. I have my favorite gin and don’t really like McMenamins. I was figuring that I would have to order something else. Wrong again — and another pleasant surprise. They did indeed have it. Later on I wanted a glass of red. Once again, not my favorite winery. They also were out of every red wine by the glass when I got up there. I actually wanted a cuvee but it was only by the bottle, Except they substituted it since they were out of the others. Scored again! What I do like about the McMenamins is when they take a place and call it their own, they spiff it up to show its own magic, not to destroy it. This spot reflects that with the sweet church balcony showing its ornate décor. I’ll include the McMenamin’s history page on this for those of you that are not familiar with how they embrace the old.
