Fun place, especially during happy hour or «smiley» hour as they call it. Cute seating arrangements. Pretty good selection of beer and some different mixed drinks. The wings are delicious. not sure if good for takeout, but definitely worth a try.

I typically«test out» Thai restaurant that I’ve never been to before by ordering salad rolls & pad Thai. If I’m happy with those, I keep on testing the menu. We ordered delivery. Our food was delivered in a very timely manner, and everything was still good and hot. My test for a salad roll is, are there good flavor notes of cilantro, Thai basil, and mint? These rolls, while heavy on the lettuce, did have good flavor that managed to push out through the lettuce and largish chunk of tofu, and the accompanying peanut sauce was just fine. On to the pad Thai. For me, if the pad Thai has a ketchup thing going on, automatically two thumbs down. Well, Thai Smile managed to surpass the awfulness of ketchup with its own sweet, unidentifiable, horrific sauce. I could handle just a few bites and, even tho I was super hungry, could eat no more. So, for me, one big No. My husband ordered the pad prik king, which I couldn’t sample because he ordered it extra super hot. But he liked it just fine. So I’m willing to try one more dish(probably pad see ew). I’ll update this review if I’m blown away by that.

Ordered from here for the first time through GrubHub. Bit into a potsticker and felt something hard. Pulled out a nice chunk of plastic. So dangerous, safe to say we will never go to Thai Smile again. GrubHub offered to handle this issue for me, so thank you GrubHub!

Use to like them but month after month the food has gone down in taste and quality along with it coming out correct if you have a change. My last order was my last order! It was the worst had 3 entries and everyone had 2 bites of there and we tossed it was that bad! Unfortunately it was delivery so it was what it was a bummer

Amazing! We’ve been wanting to go here for years. I ordered the Orange Chicken, it was the best Orange Chicken I’ve ever had!

The vibes are spicy and the mood swanky. The staff are really helpful and there’s a new kid who is drop dead gorgeous

Food court reject. The first two years it opened it was uniquely good. For the last year, it has spiraled down and crashed. It could not compete with most airport eateries. To say it has been Americanized would be a compliment but it is so much worst than that. I can only imagine that it has been bought out by Golden Corral. It’s formerly good happy hour has only four very poorly prepared frozen dinner options now. It’s actually worst than most canned Chinese food.

Just ate here tonight… There was only one other couple eating here and I thought maybe that was a bad sign… I should have listened to my gut. The pad thai was super bland and off-putting. I ordered the Angel Roll but the server never brought it to me and later I had to flag him down and just told him to forget about it. I figured that if the pad thai was so terrible than I shouldn’t risk wasting more money on something else here. It seems they put more money into the pictures on the menu and making everything look pretty in the picture because my plate looked super ugly and had really unfresh mung beans and bad produce. I think they gave half my food away to a take out order because they forgot to make it and I ordered the same thing so they probably rushed it and just split the order to get my food out. I really hope I don’t get sick. I will definitely not come back.

No smiles for this place! Stopped into this place for lunch because we were starving and it was the closest food in sight. Wish we had kept walking. Terrible choice! We should have known to walk straight back Out when we walked in and noticed only one waitress was working? We will take responsibility for that stupid move… We ordered Crab Rangoon as an app and chicken, shrimp pad Thai and some chicken and steamed veggies with peanut sauce as entrees. First off the crab Rangoon took 10 mins. We thought, wow this is great and it wasn’t that bad, but nothing spectacular. The pad Thai and 2nd entrée took another 30 mins to come? The pad Thai was mediocre but palatable. The chicken and peanut sauce was cold and clumpy… so I sent it back… waited another 15 mins and when the waitress brought the new plate, The chicken was raw!!! Like legitimately pink and in your face… it was disgusting! The waitress was very apologetic and said sorry it’s really busy back there today? I’m like… oh ok so that’s a perfect reason to serve raw chicken? She then said«well I will obviously take this off your bill» I almost burst out laughing… umm yeah perhaps that’s a good idea! Obviously never coming back here…

Honestly pretty bad Thai food. Went for lunch with three coworkers and all of us agreed that it was just«off» tasting with fish sauce being the most prominent flavor. Also the restaurant is in need of a thorough cleaning, it’s windows are filthy!

