Very welcoming. The cashier was very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. The brewed«coffee of the day» was wonderful … although I’m not a connoisseur, I do know what I like and this coffee was very smooth and rich tasting! We bought a bag of coffee beans to take back to Hawaii.

This place is really nice. Although I don’t really recommend it for people who don’t like strong coffee. Most of their coffee is strong. Their are a few items on the menu that a kid would like. They do have some baked good as well.

I love the coffee but dudes behind the counter, relax. You are cool, I get it. Apple oat scone was a bit dry. Nowhere to sit because it was like a study hall for some reason. Maybe it was just the day we went. All in all, great coffee. Not much else to say.

Poor customer service & lack of latte art skills. I could of done a better job making the drink myself to be honest. I stopped going here simply due to low skilled baristas, great beans though.

A bit more out-of-the-way than the other Stumptown locations this site has a more relax feel than the others. Having couches next to a large window so you can watch the trees outside sway in the wind help the ambiance. In my opinion Stumptown is one of the best roasters and their staff in the shops are friendly and helpful. Having fresh locally roasted coffee helps make what could be an average cup of joe an excellent beverage. Add in baristas who know what they are doing and you also get excellent espresso drinks. There are a couple of downsides: The entrance isn’t well structured so the people coming in have to walk through the people waiting for, getting, or fixing up their coffee. You also have to walk through the people lined up to order coffee to get to the seating area. It’s cool that they have a roaster there for people to see, but I can’t help but think the whole place would flow more smoothly if they were to swap the barista /cashier station with the roaster.

I am not reviewing the coffee but the customer service. i arrived at 3 min till 7pm(IPHONETIME) on friday oct 3 and i opened the door and let out two slow moving customers who where saying good bye to the counter girl. i walked in and was ignored for a moment and THEN told with a stone cold face we are closed!!! i told the tattooed counter girl that i simply wanted a pound of beans ground or whole and i had the exact cash amount. once again she tells me nope we are closed. i get a little mad and say really no help just like that i drove 35 min in traffic to get a lb of coffee and you are refusing to help me, ONCEAGAINHERONLYRESPONSEWEARECLOSEDYOUCANGOTONEWSEASONSIFYOUWANTSOMEOFARECOFFEE !! First time into this shop, and it was anything but welcoming. The girl at the register was completely rude. She yells the cup size from across the room and I did not hear her, so instead of walking over and explaining herself she just rolls her eyes with a attitude and repeats the question again in a tone. Not a very welcoming environment, why would I even think about coming back when there is a ton of other coffee shops in Portland who I am sure will be happy to take my money and make me feel welcomed. I was so annoyed by this interaction I almost just asked for a refund and left but I was with someone and did not want to cause a scene. If you enjoy poor customer service then this is the place for you. I would not recommend this place to anyone nor would I ever return. I’ll take my money else where.

This is my third-favorite Stumptown, which means it’s still pretty dang great. The coffee is reliably good, and I’m particularly fond of the nitro cold brew that they keep on tap. Sure it might be a touch more expensive that the regular cold brew, but it’s so creamy! I like the layout of this location, with the seating all in a different room than the coffee bar/roasting setup. There’s a good number of tables, but I have on occasion had a hard time finding a seat. I guess you can’t judge a biz for being popular… There’s not much else to say about this location. Great coffee and service, in a friendly neighborhood setting. Stumptown is AOK by me

Cool quaint spot! Really wanted to try the nitro cold brew after watching so many features online and on TV. And it doesn’t disappoint! So crisp and smooth and from the words of my brother, «smooth like drinking water!» Similar to that same crisp«ahh» from a draft beer. I was able to taste my Aunt’s latte and was greatly impressed. It was delicious and tasted like a delectable dessert. Awesome start to my PDX trip !

I got a nitro coffee and it was my first one! The staff wasn’t too memorable, and the ambiance just seemed off.

Nice ambiance, and very classy. I enjoyed the cute little coffee cups they served the espresso in and the coffee art. The espresso was incredibly strong though, could put hair on your chest. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE to take espresso shots but these shots made my tongue curl back. Their iced mocha was delicious, I preferred it over the hot version. Their latte was average. Wasn’t special, but wasn’t bad. Super trendy spot, I’m glad I tried it. I WOULD go back, but it wouldn’t be my first option.

The coffee here is great. The ambiance is nice, and the staff is friendly. I was a little underwhelmed based on what if heard about this place, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. The coffee is great. Definitely try this place out.

This used to be my go-to coffee shop, it was local, had the best price on the cold brew around, and cozy. Unfortunately, they lost some great staff they had before and the prices on all cold brew drinks have been jacked up by over a dollar within the last year. I could go to Fred Meyer and buy a bottle of their coffee for less than they sell it at their shops for now. The cashiers are primarily interested in moving through the line and makes it hard to form new relationships with them. Too bad my better option is to buy elsewhere for coffee as their shops harbor the highest prices in town.

I love this coffee! So smooth, so delicious. They’ve gotten pretty big, expanding across America, but this spot still has a small local shop feel.

Decent coffee, but I really didn’t like this specific location. I felt like the baristas here were pretty snobby and impatient with customers. I asked how much coffee with almond milk would be and she looked a bit peeved at me and told me to read the menu. Cleanliness isn’t exactly their forte, either. There were tables that were empty but not cleaned and the two baristas were just standing there pretending like they didn’t see it.

Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Support a coffee shop that’s still owned and operated locally, like Coffee Division, Rain or Shine, or Albina Press. They have better coffee, and way better service. If you’d like to get a shitty overpriced cup of coffee and curt, rude, eye-rolling service from an entitled dick in a beanie who just moved here from Brooklyn, then this is definitely the place to go. If you’d like a nice cup of coffee from nice people, try some place else.

OG! Stumptown! This is a great neighborhood coffee shop. I always find room to sit down and the layout is flooded with natural light. Sit singly, communally or in dyads or quads. A roasting machine on sight for the interest of the curious. Great art and good folks here!

Nice spot. Decided to start my adventures in Portland properly, with a quad Americano at what is supposedly one of the best coffee joints in the country. Coffee, while brewed, isnt exactly in my wheelhouse, so my critical dissection of the coffee isnt comprehensive; It was good. Pretty constant stream of customers on a Wednesday morning, plenty of seating at the front window bar to watch traffic and plan the rest of my adventures. I can appreciate some of the comments on spotty service — while I was served quickly I can see how an indifferent barista could slow the roll real fast. Like any place, it really depends on whos working behind the counter. My quad Americano was less than $ 4 so the price is right. Would recommend overall.

My first coffee cup, on my first trip to Portland. I must say this was the best coffee I have ever had. The smoothness. And the fact that its direct trade. Oh, the free post cards too! Allen. NY, NY

Had to get some Stumptown before leaving Portland for our drive up to Seattle, so we stopped here in this nice little neighborhood with easy parking. It wasn’t busy on a Sunday morning and we were in and out with our hot beverage, pastries, and a bag of freshly roasted beans! Their coffee is delicious and high quality. I couldn’t help but to bring a bag back with me to San Francisco. I got a cup of Cappuccino and it was perfectly made, hot, rich, creamy and foamy. Totally hit the spot! I got a bag of the Costa Rica Montes De Oro. I love that they have a little note card in the front describing where the coffee bean is from, elevation, varietal and a description of the flavors. A time stamp is located on the bottom of the bag with the date it was roasted.
