I love the vintage inspired lighting & the Edison bulbs. It makes for a cozy atmosphere. Not to mention the salvaged wood paneling & exposed brick. This is my kind of place! This is the sister bar to the Bye and Bye. First time here, and I like it already!

I’ve been to this bar on several special occasions(birthdays, etc.), and have had more bad experiences than good. Given there are a small handfull of staff members here I’ve encountered who don’t fall onto this category, but the majority of workers here really suite up to that hip and entitled mentality. Coming from working a service industry for years, it really bums me out to see poor customer service, and bluntly dehumanizing their guests. Not every experience I’ve had has been like this, but it’s enough to make me stay away. If you go, at least the firepit will treat you well!

This place is awesome! Having just turned Vegan a month ago I wanted to check out some local places I had read about in the Portland area. Hereafter exceeded my expectations! I had the buffalo sandwich and it was great! I was missing that buffalo chicken taste that I had so often eaten as a meat eater and this sandwich did the trick. As well as the wonderful food, I also had a couple great craft cocktails! Coming from a bartender background I would say this bar knows how to make their drinks. As well as the quality of the drinks, the vibe and ambiance was comfortable and friendly. Go Vegan and Go to Hereafter when you do :) !

Perfect first date spot for that vegan/vegetarian you met on OkCupid. Nicely lit, hip but not excessively so, and tasty bowls that get even this carnivore’s approval. Service is friendly/prompt enough. Cozier than its northeast sister, the Bye & Bye. NO idea what one guy below was smoking – I’ve been here a handful of times and have NEVER seen anyone dealing drugs. WTF? Maybe if he paid more attention to the people he was with and spent less time judging random strangers?(Oooh, shady shade!)

Excellent food, friendly bartenders, pleasant atmosphere. Oh yes, and delicious boozy drinks. It’s definitely my favorite bar in Portland, although their sister bar(The Bye and Bye) is also fabulous for the same reasons.

We didn’t eat anything but had beers. Delirium on tap was great. Crowd was mixed and was not a single type demographic. Place seemed overwhelmed by a cooked bean smell. Actually it was pretty strong. Maybe try early afternoon.

Good food… But the employees I’ve had the burden of interacting with have the personalities of police officers. Lighten up you dingos — no one is as impressed as you might like to think we are

My government issued ID somehow manages to get me through airport security but is insufficient to prove that I can buy a beer. My friend’s greencard that gets her through international airports, allows her to work in the United States and lease a house is equally insufficient. I wish I could rate the actual bar and food but I left my birth certificate at home.

I did go again, and it was still good :) I got food this time, on the happy hour menu($ 1 for all entrees, beer and wine). I got the Jamaican bowl which had marinated tofu, black beans, coconut kale and rice. I wasn’t too sure as I’m not a huge kale fan, but it was so good! My friend got the spicy Thai bowl and also really enjoyed it. Don’t be turned away just because this place is vegan, it’s still really good.

This had been our favorite bar for a long time, but we’ve continually had bad experiences the past few months coming here and it makes me sad. The upside: We love the atmosphere, drinks(especially boozie slushies), and food. The food is actually excellent and vegan. It’s not greasy bar food, in the least. The Steve Martin wrap is delicious, as well as the Thai bowl. It has everything for us. The downside: the music is SOLOUD. THEMUSICISASLOUDASTHEVOICEINYOURHEADREADINGTHISRIGHTNOW. It might be louder. I don’t mind getting a little crazy on the weekend, but this place is so loud that I can’t hear what my wife is saying across the table. It’s extremely obnoxious. We’ve asked for the music to be turned down before and we’ve been dismissed. Same goes for other friends who are regulars at the bar. The service is quite spotty here, as well. Some bartenders have been sweet as pie and others are a touch rude. Getting a drink at the bar can be quite difficult if you’re not a good looking hipster chick or dude. In one night, I was ignored by three different bartenders who had finished helping all their other customers. I’ll just give the benefit of the doubt and say maybe they didn’t see me because I’m short… I miss coming here with friends and I miss their delicious vegan fare.