I’m kind of surprised to see so many good reviews about this place… I don’t like giving negative reviews but I ordered delivery and got the pad see ew, basil friend rice, and potstickers. Total 30 bux, the pot stickers were good but not for 10 dollars? The Basel fried rice was kinda bland, the veggies looked old and the chicken wasn’t very tasty. The noodles were ok, I’ve had much better. I don’t mind dropping 30 bux on take out but when I do I expect it to taste good.

I’m a Thai restaurant junkie and found this place by accident. Granted, i’ve only been there twice, and ordered my favorite dish both times, but I have a feeling that whatever I order will be just as good. I love their Panang Curry — they made it HOT, the way I like it. It’s hard to find a really good Thai place in PDX, many are run by Vietnamese or Cambodians and they just don’t cut it. Thai Smile was consistent, both times the meal was served quickly, nice presentation, great taste, large portion, nicely spiced, plenty of curry liquid, fresh vegetables, and polite service. The place has class, no tacky décor. The location is easy to get to from I-405. Price was very reasonable for a filling lunch…$ 7.50. It’s on a corner, has nice big windows facing south; seems to have a dark bar area in the back. It’s hard to find a place that makes it HOT when I say HOT, they usually Americanize it… meaning it’s NOT hot. I was pleasantly surprised that when I said HOT, they repeated it, as if to say…‘are you sure you want it hot?” and I said«YES, HOT»…and that’s what they served me. Thank you for not making it bland and boring… I know most people don’t like it hot, so it’s hard for Thai restaurants to gauge what their clients really want, so I understand. I’m just grateful to get it the way I want it… not bland/boring…but hot and spicy. Next time, I”ll try something else I like, Pad See Ew or Basil Stir Fry. Thank you, Thai Smile!

I got the pad thai with pork. In short, it was underwhelming. There were 3 – 4 little pieces of tough, dried-out old pork. The dish actually contained far more tofu than pork, for whatever reason, though the menu makes no mention of meat-containing items being piled up with tofu as well. I don’t eat unfermented soy products so it was pretty annoying to have to pick out the unasked-for tofu. The thai iced tea was really good, though, and the guy working was super nice, so maybe I will try again with a different dish. And make sure to ask for no tofu!

Great little Thai spot. Really nice for date night if you want to eat real food before catching a movie at the Mission Theater(which is across the road.) My honeybuckles is a curry fiend and loves theirs. I enjoy their house specials. Their special wings and fries are a fascinating and successful East meets West flavor combination. They deliver. Late. Fast. Arguably the best Thai in NW.

Being a native New Yorker I really need good Thai food once in a while. This is hands down the best Thai that I have had in Portland. The Panang curry is amazing! Not only is the food incredible, but the service is excellent and the entire staff are helpful and very friendly. On top of all of the above, it is very reasonably priced! 5 stars!

Do you want to know what is really great? I can ring up the folks at Thai Smile while sitting on my futon Al Bundy style and order me up some yummy Thai food. That’s pretty darn great in my book. Most times when I do this it’s somewhat late as in 30 minutes until closing time(10:00PM) and I want my food delivered because you know, pajamas. They have never told me no. I like that. What they have told me is that there is a $ 25.00 minimum order. But I’m ok with that because you know, pajamas. The delivery fella has always been friendly and prompt. They always show up faster than the time quote over the phone, which is totally a good thing. One thing that bugs me is that they never ask how spicy I want my seafood Pad Thai, so next time I order, I’ll be sure to ask for some spice. The salad rolls and peanut sauce were excellent and I’ll be sure to order those again. Thai Smile really hits the semi-late night spot with its delivery service. Because you know, pajamas. 2015 — Review # 7

One of portlands most authentic and best Thai places! Having been to Thailand for 3 weeks and then on a Thai cooking course in PDX, I feel I can say it’s accurate, authentic and delicious ! Their Phad Thai with lemongrass chicken is excellently done! I might even feel brave enough to try the(very hot) papaya salad soon!

Never having eaten Thai food much in Europe, experiencing REAL Thai food is an eye-opener! The chef here is awesome and will cook your food as ‘hot’ as you like. As it was my introduction, my gfriend started me on the Thom Yum soup, which as an Italian foodie I can totally recommend. Add to that the superdelicious ginger tea(get sweetened), and we have been going here almost weekly. Since then I have progressed to the coconut version and more regular dishes. Fortunately however, Thai Smile always includes a generous serving of vegetables which I adore as I used to be a veggie. Definitely a recommend for lunch, and when I look around me and see the sports tv, I want to do their Happy Hour another time too!