The drinks were great and the food came out super fast. The outdoor seating is insane and cool but it was too crowed so we sat inside. I ordered the pioneer drink which I fell in love with because it really tasted like a blood orange. It was so refreshing! My friend got the pretzel bun and they were sooo amazing. Didn’t know I would like cashew cheese so much! The buffalo soy curl sandwich she got was also flavorful and spicy and the texture was very meat like. My other friend of the tofu banh mi and it was also good but I think it needs a sauce to make it even better. Definitely I’ll be back

They didn’t let my(of age) friend in because she used her green card, which has her photo on it, as ID. They literally looked at it, scowled, and said«no, we don’t accept this here». I’d been twice in the past and really liked it, which is why I recommended it as a place to meet my friend, but after that experience, I definitely won’t be recommending this place to anyone.

So you are aware, this is a bar that also serves food. But, the ONLY food food they serve is vegan(which is why I came here). There’s a very big menu, and the prices are insanely cheap for great food. This place was just SO cool. First, it is in a GREAT neighborhood — lots of stuff around it. Second, the interior is just so charming. And, of course, they had good food. You order at the counter, then pick it up. It’s very open and welcoming and decorated comfortable and casual. I love the charm of the inside. I had the Precious Bowl(very reasonable at $ 7). It had coconut kale, black Beans, and brown rice — I added pineapple on top. It was very good, but there was something in it that was just a tad spicy for my taste(I don’t like any spice at all). But, it was very good. My friend had the Blackened Tempeh Sandwich($ 8), and said it was good(I didn’t try it). It was a LOT of food for $ 8! The prices are fantastic(lots of food on a budget) and the place was clean, and the service was great. When I find myself in Portland again, I WILL be back! All good.

I haven’t spent a large amount of time here by any means, so I’m not the most qualified reviewer of this place. I can say that when I visited around 9 on a Wednesday I liked what I saw and had a perfectly pleasant experience. The décor and vibe of this place is by far a 5⁄5. I loved the multiple areas to choose to hang, the«garage» area for lack of a better descriptor, has multiple picnic bench tables and very cool lighting. The garage door opens up to a nice little back patio, all of which is perfect for spending a summer evening. I did not eat their food, although I’m sure it’s tasty. We did order a piece of white cake, which was good. It was just a touch on the dry side, but the frosting was delicious. The beer selection was great, I went for the Breakside Hoppy Saisson and dug it. The bartender was decidedly not a dick, a big plus when considering where to avoid in the future(in this town, the list can get long).

Okay food, okay drink, bad prices. Wish the door people could keep out the riff raff. My friends and I used to come here regularly but the last few times we’ve feared for our safety. A couple times it’s happened that I’ve glanced around the room and caught someone passing something to someone else, a baggy or an envelope, and then I was stared down. Later on, I went to the bathroom and the starer confronted me at the urinal asking me «what I think I saw.» Not sure what they can do about that. Probably nothing. Oh well. It is what it is. Maybe they should hire better security.

Fantastic patio area for drinks. I love the converted mechanic garage motif. All around a great place to hang out. And, the bouncer was pretty cool about not being a dick even though we were smoking right in front of the entryway. Instead of the threat of violence, he used logic and reason to make us move down the street. It was much appreciated.

My husband and I really enjoyed this place. We had good service, our food didn’t take long. Then again, we were one of the first customers to walk in right when they opened. For drinks, I recommend The Pioneer and The Tequila Old Fashioned. They serve all vegan food, and it was all delicious. We will go again next time we’re in Portland.

Good: Taste of food. Price. Beer selection. Ambiance. TERRIBLE: Service and experience: Listen, I know that it is tough to serve a busy crowd, but making people order at the bar and having the cooks serve your food is AMATEURHOUR. My wife and I went for a nice saturday night and after we ordered our appetizers, dinner and drinks we proceeded to wait 30 minutes for our dinner. The catch? My wife’s dinner never came out because the bartender/order taker didn’t hear my order as he took it at the bar. Here’s an idea: hire two servers to serve the outside and manage orders properly. After we brought this up, we waited another 30 minutes for my wife’s food to come out while mine went cold. We will come back here for drinks, but NEVERAGAIN for dinner.

Probably one of the cutest bars I’ve been to in Portland. Also the bar that screams«Portland» because… They serve some of their drinks in Mason jars, which is pretty cute & very«hipster». They serve VEGAN food! Not vegetarian, VEGAN! Never tried the food, but I looked at some of the plates nearby our table and they actually looked delicious! There’s picnic tables as seats in the back! AND, there’s a FIREPLACE outside! I love fireplaces, especially when it was a cold and windy night and my Californian ass can’t deal with temperatures below 60 degrees.
